In which an evil witch tries to prevent a cute princess from imposing Chibi fashion on her subjects = the only Zelda where we are indisputably on the villain side.Let's keep it short : it's probably the worst Zelda game ever, since it's not a Zelda game, at all. Just an excuse to use the 3DS multi features which never worked properly, no more here than elsewhere.

Co-op this game is a 7/10, still a step back from Four Swords Adventures and the gameplay is very limited. When each player is limited to 1 item, it just doesn't feel like a Zelda game.Solo this game is rubbish. All the puzzles are designed for 3 players, so you move one character, then switch and move another, then switch and move a third and finally have one character literally carry the team to the end of the level.
If you ever tried to play monopoly solo, then you have an idea of how this game feels.
It's a real shame that there is no 2 player co-op as my wife and I would really love to play this, just us two. Getting that 3rd player is inconvenient, and a bit mean as most other people we know also have a partner. Someone is either left out or you have to play solo.
Even just having the option to have the two unused characters follow you would have made a massive difference.
3/10 because of poor design choices. Worst Zelda.

The low point in the Zelda series. It's difficult to find solid teammates and even when you do, the levels simply aren't that fun. Single player is a bore but also a necessity due to lost connections and poor teammates. The outfits are fun for gameplay but the story is an embarrassment. A low-point for the series.Updated 1.5 Years Ago

The problem for me is that this game does not work as well in single player or anonymous online. Do not know why the dopples couldn't have been an AI insteadUpdated 2.5 Years Ago

Very, VERY underrated. It's actually a very fun game if you are looking for a solid multiplayer title and not the next grand entry in the Zelda series, if a tiny bit light on content. The music is particularly catchy.Updated 3 Years Ago

Sweet Jesus, this was nowhere near as fun as I thought it would be. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to get people to do absolutely ridiculous tasks with super precision needs to rethink their life decisions. I feel sorry for anyone who tried this game online, if it actually worked.Updated 3 Years Ago

Just such a bland game for me. The online multiplayer is practically dead, it took 20 minutes to find one game and the other players disconnected halfway through. It's also pretty bad in single player, obviously this was focused on multiplayer but I'm kind of late to the party to play with others. Why is there no drop button? I always feel like I'm threading the needle because you can only throw players, bombs, etc.; but not simply drop things.A bigger underlying issue, this really doesn't need to be a part of the Zelda franchise. It doesn't feel like it fits at all with Zelda. I get Four Swords was already a thing but even this is much different than what Four Swords was. This should have been its own thing.

The Legend of Zelda Triforce Heros was a very interesting play through. To preface this review, I only played this game in single player mode so I did not get to experience the "true experience of this game" This game is meant to be played with 2 other friends in a local coop fashion, for example playing in the living room together. This is a very puzzle heavy game and if you are playing it in multi player, will take time, organization, and communication. A lot of the puzzles are not hard by any stretch of the imagination, however you might get stuck at a puzzle or two. With enough determination, you will get through these puzzles. Along with the regular puzzles, the boss fights are pretty interesting and will require some team work as well.
This game is not hard by any stretch of the imagination. That being said, some of the bosses can come off as very "cheatie" if you are playing single player. Most of the stages and bosses are doable however there are two that i really struggled with. There wasn't a boss that I was ever unable to beat however some did give me a little more challenge than the others.
On the positive, this game controls wonderfully. The touch screen is very well implemented and easy to understand. All the characters are very responsive as you would expect any Zelda game to be. I won't say that I had an awful time playing and it wasn't a drag to get through, but this definitely isn't a game I will be revisiting soon.

I bare minimum finished Triforce Heroes because I hated it so much. I hated it for the reasons gamers hate Four Swords Adventure. At least Four Swords Adventure shows each level as a progression through the map. Triforce Heroes just gives you a list of levels. On the same note, Triforice Heroes feels like it's trying hard to be Mario in its layout (like Zelda II). It has 8 Areas/Worlds, each with has 4 levels. And since Triforce Heroes loves base 4 apparently, each level has 4 stages. The game's case tries to convince you it's 32 dungeons, but you know that's far from the truth. At least Four Swords Adventure in single player had formations in which you could control all 4 Links at once. Triforce Heroes, in single player, forces you to operate 1 Link at time. Sure, you can totem them, but it slows you down, makes you an easy target for enemies, and it's a pain when platforming. Miss a platform and fall into the abyss, you'll be losing 3 hearts instead of 1. The constant switching between Links adds an unnecessary level of difficulty to the game. It's like the game punishes you for having no friends to play alongside. As the for the gameplay mechanic, all I have to say is, "Fashion, really?!" It makes the game less canonical than Majora's Mask! This could easily be my least favorite game in the Legend of Zelda series, but I'm willing to admit that my dislike of the game comes from attempting to playing solo a game meant to be played multiplayer.Updated 6 Years Ago

Generally a slog. When one mistake costs the entire group dearly, it's easy to create frustration after frustration as mistakes beget mistakes. It's generally a very different experience than Four Swords/Adventures. Lots of focus on puzzle solving as a team while you're being bombarded by enemies. If you're going to play this, you're going to want to play with two friends. If not, prepare to wallow in despair as you and the random(s) fail to communicate and screw up basic tasks with dire consequences for doing so.Updated 7.5 Years Ago

Great gameplay in small snippets. Definitely strayed from the massive epic that is a Zelda game for something between the substance of a cell phone game and a portable Zelda game. The slang and plot were amusing but not engaging. I did not feel rewarded by its plot moreso I felt rewarded that I conquered this beast. The gameplay is fantastic for any typical Zelda game but this one is definitely bottom tier only above possibly the CD-i games.Updated 8 Years Ago

Tri Force Heroes is yet more excellent proof Nintendo is focusing its efforts on NX software; or at least I hope. Behind the Zelda name, which was clearly attached simply as a selling point, there is a very dull and repetitive game. There are some fun ideas, yes - but it ultimately just feels like a time waster that was slapped together quickly to try and make a buck while padding out a uneventful holiday release schedule. Now I confess, I solely played the game's single player when it is clearly meant to be a multiplayer experience. The game proved to be infuriating at times when craziness was happening on screen and you had to focus controlling three different Links to accomplish one goal; something that would be far easier with the help from two companions. The fashion aspect feels out of place in the Zelda universe, much like the Lokomos from Spirit Tracks. While it might be tolerable or even fun with friends, I breathed a sigh of relief when I completed this game so I could put it down and move on.

It's a pretty good Legend of Zelda multiplayer game. I finished Four Swords: Anniversary edition before I played Tri Force Heroes, so I was able to tell the differences between their single player modes. The only differences were that the other Link could be transported to you and even help you complete a few puzzles. It's a bit annoying that you have to move the other Links in Tri Force Heroes single player mode, but it isn't a huge hassle although it is real difficult to do certain levels in single player. Aside from that, the multiplayer mode is great. There's a blacklist that you can use to place people who lag or those that are intentionally unhelpful on it, so that you will not be connected to them at all. There is no voice chat which is quite necessary for multiplayer games, but there are about enough hero panels to help communicate. Overall, it is a pretty good multiplayer Legend of Zelda game that is great with friends, but you can do fine with randoms which was what I did.Updated 8.5 Years Ago

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes is more than just a fun co-op diversion from the large-scale solo adventures this series is known for. The challenging, intricate puzzles are great chaotic fun in local multiplayer or for a one-time run through in single-player. Limited communication tools make it difficult to play with adventurers online, but everywhere else it’s a success.Editor's Note: A former IGN employee, Audrey Drake, worked on the localization of this game.
