Chance in Syphon Filter 2. He wears a full body armor and is unharmed by bullets or granades. I spent half an hour runing in circles and hiding. I finally figured out i was supposed to lure him next to the helicopter and use high powered shotgun to stagger him back into the helicopter rear propeller. It was very satisfying to see him decapitated. Recently killing Orchendor in Skyrim, I don't know if you could count him as a boss though. I was playing as a pure mage and that bastard had 100% magic resistance so i had to use some cermonial weapons, with no leveling in weapons, I had picked up earlier and everytime I would lower his health he would just teleport onto a higher floor and heal while my own healing powers at the time were just a bit under the damage was making so he would kill me after 10min of futile fighting. When I finally killed him I was high-fiving myself. That was my thoughest fight in Skyrim.

The final boss in Sonic Generations. It's so unchaotic and hard to tell what's going that it really breaks the pace set by the battle before it (which was excellent!). I couldn't skillfully finish the very last fight. I eventually just randomly hit buttons and got lucky enough.

The final boss in Bayonetta, Jubileus, took me freaking forever. Not only was it a really long fight, but part of it takes place in this sphere that was pretty disorienting. Hated it and loved it at the same time. When I beat it I felt like a god.

Final boss in Shinobi for PS2. It is a tough game, but I got so good at it, that I could fly through the game in one sitting...up until the final boss. I finally beat him, but I played through that game at least 3 or 4 times before I beat him. The worst part about him is that he has a lengthy taunt session where he just teleports around for a while before the real fight starts and you have to go through it EVERY time you die.

There was one boss in Armored Core for Answers that was just...such bullshit. It was two mechs vs you and one had a pair of swords that kill you instantly. At least it killed my mech instantly, and I had a pretty armored mech (though not the super slow tank tred stuff). He could charge down the hall you start in and one-shot you. You know how I finally beat that boss? I flew up into the rafters of the room and sniped at them until I ran out of ammo and barely killed the last one with a melee attack. That was the only mission I ever ran out of ammo, I believe.

Banjo-Kazooie's gameshow board that you have to get across pissed me off pretty badly a few times.

Never did beat the final boss of the original Joe and Mac or Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Though I'm determined to beat the latter some day.

Diablo in Diablo 2, I just find him annoying. Not terribly hard, or frustrating, it depends, sometimes I breeze through him and other times well I have one heck of a fight.
The Evil Genie in Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2, again he was annoying, but not terribly hard.
Magus the Propagation the Boss in .Hack//Mutation this one actually ticked me off.
The Singing Hill A.B.R. in Ar Tonelico Melody of Elemia this boss has a trick to it, and it isn't one that someone would likely try, It couldn't kill me, but I couldn't hardly damage it and when I did it healed. Frustration.

I can't think of anymore right now that really drove me crazy.

Yeah, that boss was really just badly designed or something. It took me so many tries to get through it, and I really don't know what I did differently. There was something in there about changing from 2D to 3D to help with something, but all I noticed is that I couldn't really hit the boss in 2D mode. It was frustrating. :(

The only one that comes to mind is the current boss I'm up against. First turn kill should not be possible, but it is in Wizardry.

I really liked Generations but yeah I am with you that fight sucked. I still don't really know what I was doing either. Other than that the last two Sonic games have been really good (Generations and Colors) even if the boss fights were a little lacking in both.

I thought the fight with the Joker in Arkham Asylum was frustrating only because I expected it to be more challenging. I loved the game and was disappointed when I finished it particularly because of how easy he was.

The Ultimate Weapons in FF 7. I was never able to beat either of them and it was so disheartening when it would seem like I was holding my own against the one in the desert only to have him pick my characters up so I couldn't use them anymore. Any FF 13 boss especially Bartholemew or whatever his name was. I don't like fights that are difficult simply due to their length whether they are long or have some sort of stupid timer.

I don't think Ridley being in a Metroid game is much of a spoiler :P especially she was prominently shown in the trailer. Also, you may want to indicate what game you are talking about outside of the spoiler bar, otherwise the only way anyone can know what game you're talking about is to read the spoiler....which defeats the point of the spoiler bar if it is a game they wanted to avoid knowing about.

I hate the boss battles in Shadow Of The Colossus....

Haha. Old joke. Actually, they are about the only boss battles I ever liked, as generally I exceedingly HATE boss battles. They are annoying interuptions in the flow of a game and they are really not very good for my blood-pressure. Something about SotC really clicked with me though. I love that game, though I've still not got round to playing the HD update.

On the subject of the spoiler above, I still haven't defeated Ridley from the original Metroid Prime after 10 years!!! Aaarrrggghhhhh!!! The savegame is still sitting on a cartridge, tucked away in a store cupboard along with all my other Gamecube stuff...

One of these days...

I don't remember Ridley being particularly hard in that game compared to some of the other fights. If you had that much trouble there, there's another boss at some point after that which will probably make you bury your GameCube for another decade...

Not sure if it would count as a boss...but in Carnivores, the only way to kill a T-Rex was to shoot it in the eyeball, and pretty much the only chance you get to do that is when it is sniffing the air and not yet aware of you...because after that it is charging at you with super speed. A lot of people had to use slow motion cheats just to kill the thing.

I also remember having a LOT of trouble with the final race in Test Drive on the original Xbox.

The rubber band style AI was so annoying. I almost always ended with something like a 3 second difference on every try. Once I even just sat at the starting line for 45 seconds, then raced. Same result. Pretty frustrating, but unfortunately just a fact in many racing games.

The Bed of Chaos in Dark Souls. I say that a boss should take skill to kill, and not be a game of luck.
I can't even count how many times a speedrun has gotten messed up because of that thing.

You remind me of my playthrough of GRID. There were some tough races in that game but I was always able to finish in at least the top 3, except for the final race. It's a simple 3 lap race of the le mans track against a single opponent who is just godly in its driving skill. I'm not the best at racing games, nor was I patient enough to really practice and practice to beat this single race that stood between me and the end of the game. I found this suggestion on a forum that you could make the driver crash so I headed about half way around the course and spent what felt like an eternity pushing a tire wall out into the middle of the road. By the time the A.I. driver was on his 3rd lap and coasting to an easy victory he careened past and completely obliterated his car on the tire wall. From there I casually lapped the track 3 times and won.

I don't typically cheat in games, half of me doesn't even consider this a cheat since all I did was take advantage of the A.I.'s inability to detect certain doom. Still though, watching that car get completely demolished was pretty funny at the time.

In Tomb Raider Legend there's a boss battle in a russian military base with a big machine you have to start up while an invulnerable creature is knocking you out of the seat of the machine all the time. It was just so annoying and frustrating not understanding what I was supposed to do while all the time being interrupted by that stupid monster. ^^

The final boss of Snake, Rattle and Roll for NES, the Moonfoot. Gahh.
I got up there with A LOT of lives, but they just dwindled out as he splatted me over and over. The thing would never die, and after years of attempts, I still haven't beaten him.

I could never defeat Rayman aka Dorkemon Trainer in Blip Blop. He was pretty far in the game and there was no checkpoints, you loose your lives and you start from the scratch. I haven't played it in ages though, i kind a miss it :(
