This remastered version of DOOM II is absolutely excellent! Not only does it upgrade the graphics and provide support for modern PCs and displays, but the TNT: Evilution and The Plutonia Experiment episodes (previously sold as “Final Doom”) and twenty master levels (previously sold as “Master Levels for Doom II”) are also included. The Super Shotgun is the most awesome weapon you have ever held in your hands!

i found the level design in this too complex for the geometry & enemy numbers more contemptuous than the first game, although the super-shotgun is here, so that is something. i was going to keep it for the SS support in mods, but who knows if i'd ever play the mods either, besides those i'm already thinking about with the original.Updated 1 Month Ago

Segundo, QUE SE JODAN LOS PAIN ELEMENTALS Y CHAINGUNNERS
SERIOUSLY FUCK THEM
Los archis? Lo puedo aguantar, Lost souls? Claro, Mancubus? Pues claro

Man, this game was fun. I got a lot more into it than I did the first, and I feel it's pretty much just an improvement of that game. It feels so good to shut your mind off and play this game. It definitely helped me out when I wasn't feeling great and just needed something to do. The final boss was a bit of a disappointment and I feel the first game did it better. However, the level design felt a lot better in this game. I have a feeling I'll return to this game whenever I feel like taking out some rage, and I know there are some mods I want to try out.Updated 3 Months Ago

Coming straight out my first original DOOM experience, I was optimistic about DOOM II, but honestly it completely missed the mark. The weapons and movement are the same if not better, a few of the new enemies are interesting, and there are a few interesting levels, but overall, many of the new enemies were very poorly designed and unbalanced, and most of the levels were incomplete, untested, and poorly designed. It still managed to capture some of the core doom experience, but the new enemies and level designs bring it down drastically, and I overall didn't enjoy my experience coming out of it.Updated 4.5 Months Ago

More of a mixed bag than the original, but in both directions. The great levels are even better, which I need to point out rules! DOOM is good when it's good! The nightmare levels that expect you to know to click on random walls and solve teleportation puzzles are here in greater numbers and more elaborate solutions.Updated 6 Months Ago

To sum up, Doom II is another option to experience the old FPS games that have a great soundtrack and a better level design, but it still gets repetitive as you play with the bad master level design. The game is a 5.75/10.Updated 7 Months Ago

*Warning: Spoilers* Epic sequel to an already great classic.
DOOM II is an great follow up of the first DOOM game and offers some new features like new enemies, a new weapon, and a many more levels.
The principle is still the same as the first game. You choose one of the five campaigns and complete all the levels. Instead of fighting demons on Mars however, they now have invaded earth via the open portal that was left behind on Mars, and it is your job to sweep the streets clean of demon scum.
Story wise, DOOM II is simple but dark as ever. The invading demons have slaughtered almost all people on earth and the few that survive, have build space ships to get away from earth, into space. You help disable the barrier that the demons put up to prevent them from leaving and, when all survivors eventually escaped, you are literally the only human left on earth.
Although you saved humanity, you accept your fate that earth is lost and you wait for your inevitable fate. However, then, a message from the survivors from space is transmitted to you, revealing the location of the demon portal, where the invasion is coming from. You fight your way to the portal but discover that it cannot be destroyed from the earth side. You enter the portal, straight into hell itself and defeat the biggest demon you have ever seen. After this, you close the portal and you saved humanity once again.
Graphically, DOOM II looks the same as the first game. But with a series like this, that is no issue and I did not expect (especially at the time) some revolutionary change in visuals. Same goes for the sound, unchanged, but still as badass as ever. The new enemy designs were really cool and added to the overall experience.
I really liked the “earth setting” of DOOM II instead of space stations and factories, it really enhanced the experience for me and gave the game a unique feel. The levels were diverse and looked great.
The addition of the Double Barreled shotgun was great, and I used this badass weapon a lot. The sound feedback you get from this thing alone, was worth it to play DOOM II.
The Master Levels for DOOM II DLC contained twenty new levels, making DOOM II the biggest and longest 2,5D shooter I ever played when compared to DOOM I, Duke Nukem and Wolfenstein.
In conclusion, DOOM II did not disappoint and, along with several other classics, is one of those games that I can boot up anytime and complete for the fun of it, without it ever boring me.
Definitely recommend this blast from the past!

I was surprised how much I liked Doom II less than the original. The level design was much more obnoxiously maze-like and unfriendly than the first, with many levels feeling very arbitrary and annoying. Doom II is much harder than the first game, which is mostly great, except that sometimes it again bleeds over into annoyance rather than a fun challenge. The new weapon and monsters really are fantastic additions, though, which makes up for a lot of the shortcomings I felt from this game. Sadly, it's closer to Thy Flesh Consumed than the original in my opinion, but Doom II offers enough new content and interesting ideas that I would say it is still great, just not as good as the original.Updated 1.5 Years Ago

A cult game and even a pop-culture element, some may say, Doom II came shortly after Doom I, with some new added enemies but with the same goriness and hardcore game-play.Some decades had already passed since the game was launched, while many successful FPS games, both online and campaigns, thrilled the shooters and gaming community, but the game id Software launched in 1994 still remains a landmark in the domain.
Without adding any relevant spoilers, the final boss is an interesting surprise and the fun in game-play is guaranteed.

difficulty played: Ultra violenceDoom 2, the sequel to the beloved original. But, it is better or worse. Well....superior in some ways but to me, inferior all around. First off, the positive. The super shotgun makes it's triumphant appearance and man is it a blast to use. A meatshot will more or less silence all but the most annoying demons. Speaking of which the demon types added some nice variety as doom one mainly just felt like 45% gunmen/shotgun, 45% imps and 10% trace demons. But truthfully, the good ends here. Level design wise it's quite shaky. Episode one levels felt fairly meh all around while episode 2, many levels felt unique and fairly refreshing. The final episode however were just linear areas that were simply packed to the absolute brim with all kinds of demons and felt like they were just trying to end the game but pad it out a little by dumping far too many enemies on you. The sheer, overwhelming maelstrom of enemies is just too much as you will either die via excess gangbang or run through because you simply do not have enough ammo. This game also has plenty of cheap "oh you picked up an item? well here's 15 pinkies out of nowhere cause fuck you" syndrome. Enemies feel like they were placed less for challenge and more to simply piss you off. Were it not for savestates, I likely would have stopped playing less than halfway through; As a result, unlike doom 1, I didn't bother attempting to find all the secrets as near the end I really was just trying to get it done. In short, yes doom 2 is fun but it did practically nothing new while actually taking a step back in level structure which is a pretty serious blow. However it has enough to keep you engaged and as I mentioned before, I really did like the mid game stages. 7/10.

I don't have too much to say about this, its doom. You probably already know what your getting yourself into already. Gameplay is nice and fast and fluid, everything is basically as you would expect and its really good in that regard. The main flaw of doom 2 is it's level design being either too open or way too cryptic for anyone to find (one level had keys in a secret area?). If it wasnt for the level design I would have had a much better experience going through. I played the game on Ultra Violence and that's the difficulty I'd recommend as it felt pretty balanced while offering a large challenge.Gameplay - doom
Music - doom
Appearance - doom
Story - doom
Difficulty - Moderate (Death Count: 50+)
Skeleton Rating: 4/5 - revenant
Overall Rating: 3.5/5 - Great

Aside from the low resolution on the DOS version available through steam, and the mouse movement forwards and back, it holds up quite well! The weapons and enemy variety is great, and the speed at which you move, combined with how much is thrown at you, makes for a very intense and enjoyable FPS. Ultra Violence is pretty hard, but absolutely the way to play. 87/100.Updated 2.5 Years Ago

Doom II is a blast and holds up incredibly well, just like its predecessor. Doom II's levels become far more intricate as the game goes on and more powerful enemies are introduced that are absent in the original Doom. Some levels reach very high difficulty even on Hurt Me Plenty mode. I tend to favor the simplicity of the first's design and the lack of these absurdly powerful enemies, giving the first Doom the edge between the two. But Doom II is certainly no slouch.Updated 3 Years Ago

+New enemies are huge and varied+Game set up to reward changing up weaponry
+Large amount of enmies on screen at once with the ability to cause infighting
-Level design can be confusing
-Platforming without jumping
-Trigger boxes are smaller then they need be.
Overview: The new enemies which were added added alot of variety to the game. They are much more powerful then previous demons and thus need the use of the more heavier guns so the game is actively making me switch weapons for different situations. I think there are only 2 guns i rarely used and that's cause you quickly replace then with more powerful versions. There also a huge amount of enemies on screen at multiple points of the game which is pretty impressive for the age of the game especially as the sprites never fade and stay where they are throughout the level. Still the large amount of enemies maybe daunting but the game has allowed friendly fire from the enemies which causes them to in fight at points in the game which again for the age of the game is rather impressive and makes these larger fights much more funner to deal with.
Unfortunately there are still some problems with game mainly the level design. Most of the levels II found confusing at points in where i'm suppose to go and do. Certain doors need to be shot instead of opened but there isn't really any indication of which. Certain levels expect platforming the game without a jump button which while the sprint fine still feels weird to deal with and certain doors are open by triggers in the world but the triggers hit box is just too limited in size.
Overall I've enjoyed the game but not as much as Doom.

I never really played Doom 2 when it came out (though I played Doom 1 enough), but playing it VR adds another layer of immersion and nostalgia to this game that really reels you in.However, it's not as good as the first and original Doom. The first few levels are good, then the middle levels (such as the city) and just poorly designed. The last few levels pick up again though, and the super shotgun rocks.
I'm glad I beat it, but if I return to Doom in VR it will be either with the original Doom or a mod. It's a good game if you're a fan of Doom, just not up to the original quality.

DOOM II is a masterful continuation of the original shooter. It hones down of excellent gameplay, unique weapons, advanced enemies, and challenging level design. I can't say I enjoyed this as much as the first DOOM, but it was absolutely a great game. Some parts have significant difficulty spikes, which make the gameplay pacing uneven, but by having a game that rewards your success by throwing more enemies at you, it's hard not to try and push your way through the next level. Absolutely a great game.Updated 3.5 Years Ago

Compared to original Doom:+ several new enemies which make the gameplay far more interesting
+ 1 pretty powerful new gun
+ ingenious last boss, though a bit tricky to beat due to game controls
- city levels starting from level 12 are dull with huge empty areas, I often didn't know where to go in these and I lost interest in the game after playing through a couple of them. I took a month long break from the game because of this, but levels 21 onwards were fun again and a breeze to play through
- a few levels require to "sniff walls" in order to progress - you have to activate a wall which doesn't look like a door
- platforming sections in a game where you cannot jump or even look up or down
- disappointing ending - they threw in a presentation of all mobs because without it there would be just one screen with text and uninspiring background. Overall narration is just a total of 3 screens of text, there is no map that shows progress between levels like in original Doom.
Overall I have mixed feelings about this game - new enemies make the gameplay more interesting, but everything else seems worse than in the original Doom. It feels more like a fan made expansion to the first game rather than a sequel.
