The grandest challenges one must overcome resides within. A narrative consisting of one's own psyche triumphs any other. Games can be extremely expressive, yet remarkably limited at the same time. The best description I can give this game is no other than this:Too ambitious but also lethargic in its gameplay elements. The story here is not utilized to its full potential, having some problems as to when demanding focus from the player and when to let go. Some very, very interesting notes scattered around, dulled by the sheer amount of obsolete information mixed in. The purpose of this is most likely to build a believable world - in other words, worldbuilding. However, this approach lessens the impact of the most interesting parts which could have left a remarkable imprint by being presented in the right manner.
The whole phone kit with different apps are a cool idea on paper but serves very little purpose. Enemies are far too predictable, leaving no suspense or intrigue. Gunplay is mediocre and could have mostly been left out. This game is simply confused as to what it wants to accomplish, granted that adds a bit to the charm.
The true strength here lies in some segments of the story. If this game were merely about the puppetmaster, then it surely would have been worthy of the title as a true psychological horror. Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Doesn't matter, it is as it is. Some goofy parts later in the game that didn't quite seem to fit, yet felt like a breath of fresh air and offered some humour and relapse.
Overall, I had quite a good time with this game. And I must agree with others here; there aren't going to be games like this one anymore. The risk and execution is far too demanding in this mainstream and politically correct enviorment. Another relapse; I could have had an unforgettable experience with this game, had the developers fleshed out their vision and execution. 70/100, entertaining but flawed.

A really interesting, multi-layered mystery story that feels almost Layers of Fear like and has some twists I did not expect. Great characters too. The only real downside is some infuriating stealth sections that aren't well designed, despite the game really pushing you to not kill anyone. You don't see stuff like this at the AAA level anymore and that's a shame.Updated 1 Year Ago

I really enjoyed this one, up until the conclusion which felt a bit muddled and rushed.Pros
+ Amazing music/atmosphere!
+ Warrants a second playthrough once you've discovered whats actually happening
+ The Asylum is properly scary/disturbing.
Cons
- Switching from your main character to a very distant secondary one for the last hour or so was very distracting and a bit odd given you never return to the primary one
- I was confused as to the story throughout! I think that was on purpose, but some more clues to keep you engaged would help.
- Because of the lack of story engagement, alot of levels I was just running about doing what I think I was meant to without fully knowing why.
- Combat/stealth got a little repetitive/annoying - shooting one NPC seemed to draw every other one in the level on you!
Overall a fun wee game, would definitely play more like this with a few improvements as per above.

This story-driven horror game has a few very interesting gameplay elements based on your (in-game) smartphone. You can use it to examine the crime scene (fingerprints etc), to light the environment, to show your position on the map and to locate enemies and electric conduits using heat detection. This makes exploration much more fun than in simular games.Enemy engagement is very diverse as well. You can just shoot them using your "corner" gun, which is designed to fire around corners without being exposed to enemy fire. But you can also try to approach enemies from behind and take them down with a stealth kill, or even try to avoid them completely by slightly altering the environment.
The latter is possible because most sections in the game are played using a virtual reality device that can be used to retrieve memories of yourself and other people. The story around this is intriguing, but also very confusing until you discover what's really going on in the final part of the game.
There are several other flaws as well; when you're spotted by an enemy, suddenly all enemies in the area know exactly where you are and start shooting at you. There's no quicksave, so if you want to finish a section undetected you need to start again from the last checkpoint. You're also supposed to scan many objects with your smartphone, but there's no visual indication which objects have already been scanned. This is especially annoying when restarting a checkpoint, since you don't know which scans have been registered by the game or not.
Despite these flaws, Get Even is a fresh breath of air in the genre, and is definitely worth checking out!

Updated 2.5 Years Ago

Get Even has one of the best stories in videogames ever. Things and events are not what they seem at first, and there are some really cool plot twists. However, the recollection of events is what holds the game together. Aside from it, Get Even is basically a walking simulator with occasional stealth and shooting, both done subpar to what you'd expect in a game nowadays (or when it was released 3 years ago, whatever).
Again, the story alone makes me to recommend the game, especially if you liked games like Spec Ops: The Line and Bioshock: Infinite.

Not many games like this out there, which makes it a truly unique experience. The story is amazing, mature and intelligently written. A mystery so fragmented it makes you use your brain and keeps you curious only to blow your mind with some unexpected plot twists near the end.

A difficult game to recommend. Features a really interesting non-linear science-fiction story with an actually decent use of amnesia as a storytelling device. It also has terrific voice acting, sound and music as well. The main problem with the game surrounds the gameplay which is basic stealth that gets tedious fairly quickly. This makes getting through the game a bit of a slog, but I think ultimately it is worth it to experience the story.Updated 5.5 Years Ago

This is a Super good game with a really Great story and very Memorable Characters, the story is slightly hard to understand at first and there are a few moments that have me Questioning what's going on, but other than that, it is a really good Psychological Thriller/Mystery game, It is not much of a horror game but more of a Thriller game at most, it is Most Recommended to pick this game up, 9 1/2 out of 10.Updated 6.5 Years Ago

Solid game. Gameplay was probably the weakest part because the gunplay wasn't good and the stealth was terrible. The graphics are pretty nice although nothing compared to a proper AAA game. Story was one of the best I've experienced in a long time. The music, voice acting and overall sound design is some of the best I've ever seen in a videogame. Only takes about 8hrs to beat the game but since its not a big title and is relatively cheap its worth it. You can redo levels to collect all the items and stuff, this will let you get unlockable weapons and all that so if you like 100%ing stuff you'll enjoy that. Definitely buy this game and support the developers.Updated 7 Years Ago
