Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was the game that I was planning on spending the rest of my time in 2018 on, and much of my time in 2019 on as well. As someone who put 300+ hours into Super Smash Bros. For The 3DS, I was expecting something that would grab a hold of me and never really let go. What I got was a great game, and I'm glad for that, but there is something crucial missing from this title. When I played the original Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64, I almost always had either my brother or a friend around to play it with. It never got old, even with what little content the game had. I can't speak into Melee or Brawl as I never purchased a Gamecube or Wii U, but I was still given a treat with the most recent 3DS Smash, as it had fun challenges to complete, and alternate Special moves to unlock for each character through Classic mode completions. That alone kept me busy for a good 200 of the 300+ hours I put into it. However, with Ultimate, I've found nothing that could pull me into the game for longer than an hour or so. Multiplayer is either too competitive for a casual player like myself, or too laggy. World of Light gets old after a bit, and that has to do with the game nearly encouraging you to use your favorite character throughout the entirity of it. Spirits are like glorified trophies, and there's no way of knowing how to unlock all of them. Some can be unlocked through Classic mode, some through World of Light, some through the Spirit Board, and some through Summoning, which gets rid of some of the spirits you already collected. In other words, it's a jumbled mess to try and collect them in an orderly fashion, and that ruins it for me. There are no extra special abilities to unlock, which takes the fun grind out of Classic mode. And outside of that there's pretty much just normal Smash modes. I have a friend who I've been able to play with a few times, and that's really enjoyable, but when we aren't playing together, I have no interest in playing the game. It's just sad to me because the game plays great, and there is tons of content, but none of it pulls me in to playing the game for days on end. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I skipped the last Smash Bros (and haven't played this one yet) because I figured this would be my experience with it. Without someone else that is also really into the game, it isn't all that compelling to play it in the first place.

just a tip - break your text into smaller paragraphs - dummies like me find it hard to follow a wall of text and it would be easier to read if broken up a bit =)
