I've been playing a ton of Megaman games lately and am curious if everyone has the same favorites or if it's all over the place. A couple of mine are:
MM2
MM3
MM9
MMX (favorite)
MMX2
MMX3
MMX8
Zero
ZX: Advent
Legends
I love almost all of the games in the main 5 series (Original, X, Zero, ZX, Legends) and don't have much interest in the other series. Least favorites are MM8 and MMX7. Also, why does Capcom hate this series so much these days.

I absolutely love Mega Man and couldn't agree more with the first two favorites. I bought MM8 recently and while I can understand the general dislike for it amongst MM fans I actually like it. I like the art style with all of the pastels and I like actually having voices. It really makes me think I am watching a cartoon. To each his own though it is still no where near as good as 2 or 3. Capcom has turned into something that I find unrecognizable. The games that they churn out now are simply no where near the same quality as their old games. They have become so consumed with simply trying to make any dime they can and don't really care if their games are good or not as long as people buy them. They are living off of a past reputation and I think with a few exceptions fans are beginning to notice (Monster Hunter comes to mind as the exception, RE series only looks good now the games since 4 suck IMO). I think the main reason they are dragging Mega Man through the mud has to do with tarnishing Keiji Inafune's (spelling) reputation. I think they are still upset with the way things went down with him and are trying to drag his legacy through the mud. Mega Man is my all time favorite character and series. The fans, I think, would all love to have more good games from the series and not some 3D looking Metroid Prime stuff. I like Prime too but it's not Mega Man. I would love and buy in a minute a good 2D Mega Man game with some updated visuals. I really would prefer not to lose the cartoon style though. Ultimately though I don't think we will ever see it. It's a shame too.

I agree with nearly all of those statements. I just played RE6 recently and wow it was just completely unrecognizable as an RE game except for the fact Leon, Chris, and Ada are there. I hate Capcom these days and the first huge blows we're cancelling every Megaman game they had in the pipeline, turning RE into a generic action game, and of course on disc DLC. Anyway though, I just played Megaman X-X8 and had a great time with most of them (X7 excluded). My thought on Megaman these days is why can't Capcom just sell the series to Nintendo or Inafune's company or anyone really.

I enjoyed megaman x street fighter. For what I thought would be a lame game, turned out to be pretty fun.

Mega Man X is by far my favorite. From the classic series, I'd choose Mega Man 2. Never really liked 3 all that much, and I only ever replay it for Proto Man. Also, it might sound weird, but Mega Man 8 is probably my second favorite in the classic series. After 3, most of them got kind of stale. They tried to do something new with Mega Man 7, but it was mostly a bust. They tried again with Mega Man 8, and I think it really worked. Cutscenes aside, it has the same level of quality as the old games in respect to abilities, level design, and music.
Never played the Legends games, but that's definitely something I should get around to.

Yet another unsurprising, non-controversial opinion: 2 and X. There have been a bunch of fun stages and bosses and weapons and so on in several of the others, but those two really came together as complete games for me.

I stuck to 1-6 never went further, I was under the impression that after 6 the series went haywire, I still can't figure out the order, the series just lost me, one day 6 came out next time I saw a title it was X I wondered what happened to 7, 8 and 9, then all sorts of X spinoffs started happening, I never returned to the series. I was a huge Megaman fan growing up, and still return to 1 - 6 for marathons now and then, I can beat the first 6 in a day if I have a good session, but normally I'm in the 2 day ballpark.

I think the only reason they published that was to quell any possible backlash. I used to love Capcom back in the day. If you had a NES the only companies you would have needed were Nintendo, Konami, and Capcom. I really wish the old Capcom would come back but I could honestly care less if the current Capcom shared the same fate as THQ.

I just wanted to mention for those who might not know, the ZX games for the DS are very, very cool. If you are a fan of Mega Man and you enjoy "metroidvania" style gameplay, definitely check out the ZX games on DS. They are unique in the MM universe due to their more open-ended world progression via item acquisition. Excellent production value as well.

They should do Legends again. Also I think they should make an FPS Mega Man but they shouldn't make Mega Man mature. Basically, this will introduce kids to the FPS genre without resorting to playing CoD.

MEGAMAN LEGENDS IS SO GOOD!! Glad I own an original ps1 copy. I've probably beat it around 15-20 times xD

My favorite is still Megaman X. Megaman X4 was pretty good. The new Megaman vs Street Fighter ain't bad either, not as good as 1-4 for the NES, but still worth playing.
They recently cancelled a new MegaMan Legends game.

Anyone remember Megaman Soccer? I remember renting that game a few times from the local movie rental place as a kid.

I loved Legends when it came out and it's still a fun play today. Legends 3 was one of the reasons I bought a 3DS at launch and I was extremely disappointed when it got cancelled. Those were bad times as a 3DS owner, but now it is almost overwhelming with all the good games on the way for it...but still I want Legends 3.

I haven't played as many MM games as I would have liked, but I can comment on the ones I have played :p
MM2 is pretty great. MM8 is pretty not.
MMX is my absolute favorite. MMX2 is fun, as well. I thought MMX4 wasn't too bad, though 1 and 2 are better. I didn't play MMX6 personally, but what I saw of it looked pretty bad.
MMZ is alright, but has some balance issues. I'll probably enjoy later entries more.
MML was pretty fun, but I'm a little sad you couldn't use the DualShock with it.
MMBN was an interesting concept, but not the best execution. I hear the sub-series hits its stride in the third game or so, though.
MMZX... I dunno, just didn't like it.

Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X. I havnt finished every mega man game but from beating mega man anniversary edition MM 2 was the one with only great levels and bosses.
I also like the newer Mega Man 9+10 and the fanmade Mega Man X Street Fighter.
We really need a new Mega Man game. A new series that evolves the game like Mega Man X did.
