Just to preface, this is a review of the flat-mode version of this game. Originally, I played this on vr, and while I may mention here and there my experience playing this in vr, I will mainly be looking at this game in terms of the flatmode version. With that being said, I didn't particularly like this game. Is it the worst in the series? Of course not. But, is this a genuinely good horror or even fnaf game? Not at all.One of my biggest gripes with this game is the story. At first glance, this game has pretty much no story. Your a beta tester for a new fnaf vr game, and thats about it. If you want any chance of seeing the plot for as it is, your going to have to find the secret tapes. Why they would hide the actual story of the game behind secrets, I don't know. The fnaf storyline isnt really as complex as people like to think. Sure, theres well hidden secrets, but you didnt have to hunt down secrets to know the basic story of the game. Each fnaf game has a pretty good story, and raises questions that can be solved by digging deeper in the lore. This game just hides the story for no reason.
And the story that is here is just stupid. Ghosts inside animatronics is stupid enough, but this ruins the whole entire purpose of not only fnaf 6, but also ucn! William coming back, thru a "piece of his spirit" inside of a fucking game is just stupid. Granted, I can't see any other way of continuing this series, short of just having a copy cat killer commit the same crimes in a new location, but I still wish they wouldve done it differently. They easily couldve set this game earlier in the timeline, rather than later. This game and the dlc honestly just feels like an excuse so they can make fnaf sb, and while those 2 things do set it up well, im not happy in the direction it went.
The gameplay in this game is lackluster as well, to say the least. This game is broken down into 7 different categories of minigames, and while they were obviously were designed for vr, and may be fun in vr, I can't say they hold up very well otherwise. The first three categories are just the first 3 games. Fnaf 1 especially is great in vr, and while it is a lot easier in vr, its still a lot scarier. The animatronics look at you while they move around, and they are really tall, especially in vr. Unfortunently however, things just get worse and worse as it goes on, culminating in the fnaf 3 portion, which somehow is worse than the actual game. The next category is "dark rooms" which is just stupid mini games where you just sit somewhere in a pitch black room. This section included the hardest minigame, which was the baby plush one, which I could not complete and just decided to skip.
I decided to skip a lot of the mini games actually, especially in the dlc, where I probably skipped like 4 of the mini games, which is like half of the dlc. I could go thru the rest of the mini games, but theyre all bad and boring. None of them give you any reason to play them, because theyre all either stupid, easy or both.
Overall, as a vr experiance, id say this is worth a try, just to see how imposing and scary these fnaf games actually are, but as an actual entry into the fnaf series, id say skip this one. Honestly as long as you understand that william is back, and possessing some girl in a bunny costume, your fine.

As much as the jumpscares can get old, the tension never does. The atmosphere of FNAF is so unique, and it's only heightened by the expansion from simple images to full 3D models moving around. Seeing the actual movement just makes the whole idea come to life in your mind even more. However, just as usual with FNAF games, the gameplay can be so obnoxious. The blend of the usual tedium with vr can straight up not work at times. I remember distinctly that the repair minigames would be extremely finicky with PsVr and I would game over from just random shit. The fnaf 4 sections would also be ABYSMAL, as my hands just wouldn't close the doors most the time. And don't even get me started on how much this game just doesn't tell you how shit works or isn't consistent. I had to look up too much stuff...
Overall, it was fun, and is definitely worth a time, with a lot of good and varied content.

There's a lot to like here with Five Nights at Freddy's VR. I wasn't the biggest fan of the games on PC, but in VR it adds so much more to the games that you couldn't get on Steam.Updated 5 Years Ago
