This was one of my favorite games as a kid, and I'm surprised to see how short and easy it really is. But it doesn't matter. Of course it aged, of course it's not as good as it was when my brother and I were desperately trying to beat the ninja-twins boss. Double Dragon II is fast, inventive and very cool to replay.Updated 3.5 Weeks Ago

Solid Beat'Em Up, one of the best for Arcade machinesI cannot imagine better epigraph for the Game than this:
If you prick us, do we not bleed?
If you tickle us, do we not laugh?
If you poison us, do we not die?
And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?

Double Dragon II is the natural upgrade to the first game! Marian has been killed this time, so Billy and Jimmy have to fight their way through a bunch of enemies to get their revenge on Machine Gun Willy. The controls have been changed so that you can fight enemies on both sides of you. The enemies are more varied and have some cool moves and looks. Definitely a must play arcade game!Updated 7.5 Months Ago

Play on the hardest difficulty to see the real final boss and ending. Outside of the bosses themselves, it's not actually much harder at all.I've wanted to play this one for decades, and here I go and it's Just Fine.
It is a slight improvement on the original Double Dragon, introducing co-op (wish I had a friend to play with...) and redesigning the combat system. I think the fighting system was generally better received than the original game, but I'm honestly not sure I was as big a fan -- mostly because I could never quite figure it out and just resorted to button-mashing while aiming left or right to vary the (maybe) moves and hope I win the encounter. I still found ways to cheese most enemies, but there are certainly a handful that were brutally difficult (like those big bois in white pants).
Like everyone else says, too, the platforming moments are brutal and feel out of place.
Despite the complaints, the game still feels just a bit better. The graphics are fantastic for the NES! and the music! and the level design is a huge step up (minus the platforming)!

This game is pretty fun but easy. That said, this game shouldn't have platforming. Beat 'em ups like this wasn't made for that.Updated 3 Years Ago

A disappointing follow up to a well loved predecessor. Not enough levels. Levels too short. Very easy. All too brief and utterly forgettable.Updated 4 Years Ago

The Nes version of Double Dragon II is great! You can have 2 player co op play and the fighting is solid. Unfortunately the platforming sections are hard to master and make you use up all your lives, just because the controls are bad. I prefer the arcade game which is more focused on fighting.Updated 4.5 Years Ago

This is the game I make people play when I try to introduce them to the NES. It is easy to pick up, the stage designs are quite varied, the music is fantastic and the difficulty curves towards the end of the game. In my eyes it is the perfect NES game. I've never not enjoyed playing this game. Hell, even the platforming parts of the game, while being super frustrating at times, are really well implemented. I wish the games either side of this were half as good.Updated 6 Years Ago

This game, as anticipated is a long side-scrolling brawler. Enough battling to keep you busy and extensive enough that the limited continues could feel not enough but that is the curse of playing many 8-bit era games so I would not hold that against it. Updated 11.5 Years Ago
