Next Smash Bros characters?

I have some... Opinions of the next Smash Bros characters, but this topic is really interesting,what do you think?

I want Chibi-Robo, but it'll never happen.

Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden has been a perennial favorite in the rumor mill since the beginning, right alongside Steve from Minecraft. Since Steve happened, I would not be surprised if Ryu came along next. Doom Guy has also been suggested quite often. None of those suggestions get me excited though. Honestly, chances are good that all of the remaining additions are third-party characters that I don't care about. Not that I'm against third-party characters. I just don't think Nintendo has chosen anybody that is to my highly refined tastes. 🤣

I've been campaigning for Excitebike to be a fighter since before Smash 4 came out, even though I think their original game is just okay at best. The thought of a character beating up other characters on a motorcycle just appeals to me for some reason, and Excitebike apparently almost got considered for Melee so there's that.

I honestly have no idea who else they should add though. I feel like you could make a case for characters like Toad or Waddle Dee but they feel like "next game" kind of characters.

inb4 FFXII character gets announced (?) And I agree with Ryu Hayabusa being a strong contender. Doom Guy I'm more unsure of, because of some statements made from ID Softwares I've read, but you never know.

While I don't know how they'd tone it down, I'd like a Mortal Kombat rep, just because of how iconic it is. Not much attachment to that franchise, but it'd be neat for me. If it weren't for the mii costume, I'd be talking about Travis Touchdown too...

What I'm hoping for will probably not happen Yay more twewy talk! but I can see stuff like Crash Bandicoot or the Prince of Persia for big names of days gone by. The Prince from Katamari would be hilarious but not likely un the least. Reimu from Touhou is also a "won't happen, but I'd love it" pick.

I can also see.at least one more first party. Someone from Xenoblade 2, Paper Mario, or finally getting Isaac (unlikely) into the game...Something along those lines. Oh, Geno. That guy too, I guess.

Sadly, there is no Final Fantasy XII character popular enough to get into Smash. If there was going to be another Final Fantasy representative, it would probably be Noctis from FF15. But I don't see that happening, either.

I wouldn't mind seeing Sora, but I'd imagine Disney would poo-poo that idea real quick. I suspect that Master Chief would be a very unpopular choice among fans, but given how friendly Microsoft and Nintendo are these days, it wouldn't shock me. And I wouldn't mind that, to be honest. I like Halo more than I like Doom... Crash Bandicoot would be a good fit; it's not someone that I would be super excited about, but at the very least that option wouldn't make me retch.

There are VERY few Nintendo characters left that I feel are truly deserving. Captain Toad might be an interesting choice. Maybe Birdo? 😜 Or maybe a Fire Emblem character since there aren't enough of those...

Rayman would be nice and I'm not really into playing Sonic myself but Eggman would be funny and give Sonic his antagonist. I used to want Shovel Knight but glad he made it in as trophy at least and that's pretty darn cool for an indie. Oh! Shantae would be loads of fun too.

My #1 desired character would be Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue... but I think there's next to a zero percent chance of that happening.

Some of those above are good bets and you see requested a lot, some others I think you see mentioned here and there that are possible bets include Dixie Kong, Viewtiful Joe, Knuckles, and Sephiroth. For Nintendo license properties... I would not mind seeing Mike Jones from Startropics get a nod... mainly because I want to see Star Tropics make a return.

Finally, it will never happen in 1,000,002.78654329871 years but...

I want to see some cereal mascots, like Tony the Tiger, Lucky the Leprechaun, or Toucan Sam. That is all I ask for. Thank you.

Nintendo twitted that a new character announcement is coming today during the game awards, so seems like we at least will know one more!

Since it's game Awards it's probably something big-ish and not another Bayleth or Min Min hype-wise, at least to me. But, if you want a conspiracy theory that means absolutely nothing, here is my absurd take:

Today is the reveal of the fighter. Tomorrow a spirit event starts in Ultimate called "Beware of Mushrooms". Geno's most associated song is "Beware the Forest's Mushrooms". Coincidence? I THINK SO! But I think the timing is pretty funnny at least.

Personally I feel indifferent towards Sephiroth but what I was excited, confused, and happy to see is that Cloud had a different sword and a different final smash. What could this mean?

I maintain it's the perfect drag lip sync song. You don't even need to know the words, just shalabalaba tuna and the occasional SEPHIROTH, all while vamping, maybe serving some eyeography, the whole fantasy.

We'll probably have four songs now. 😂 And the two new songs will both be versions of One-Winged Angel. Hopefully the Advent Children version is one of them. That's definitely my favorite.

But I am very pleased to see Sephiroth descend into battle.
