Nice but except from a technical point of view, it doesn't bring a lot to the (very congested) Street Fighter table.

Let’s get down to it. I purchased this game as a part of the Street Fighter 30th anniversary collection with no prior knowledge of how to play traditional fighting games or why people liked them. My partner told me to check out this one first, and so I did. Did it win me over? I’d say so.

+ Infinitely replayable gameplay that is understandable but incredibly complex. It can take you years to master this game.
+ A great selection of unique characters that bring a great amount of variety with them
+ Graphics that still hold up today
+ Fantastic multiplayer
- Some characters that are noticeably unbalanced or annoying to deal with
- A difficulty level that can be a bit overwhelming for new players (even the lowest difficulty can be pretty tough)
- Incredibly forgettable music

The core gameplay is so strong and well thought out that the lack of actual modes doesn’t matter, since the base modes are so replayable and enjoyable. After playing this game on difficulty 3 as Ryu, I really do have an urge to hone my skills and get better at this game, which is something that a game like this absolutely needs the player to feel. After beating the main story mode once, I immediately wanted to do it again with different characters or on a harder difficulty. And with the respectable amount of options in those regards, I don’t see myself getting old of this game anytime soon.

My personal favorite street fighter and for good reason. Super colorful, bright, fluid animation and great music. This is an all around great game for casual and competitive players to enjoy thanks to all the ISM styles. X-ism allows for high damage single moves at the cost of certain abilites, A-ism is the standard fighting style that allows for medium damage and V-ism that provides the lowest damage but allows you to create custom combos. This game also has tons of characters with tons of variety.

Flaw: The only real gripe I have with this game is that V-ism is broken. With proper practice, infinite combos are possible because of V-ism and if you watch competitive SFA3 you'll notice most players use V-ism. Daigo himself said (in his youtube vid about SFA3) that if SFA3 didn't have V-ism it'd be one of the best street fighter games of all time.

All in all this game has a really nice balance. It doesn't pander to casual or hardcore making it a great for wanting to get into fighting games or just playing something new. Heavily recommend.

Great graphics, sound, gameplay, but brutal difficulty, way harder than the first two entries in the Alpha series.

this game was fun to play using fei long aka bruce lee but the bots are still so un-forgivingly hard at around stage 6 or 7. Even when i set the difficulty settings to like 2 out of 10 it makes no difference. they just do some nonsense and read all my moves. Definitely dated in that regard when I just want to play the arcade all the way through and experience all the art design for the different maps. This is why it's hard for me to get into a lot of fighting games because you have to dedicate so much time to get just good enough at it.

great roster, good mechanics, and a final boss that is cheap yes but not overly so. Probably my favorite street fighter so far. the saturn port of this bangs. Idk if this is a hot take but I think i prefer this over SF3 as a casual player since I like the roster and vibes a lil better here than there.

The greatest version even compared to Dreamcast with the inclusion of 4P Dynamic Battle mode thanks to 4MB ram cartridge. Timeless classic.

The dramatic mode in this game is so awesome.
Playing as Ryu and Ken vs strong enemies is my definition of passing time with my bros.

I beat the GBA version. The GBA port is impressive overall. The only negatives are watered down music and occasional input detection issues.

I played this so much about a month ago I got blisters. This game is blissful in every way.

I particularly love the World Tour mode simply because it seems like such a logical way to extent and deepen a fighting game. Also, beating the later characters is harder than you think. You've got to be, eh-hem, bad-ass to finish off this game.

The extra characters are way cool. Fei Long is Bruce Lee, and I just watched Enter the Dragon again the other night, so I wanted to play a character like the long-gone martial arts star, and Fei Long is as close as I will get. His hilarious quivering hits and high-pitched screams are classic.

The only thing about the character list is that I will never play all those characters. I mean, who cares about stupid Sodom? (Sorry to those of you who play him. I just have one question... Why?)

Oh, and PocketStation support is in the game, it's just hidden. Capcom will release the information as soon as Sony is ready to launch its campaign here in the US. Hopefully, that's soon!

Street Fighter Alpha 3 is a quintessential, must-have fighting game.
