All time Classic coming back to this game makes me realize just how much of this game I remember. As kid I was always restarting the game over and over again because we would reach a point where we did not know how to processed so we would just restart. Everything up until getting the Master Sword were practically muscle memory. I love the ambience of the Sea and the vibes of the few populated areas. I think that navigating the sea can be a little annoying but the music and just pure nostalgia I have for this game over shadows that, it just give you a moments to breath and know everything will be okay. The graphic and enhancements added my the HD version make a good looking game look better. This game is simple in its scope but it does the things is sets out to do so well. The only notable thing that I did not realize about this game was that a lot of the sea islands you can explore require set items that are unlocked later so weirdly it was much better to just wait until the you have all of the base items before you explore. I would say this makes sense since the Triforce shard hunt is late in the game but there it could be nice to just be able to organically explore without finding something that is locked behind an item that you do not have. The switch Zelda games actually remedy this. There is something specials about this process as well that makes coming back to things special because now you have the means to complete said thing. The story of Wind Wake is also very simple and have very few relevant characters I do not think that is a problem it is just simple by comparison to others. Still a masterpiece of a game that holds up very well.

The most memorable Zelda game

Good
- cel shading was a good choice on GC, and still looks unique and beautiful in the remaster in 2023
- one of my favorite camera design in any video game. It can be zoomed really far out if I needed to see a lot. Sensitivity is also perfect
- the controls are smooth. Rolling around gave a nice sense of speed and being able to time perfect rolls to the next area felt satisfying
- parry system is a very nice addition. The animation also looks really cool.
- enemy design is detailed. There are little nuances like them being surprised, angry, and retrieving their weapon if they dropped it.
- swift sail is an absolute necessary and welcome addition in the remake. Made travelling 1000x less annoying
- the story is actually pretty interesting. The ending was a little heart felt.
- there is a perfect mixture of humor and seriousness in the game, that made the whole experience memorable and charming. The side stories of all the inhabitants was also pretty interesting.
- the game progression was done very well

Bad
- Enemies are a little too easy to defeat
- the triforce gathering portion of the game was very annoying, as there is virtually no hint on where to go. The only way to find it was to literally explore every quadrant of the map.
- the wind and earth temples were also too ambiguous to locate. You had to find the cyclone frog, then tele to a blocked off island. Again, you have to randomly drift around until you found it
- the tingle triforce maps were useless, unless you had the chart of the island in that quadrant, which I didn't. There was no way I was going to hunt to fill every quadrant.
- having to use the command melody every time you want to control your partner is tedious. After one time, the game should allow you to press a button to switch to them

"You have to ping pong around the map in order to do the final two temples".

Wind Waker is an incredible continuation of the Zelda franchise, though the graphics created a lot of backlash against the new direction for the series, the reality is that it makes it stand out even more and makes it more memorable than the likes of Zelda Twilight princess.

From the gameplay to exploration the game shines brightly at every turn, especially thanks to the much welcomed additions found on the Wii U version such as the fast sail.

The game is ever so slightly let down by a more repetitive last third which puts you into combat gauntlets a bit too often for my taste. Regardless of that, the joint dungeons, the music and the characters make this journey incredibly compelling even after more than a decade from it's original release.

This is easily my favourite of the 'traditional' 3D Zelda games before Breath of the Wild.
It's not without its issues though. The pacing could be better, frame drops are quite common, and the motion controls' unreliability can be frustrating.
Apart from that, everything about this game is outstanding: the characters, dungeons, world, atmosphere, etc.
I'm also convinced this game will continue to look amazing for decades to come, unlike Twilight Princess or even Skyward Sword.

'The Wind Waker' - это выдающаяся игра в серии 'The Legend of Zelda', с великолепной музыкой, персонажами, физикой, механиками и атмосферой.

Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda and one of my all-time favorite games period. It’s far from perfect but broadly speaking, I feel it offers a highly polished and engaging campaign of the Ocarina-to-Skyward era while also rekindling the freedom and adventure of the older Zeldas that wouldn’t be revisited until BOTW and TOTK.

The main campaign very much follows Ocarina with one of the most unique stories and settings in the whole franchise and a great roster of dungeons. The main problem here is that it’s too short. This game really needed two more dungeons, and the Jabu pearl in particular always feels like a slap in the face. There’s also no reason why you shouldn’t be able to play the last two dungeons in either order, but you are forced to play them that way. At the end of the campaign, you are sent on a massive fetch quest and many criticize this part but I actually think it’s one of the best parts of the game. Wind Waker is effectively a pirate game so I think a massive treasure hunt is warranted.

The map is a massive ocean of 49 islands waiting to be explored. It is filled with interesting content and meaningful rewards. There is some copy-pasting, about a quarter of the islands are throwaways, but most islands are worth visiting once and hide some really great rewards. I’d certainly say that the islands are more interesting and unique than the vast majority of the shrines in BOTW/TOTK and they actually make sense in the world. Many deride the amount of sailing but I don’t mind it too much. It really doesn’t take THAT long to sail anywhere and you get fast-travel halfway through the campaign. BOTW and TOTK similarly require dozens of hours of running, flying, or climbing in a straight line and I don’t find sailing to be that much less engaging. The HD version also adds the super-sail which makes this a non-issue.

One major way I feel this game falters is the interplay between the campaign and the free-ocean. If you start thoroughly exploring the ocean immediately, you’re going to hit quite a few roadblocks that you can’t overcome because you don’t have an item yet. BOTW/TOTK smartly dodged this bullet by giving you every ability at the beginning of the game. Here is my number one recommendation here: stick to the main quest as much as possible until you’ve beaten all the dungeons. This way, you’ll be able to fully explore all the islands as you come across them. The other recommendation would be to feed all the fish, fill out your map, and listen to their hints. They tell you extremely valuable information and you’ll surely need a guide a few times if you ignore the fish. This, along with the end-game fetch-quest will be incredibly tedious if you ignore the fish and refuse to engage with it, but if you accept it for what it is, I think it’s one of the most enjoyable and rewarding undertakings in the whole franchise.

I think Wind Waker has the most enjoyable side content in the whole Zelda series. I always fill out out the map and do as much as I can, and yet, it still leaves me wanting more. If I had one complaint, it’s that finding your last couple items can be a nightmare. Later on, you can find maps that tell you where every heart and treasure map are, but it doesn’t mark off the ones you have already, meaning these maps are basically worthless. I generally get to about 95% completion and stop with this game, as there are a couple random collectibles. Simply marking these maps with what you’ve completed would have improved the 100% quest immensely and was an obvious missed opportunity for the HD version.

Wind Waker definitely isn’t perfect. The main quest is excellent but feels incomplete. The side content is absolutely fantastic in this game but is let down by the many roadblocks you’ll encounter due to item-roadblocks and the game not helping you track down your last couple items. I actually disliked this game the first time I played it because I rejected the fish, side content, and triforce quest and just wanted a dungeon gauntlet like OOT and LTTP. However, on my second playthrough, I accepted all these elements, took my time, and explored thoroughly. Now, after five or so more playthroughs, it’s still my favorite Zelda, an all-time favorite game for me, and IMO the best pirate game ever made.

The first half is limiting and the second half is slow, but man, do I love it. For such a rushed game, the world feels fleshed out, there are quests and collectibles galore, and the mechanics all work together to make a fun, albeit slow, experience. It’s perhaps lacking the same action-adventure of other Zelda games, but the slow-burn of the late-game progression is super satisfying.

Il y a quand même beaucoup de musique provenant d'Ocarina of Time..

I really enjoyed Wind Waker, but it definitely showed it's age. I decided to not play Ocarina of Time, don't really know why, but wasn't feeling it, so i played Wind Waker, and wasn't disappointed. I had mixed feelings about the exploration, which i didn't do much of but other than that getting on the boat was always a nice feeling. I don't really have much to complain about Wind Waker, except the camera and lock on system which were very inaccurate. I liked the combat and items, but the difficulty spike on the final bosses was surprising. Other than that everything that i expected from a Zelda game was there, incredible music, funny characters and joyful exploration.

Very solid Zelda title. Although the oceans can a bit boring to sail, the Fast Sail makes a lot easier to deal with. Finding new islands is a fun distraction in your travels and there's plenty secrets to find just like in any Zelda game. The artstyle holds up extremely well even to this day and the improved visuals make it that much cleaner to look at. Music is great as expected. Only disappointment is how easy the dungeons are, but still enjoyed them.

Graphics 10/10:

Even on the Gamecube this game holds up but it feels perfect with the HD Version and feels so Charming!

Gameplay 8/10:

Just like any Zelda game the Combat is the typical Slash and use an item here and there but adds more of an interesting touch with the roll to the back move!

Audio 10/10:

The Cartoony aspect adds that extra flavor in the quirky yet fantastic Sound Design

OST 10/10:

The Soundtrack to Wind Waker is unique being the Air twisted Sea Shanty like feeling with the Game's mechanic focusing on The Wind Waker!

Difficulty (Easy?):

The Difficulty is easy seeing how this is a shorter title but only stumps you if you haven't explored enough like The Triforce chart Quest!

Grind (Hard for Completionists):

There is basically no real Grind here unless Your completing the game, then you'll need many Rupees and Certain Items for Quests!

Story (Spoilers) 9/10:

Wind Waker has a flavorful story being the ultimate charming moment game with moment's like The Helmaroc King in The Forsaken Fortess, The Tower Of Gods Rising As the Statues have been given their Orbs, or even regaining full power to the Master Sword! Wind Waker has too many great moment's to list and the Charm is perfect for the game!

Game Time 8/10:

Wind Waker's Main story is a short story which is the only gripe I have cause it is such a good game so it'll take roughly over 20 Hours! I guess go for the 100% Completion if you need that Desire to Play More!

Bugs 9/10:

I can't recall any bugs but feel as they only happen for speedrun tricks!

Oho Wind Waker. Much improved from the GC original, from graphics to end game questing. And Hero Mode might be new. And the faster sailing. Man, this was fun.

The game is very clearly flawed. It is very noticeable that the game was rushed and it's hard to not wonder how much better the game could have been. But even then, I still love the game. Just has a certain charm to it that is hard to not enjoy

Amazing. I love zelda games. This one is all about exploration and I got addicted to the side quests and heart pieces. I really got into the art style and the dungeons it was all great.
