This was an amazing fun game that was worth the 34 hrs, but I will say the plane missions and the final task of getting 35% of gang territories definitely affected my enjoyment. I still love the characters and the atmosphere the game provides, but it's just not a perfect game.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas continued the success of GTA: Vice City and is built on the same engine.

Set within the fictional state of San Andreas, the game follows Carl "CJ" Johnson, who returns home after his mother's murder and finds his old friends and family in disarray. Over the course of the game, he attempts to re-establish his old gang, clashes with corrupt authorities and powerful criminals, and gradually unravels the truth behind his mother's murder.

Sadly, this version of the game is no longer available on Steam, and you have to play it via the Definitive Edition.

This GTA will always be my favorite. Even if you're not influenced by nostalgia, you can enjoy it from start to finish. It was 30 hours, leisurely, very fun, and immersive. It has aged very well.

I originally played this game on the XBOX and ended up pirating it on PC back in the day, playing tons of hours through the San Andreas Multiplayer modification before getting a legitimate copy and replaying the story. A majority of the missions in this game are an enjoyable, varied time (barring the two mediocre tailing missions,) through an expansive map that has little to no empty, unused space with a cast of characters you either love to hate, or true companions to CJ and the player. My only real complaint is in relation to the San Fierro arc of the story, where I think the city is underutilized and most of the missions instead take place in the countryside, and has little to no interesting set pieces like Los Santos or Las Venturas do in the story. Still, this is an incredibly fun and memorable game - one of my favorites.

Put back in context, this game just blew everything out of the water. Really one of the greatest game changer in history. The kind of game only the PS2 era could grant us. The scope was (and still is) gigantic with so much side activities to do. In recent times the controls are quite old (especially compared to 5), but hey they needed to start somewhere right? This is one of the greatest games of all time and one of my favorite games! This is easily my favorite GTA game, and replaying it after completing GTA V confirmed it. I grew up with Vice City and that was my favorite until I played this game. Everything has been improved upon, with the map being way bigger (now encompassing 3 cities and the countryside in between them), more shit to do, and more stuff to collect. The game also looks fantastic for when it came out, and the radio stations are phenomenal as always. There is lots of mission variety here, with a whole bunch of missions that make you feel like an epic badass. The story is fantastic for the most part, but I'll get into that later. All of the characters were memorable as well and the protagonist and his group were likeable, while the villains were hateable, as it should be. Carl Johnson is easily my favorite GTA protagonist. He actually has a moral compass feels guilt, while also being a badass. He also stands by everyone that's loyal and respectful to him, which made him even more likable. This game also has diversity in Carl's allies and a strong female lead as well.

My main problem with this game, however, is that the last part of the story seemed rushed. I feel like Rockstar were running out of time so they had to quickly wrap it up, which sucks because this seems to happen with every GTA after this one. Instead of building to the final mission, they decided to force you into doing the gang warfare activity, which involves you shooting 3 waves of enemy gangs to take over territory. You need 35% of all the territory in Los Santos before you can start the final mission. I really enjoyed this mechanic, so it wasn't a problem for me, but this is padding and I hate padding so I always call it out. However, the final mission is the most epic mission in GTA, and easily my favorite mission in the whole series, so at least Rockstar created a satisfying conclusion to this game.

With that being said, this game is still a ton of fun to play and definitely worth experiencing! I highly recommend playing this :)

Podem existir GTAs melhores, mas San Andreas sempre será o meu favorito, nunca vou esquecer da sensação do pequeno Renan em 2005 no aniversário de 10 anos vendo pela primeira vez o quão magnífico era esse jogo, a sensação de mundo infinito e de poder ir pra qualquer lugar foi indescritível, a história é uma das que maise agrada até hoje, gangues, hip hop anos 90, famíliaz graças a alguns desses infinitos GTA Rio consegui jogar ainda no PS2 uma versão legendada em português e entender que tinha que tirar a carteira de avião pra poder conseguir continuar a história, te amarei para sempre San Andreas.

Finished this on the PS2 a few times, but never attempted to go for 100% completion. Took the opportunity now that I own the Definitive Edition and got the platinum trophy. This version had its issues when it launched, but my playthrough was smooth with no bugs, glitches or anything out of the ordinary. It felt like I was a kid playing on my PS2 once again.

Oui, GTA San Andreas est un excellent jeu, oui l'ambiance de ce jeu est vraiment géniale, oui les personnages sont emblématiques (CJ, Woozie, Smoke, Sweet), oui les missions sont plutôt intéressantes : mais ce n'est pas le meilleur GTA...

Pour l'époque, c'est assez fou tout ce qu'on peut faire, toutes les activités qu'on nous met à dispo, la ville est riche et on sent une vraie liberté. L'histoire est vraiment cool à suivre, il y a de très beaux plot twists qui m'ont fait décroché ma mâchoire.

Mais le gameplay, et je précise que j'ai fait le jeu dans sa version remake sur PS5, c'était vraiment compliqué. Viser, c'était un pur enfer. Le remake est ultra bugué, je suis rentré dans le sol mille fois, des personnages en T pose, des missions qui ne peuvent pas se finir parce qu'un bug est en train de tout casser. C'est une dinguerie qu'après plus de 3 ans, rien n'ait été corrigé.

Donc en résumé, c'est un très bon jeu à faire sur PS2 dans sa version originale mais qui ne dépassera jamais Vice City et son ambiance de fou furieux et ses références cinés dans mon coeur, désolé les fans de San Andreas

The absolute GOAT, the OG – no need for explanations. This was my comfort game before I even knew a thing about gaming. I dove deep into every YouTube myth channel, hunting for Bigfoot, the UFO car, and the Ghost car, the Headless CJ glitch – those were the peak moments of my life. The story was some real good shit, and I can vouch for that because I never skipped a single dialogue, unlike most of my friends. There was an abundance of things to do and experience, back in the days when our gaming tastes weren't pre-defined, and we were open to anything. I didn't even care that it was essentially polygons, long after my console generation had moved beyond that – it's just a nostalgic masterpiece.

Excellent jeu de simulation de braquage avec une histoire de réglement de compte de gang. GTA San andreas accuse malgré tout le poids des années avec de nombreuses évolutions liés aux itérations suivante de l'univers de GTA poussant le réalisme encore plus loin.
Malgré tout, il propose une histoire vraiment intéressante avec des combats de gang et la monté en puissance de son gang de Los Santos. Les nombreux antagonistes et protagonistes rencontrées ont leurs personnalités dont certaines caricatures de personnage du cinéma ajoutent un côté décalé au titre.
On s'attache au personnage et aux nombreuses rencontres qu'il va faire durant son aventure. La possibilité de faire des rencontres amoureuses ainsi que la transformation physique du personnage en fonction de son alimentation ou hygiène de vie donne un certain réalisme au monde.
Le remaster ne reflète malheureusement pas la qualité du titre originale avec des nombreux bugs et glitchs graphiques, le besoin de sortir cette version console sur smartphone montre les limitations de cette compilation.
