Anyone here play any cryptocurrency games?

I looked into Axie Infinity but the cost to start is prohibitively high so I passed. If the game were more enticing (think Runescape/Eve Online) I would have bit the bullet and paid the entry fee. From what I understand, they're really focussed on PVP and Esport aspects which is a big turn off for me.

Also anyone know of any good upcoming (or already released) crypto games that has good growth prospects?

I've seen some around but I never actually played one myself. Most of the ones I've seen are either sketchy as hell, barely a videogame, or just really bland.
If a game wants me to use it as an "investment" to foster actual money, it better provide more than some shovelware-level game with clipart visuals. And that's aside that I don't care much for so-called games that base themselves on cryptocurrency anyway because, to me as a crypto-layman, it just ends up making an often mediocre game unnecessarily complicated.

Also a lot of the ones I've seen, like Earth 2 or Nimses, are more like dry real-estate simulators (with some janky/obtuse UI) than an actual game. Just buying and selling meaningless data in hopes of somehow manufacturing real-world money out of it.

They look like one hell of a scam to me.

The way I see it, crypto is going to be a fundamental part of our future, hence I want to gain more exposure to it in it's infancy.
Being a gamer I'd like to play a game that could be both enjoyable and lucrative.

Back in the mid 2000s I played Diablo 2 and sold my excess items, it earned me a couple hundred which was a lot for me at the time. I genuinely loved playing Diablo with my friends and the money was just a bonus.

My priority for a crypto related game is definitely fun first and money as a nice extra. I don't want to end up as a defacto gold farmer lol.

No offense but an economy dictated by the whims of Elon Musk doesn't sound like a stable investment which is why I stay away from crypto. Maybe there's high short-term gains if you're the right combination of lucky and smart. I for one am not lucky and don't like risk.

Plus you could lose it all in a hack and not be able to recover it like you can with real money.

I don't know that it's going to go away but I also don't think it will ever be a major part of society. Heck, most of the times I hear about crypto-currency it's either how much someone has in their "wallet" but hasn't actually "made" or it's about the volatility of the market or it being stolen in hacks.

Can't say I've played any. Crypto is basically a market scam (it has absolutely 0 future as a complete standalone currency and isn't even used like one now but instead as a tradable) and the few Crypto related games I've heard of sound boring as hell, so pass.

There have been so many rugpulls and scams in crypto that the skeptism and distrust is definitely warranted. It's probably one of the quickest ways to go broke.
I'd never put money in a project with dubious leadership or track record, however in saying this, I firmly believe there are solid projects out there. A minority to be sure, but they do exist, hence this post.

I am convinced we are in the midst of the 2020s version of the 90s internet revolution. I was too young to take advantage of the latter, but I'm sure as hell not missing the former.

If I wanted to take a gamble on the financial market, I would trade stocks. I don't trade stocks so i don't see why i would get involved in something that isn't regulated, is at far higher risk of fraud and is basically money laundering with Monopoly money.

So I'm certainly not interested in doing it virtually.

Just don't forget the bubble that popped.

Edit: I should note, as per the non-advice of letstalkaboutdune, I do invest in the stock market. In fact when I have savings to spare, that's where they go.

Honestly, this puts it very well into words. I pretty much think the same.
I don't see much of a difference between crypto investments and stock trading either, but at least stocks can be studied and somewhat predicted.

That's a logical stance. Risk tolerance is dependent on the individual.

For example I always cringe when I hear people talk about how they got their retired parents or grandparents into crypto. It's still an emerging market, it's going to experience growing pains - hence the wild swings and multiple crashes of the past decade. For older people who may not have another 10+ years to sit around waiting for their investments to bear fruit, crypto would be a terrible investment.

On the other hand, for those of us who can afford to hold for 10+ years the payoffs could be much higher than compared with already established markets like stocks and property. Of course with higher rewards comes higher risks.

So I'm gonna leave it at that because I'm starting to sound like a crypto shill - which was absolutely not the intention!
From the replies so far, it doesn't seem like people here are interested in crypto games or crypto in general. Fair enough.
