Hey, everybody! I was recently reorganizing my games, and was reminded just how many copies of Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario World I own. This got me thinking, what games do you own more than one copy of? Is there a reason you own it more than once? I feel like I own a bunch multiple versions of a bunch of games, like Beat Saber, Journey, The Unfinished Swan, Super Metroid, etc. Thanks, everybody, I hope you have a great day!

I have Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess on Gamecube, Wii and the remaster on Wii U. Bastion and Transistor on PC and Switch. Tales of Symphonia GCN and PC. Tales of the Abyss on PS2 and 3DS. Ace Attorney trilogy on 3DS and the Remastered trilogy on Switch. Mega Max X through the legacy collection, but also Mega Man X on its own through virtual console on 3DS. Trails of Cold Steel 1&2 on PS3 and PC, Cold Steel III on PS4 and PC. Okami on Wii and PC. There may be others I'm not thinking of but those anyway for various reasons. There are also games in the household doubled up with what I own too...

Persona 3, 4 and 5.
Persona 3 I've got Persona 3 FES on PS2, P3P on PSP and downloadable on PS3.
Persona 4 I've got Persona 4 on PS2, Persona 4: The Golden on Vita and Persona 4: The Golden on PC.
Persona 5 I've got Persona 5 on PS4 and Persona 5 Royal on PS4 digital.

I also own a lot of games on 360 and PS3 which later came out on PC, like Bayonetta, which I've got on 360, Wii U and PC.
And then remasters which I own the original for, like The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker, Bioshock or The Last Remnant which I've got on 360, PC and Remastered on PS4.

All the Final Fantasy games I own a physical copy on PS1 (Minus FF3 of course) and digitally on PC, PS3 and on PS4 depending on whats actually available.

I think I actually have too many to name, so I'll leave it there.

Well, off the top of my head, I have seven copies of Bayonetta (PS3 physical x2, Wii U physical x2, Wii U digital, Switch physical, PS4 physical) and four copies of Bayonetta 2 (Wii U physical x2, Wii U digital, Switch physical).

There are plenty of other redundancies in my collection, I'm sure, but these are the most on-brand for me.

Lego Dimensions: I was into this game when it came out but the Wii U version fuckin sucks so I bought it on Xbox One to.

Mortal Kombat: Snes version sucks Genesis all the way

Skylanders Spyro's Adventure: I bought the Wii version when it came out and I was curious how a 3ds version would work

Techincally I own TF2 twice because of the Orange Box but if we're not counting collections then that's it

I try not to buy games twice, the only ones I think I own twice are Stardew Valley (PC and Switch) as well as Don't Starve (also PC and Switch). Purely because they're both open-ended games that make nice additions on a portable console.

A lot of the times I don’t buy games twice, but I’ve done it three times and I’m about to do for a fourth.

My first was the PlayStation 2 version of Sonic Unleashed (Which I’ve completed) and when I found out you could free-roam in the PlayStation 3 version I got that one too🤷🏻‍♀️

Hollow Knight which I have on Steam and Switch. The reason is because it’s easier to control on Switch than on PC (because of the keyboard)

The Lego Harry Potter Collection on Wii and Switch is another

And I’m planning on getting Skyrim for my Switch while I also have it on my PlayStation 3

The Switch is just easier to turn on and it’s also portable, so I can see why people play it more than their consoles.

If later reworks count:
- Persona 5 (Standard & Royal)
- Odin Sphere (Standard & Leifthrasir)
- Persona 4 (PS2 and I'll get Golden from Steam eventually. Couldn't play it before since I don't have a Vita but now that it's on PC it's accessible.)

Other than that:
- Ace Attorney Trilogy (Switch digital & 3DS digital) For convenience.
- Unravel (Switch & PS4) Got the Switch version on sale and a combo pack later went on sale for PS for around the same price.
*- Apollo Justice (DS & 3DS digital)
*- Dual Destinies (3DS digital)
*- Spirit of Justice (3DS digital)

*Had to be repurchased due to a mishap regarding a 3DS I was sharing at the time and one I later got for my own. Realized that I wouldn't be able to take it with me on my SD card and it still slightly stings.

Off the top of my head...

I own Bastion and Transistor both on Switch and PC, because they wouldn't work on my PC. I got Valkyria Chronicles Remastered on Switch for the same reason, Valkyria Chronicles not working on PC (or rather playing at 5-10 FPS). I own Okami on my PS2 but my PS2 is all but totally broken now, so I got Okami HD on the Switch. I think that's everything.

Hollow Knight which I have on Steam and Switch. The reason is because it’s easier to control on Switch than on PC (because of the keyboard)

I don't usually buy games on multiple platforms because there are too many new games I want to play instead of returning to already beaten ones. But recently I felt like replaying Hollow Knight and I wanted to see how different it would be on PC/with keyboard than on PS4/with controller. I actually enjoyed it even more with keyboard and it felt a bit more natural to me as well.

Last week I was tempted to repeat this with Celeste which was on sale for 5 Euros on Steam - and is a phenomenal game that I've beaten on PS4 - but I refrained in order to play new titles from my backlog.

I don't know, probably this is a subjective thing, but I'm starting to think the keyboard could be the better input device for some genres than the controller. I'm new to gaming on PC so I can't give it a final (personal) "verdict" though. P.S: my disdain for using the mouse continues. ;)

Bundles are the main source of duplicate games, but I just gift them to people. So I don't keep duplicates of those.

Though I do have duplicates of certain games, mostly stuff that I owned on console that I re-bought for PC or older physical games that I re-bought digital to avoid the icky old installers/DRM.

Some examples:

Lost Planet 2: Bought on xbox360, rebought on PC to have mouse aiming

GTA4 Stories: Same as Lost Planet 2

Brothers in Arms Earned in Blood and Road to Hill 30: Bought Earned in Blood on PS2, later the Earned in Blood + Road to Hill double pack (physical) on PC and finally rebought both as part of the complete Brothers in Arms series to get BiA Hell's Highway in digital form for PC.

Patrician 3: I've bought this game 5 times. One of my all time favorites so I don't regret it. My original CD copy died of over use, so I bough another physical copy. I later bought the game digitally and later on it was included in bundles I bought twice (those two copies were gifted to friends)

Prince of Persia Warrior Within: Physical copy + digital as part of the complete Sands of Time trilogy.

TES Oblivion: Bought the x360 version, but that one has no mods. So I got the PC version later.

Too many to count tbh. Alot of games I purchase either end being given away free or free in multiple locations (i.e. free on GoG and unreal) and then I have PS+ so more games come through that way as well

That can happen sometimes. A game can feel better or easier on PC than on console, but it can also be the other way around too. I have a lot of 2D and retro-style games on my PC because it’s not a very powerful computer. Which is why my Switch is my go-to for those type of games that are ported from Steam to the Switch. Unless it’s a bad port then I’ll just wait till I get a better PC that can run better.

Nightfire 007 is one of the my favorite games ever, I own the GameCube version (which is the most recognizable), the GBA version (which is a kinda laughable 3D FPS... yes on Game Boy Advance), and then the PC version which was made on the Half-Life engine, and is perhaps the most mediocre game of all time.

Still, have a lot of memories of that game and just enjoy the experience on multiple different mediums.
