Some may find Brotherhood to be a repetition of it's predecessor. However, the formula the game follows is still great.

Good

- Banking system and earning money systems are well implemented

- The Assassin's modern day hideout and interactions have improved greatly from ACII.

- Ezio can recruit citizens into the Assassin's guild and they will come to Ezio's aid.
Cool implementaion.

- The story is engaging. Ties between modern day and the past are brilliantly written.

- Characters are very interesting. Especially the ones from ACII.

- Combat has improved slightly, but with some glitches.

- Multi-player

- The four modern day assassin's have more interesting character compared to ACII.

Bad

- The lack of measurement shown for the player between Ezio and the destination on the mini-map makes it difficult to decide whether to take a horse or run. The cities are enormous and sometimes it is better to take a horse.

- There are a lot more stealth and undercover missions. Which can be quite punishing if you are the impatient type.

- There are glitches in some parts. Inability to move, short freezes.

Playthrough was split as i played 6 sequences first and had to take a break for a few months before resuming and completing the game later.

Story in this game built off the fantastic AC2 and didnt skip a beat in that regard. I LOVED the Antagonists and the companions throughout this game and really building the Brotherhood.

The addition of the "Brotherhood Assassin's" was peak imo, i loved recruiting someone then raising them all the way to a full assassin then utilizing them in battle or chases.

There were much more frustrations in this game compared to AC2 with movement and Ezio just not doing the exact thing i tell him too, making me repeat parkour sections multiple times because of it.

Combat was the same as AC2 - No Change

Overall: 7.8/10 - not quite as good as AC1 but very close behind it.

Builds on the success of AC2 a lot, however it's largely limited to one map. This is both good and bad- I think the area is broad enough to not get stale, and they added some neat mechanics, but ultimately I would have liked to venture further out of Rome.

They are very repetitive quests, not the most interesting story either. I enjoyed the climbing, zip lines, and combat, excellent as always when playing AC. I am giving it 5/10 because I had a hard time gathering the courage even to start the game often :(

You're back in Renaissance Italy as master assassin Ezio Auditore in the second game of the Ezio Trilogy. This time you're in Rome, the Eternal City, and can train up some brothers to help you in your quests against the Templars.

Rome provides a much bigger backdrop than the previous games, and you'll enjoy seeing and exploring some of the landmark ancient buildings, which are reproduced very effectively in the game. You can even spend some of your hard-earned cash to return them to their former glory.

Playing Assassin's Creed Brotherhood was a rollercoaster of emotions for me. From the moment I started, I was entirely hooked by the fun and intriguing gameplay. The world of Renaissance-era Rome is beautifully crafted, and the storyline truly sucks you in. I was deeply invested in Ezio's journey, uncovering secrets and tackling challenges that kept me in my seat.

However, my experience was frustrating. The game is plagued with bugs and performance issues that seriously detract from the overall enjoyment. There were several times when I couldn't complete missions due to glitches, which was incredibly annoying. The frequent stutters and other performance hiccups often broke my immersion and made parts of the game feel less polished.

Despite these issues, I still had a great time with Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. The story and gameplay are strong enough to keep you engaged, even if the technical problems can be a significant drawback.

While the bugs and performance issues were a let-down, the captivating story and enjoyable gameplay made it worth playing for me.

You cant just go wrong with Ezio. Probably the best story and gameplay wise in the whole trilogy but for me it'll never top ACII just for the pure amazement I got from seeing Ezio for the first time. Still one of the best games overall ever made, it's a must play for every new AC fan or for anyone that wants to get into the series. Go play ACII first though, you dont wanna get caught up in the middle of things without knowing anything do you?

Fucking fantastic. It remains a classic. I think the art for this game is hilarious, because you see all these characters around Ezio with the word "Brotherhood" and assume they are his friends. They are the multiplayer characters (Multiplayer no longer available), and you only see them in the game once each when you kill them on one-off missions. This game has one of my favorite villains in the series, Cesare Borgia, who is basically adult Geoffrey Baratheon and he starts shitting his pants roughly 45 minutes before you actually fight him. He becomes entertainingly pathetic as the game goes on. You also get to hang out with Copernicus. The Christina missions are a mixed bag in my opinion, showing some story around Ezio's lost love. I like them overall, but they paint young Ezio in kind of a weird macho light imo. The side missions about Da Vinci's inventions are fantastic, however. Lastly, I'm happy to say that the PC ports have largely held up outside of the first AC game. I'm having so much fun going back through these.

Story: 70/100 - Brotherhood picks up directly where AC2 ended. Warning: Spoilers for the beginning of the game ahead!
After Ezio returns home from the Vatican, Monteriggioni is attacked shortly after by the Borgia's army. Most of Monteriggioni is destroyed, including the Villa Auditore alongside most of Ezio's gear. Not only that, but while defending and evacuating the town at the same time, the gate to to the Town is breached and Cesare Borgia holds Uncle Mario at gunpoint. Unable to make it in time, Ezio has to watch his Uncle die. He slowly retreats and is able to escape with his mother and sister. He sends his mother and sister back to his birth town Florence, while making his way to Rome. Ezio passes out on horseback due to his injuries. When he wakes up, he finds himself in the care of a roman woman, who took care him. She tells him, that a man brought him to her and asked to take care of him. That man also told the woman to tell Ezio that he is supposed to meet Machiavelli, an old friend.

Relatively spoiler free TL;DR of above: Ezio decides to clean up his mess and go to Rome to find and kill Rodrigo Borgia, after the it became clear to Ezio that sparing him was a mistake, since Bogia's forces attacked Monteriggioni right after Ezio's return.

Overall, the story is not bad. Not as good as AC2 in that regard though.

Gameplay: 80/100 - The core gameplay mechanics of Brotherhood are mostly the same as in AC2. The parkouring feels a little more refined and fluid, but not too different from AC2. The combat feels a little dumbed down however. Ezio can now chain execute enemies after a successful counterattack, turning him into an absolute killing machine. While this is very cool and satisfying to do, it also makes combat a little too easy in my opinion.

There are some nice new additions as well, such as the Crossbow, Assassin Recruits and Full Sync Objectives for example. The Full Sync Objectives make you approach missions in a different manner then you would usually do, which can be fun. However these objectives sometimes clash with the mission design, making some missions very tedious to get 100% sync at. Assassin Recruits are unlocked in the story and can be used to assassinate targets, or make more money by sending them on contracts. They level up through contracts to be more efficient at them and earning you even more money. As soon as you recruit six assassins, you also unlock the powerful Arrow Storm ability, allowing you to kill multiple enemies silently at once.

Also, I have to say that only having 1 City in contrast to AC2's 3 Cities (not counting Monteriggioni) just was a little disappointing.

Visuals: 85/100 - The game looks substantially better than AC2. It still has some minor flickering issues with textures, but not nearly as bad as AC2. The only real eyesore in Brotherhood, is the draw distance for things such as foliage. Pop-in seemingly only 20m in front of you really is jarring.

Performance: 90/100 - Good. The game has to be locked to 60fps, otherwise some things that are tied to the framerate will break. Not just visually, but some missions can't be completed when playing at more than 60fps. Core affinity also has to applied just like in the previous game to reduce stuttering, and it thankfully also stutters a lot less too.

Audio: 75/100 - The Audio is good, however a lot of it has been recycled from AC2. NPC's often repeat lines that you have already heard a hundred times in AC2. Some of the actual OST has been recycled as well, and the new additions just don't hit as hard as the tracks from AC2.

Bugs: 65/100 - I've only ran into some minor bugs, except for one game breaking bug near the end which required me to restart the whole mission I was doing.

Overall: 75/100

Length:
10-15h - Story Only
20-25h - Story + Some Sides
30-40h - 100%

TL;DR: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is basically a big expansion of AC2, doing some things better than it's predecessor, but unfortunately also quite a number of things worse. If you just want more of AC2, you will probably still have a lot of fun with it though.

What a difference a year makes. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood was released almost exactly a year after Assassin's Creed II, but manages to improve on nearly all flaws of its predecessor. It makes one think whether some of the ideas were already considered for Assassin's Creed II, but the developers bought themselves some more time this way. Whatever the case, Brotherhood is a far better game than its predecessor.

The reason why I said "nearly all flaws" is because some of them are still there. While the platforming controls feel slightly better than in Assassin's Creed II, they are still quite bad. Since just about every button press is contextual, the difference between a successful jump and a plummet is usually a split second, and I will never understand why so many button presses are necessary for different walking speeds. Also, within the more contained platforming challenges, the camera still sometimes shifts to a fixed perspective, though notably less so when you're trying to run somewhere at full speed.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood also simply looks better than its predecessor. That should not make much of a difference gameplay-wise, although I would say it is much easier to get a feel for the layout of a city than in Assassin's Creed II. What definitely helps is that Brotherhood takes place in just one city and its direct surroundings, which is a massive improvement as well. Fast travel is available, but I never felt the need to use it, because everything is at walking distance and you might come across some other interesting things along the way.

I also think Brotherhood manages to weave its side objectives into the regular gameplay much better than Assassin's Creed II. Anything you do just feels like part of a larger whole, even the smallest side missions. I never really had that being a delivery boy for Assassin's Creed II NPC's, but it just works. Also, slowly buying over parts of Rome felt oddly satisfying, much more so than the Monterrigione villa equivalent in the previous game.

Another interesting mechanic is how the Assassin organization has become a gameplay mechanic. While liberating parts of the city - another very interesting side objective - you can rescue citizens and have them join you as an Assassin. This comes with a set of light RPG elements as they fulfil contracts, kind of like the most violent game of fantasy football of all time. Also, the more recruits you get, the more they can actually help you with your assassination targets in the game. While it's a fairly simple mechanic, it's executed very well and gives the game some depth.

The modern day bits are a little bit more involved this time as well. While it's good that they don't feel as tacked on, I am of the opinion that every Assassin's Creed game would be better off without the modern day stuff. Its weird science-fiction tone clashes with the fairly decent writing of the historic bits, which in my opinion have enough strength to work on their own. The puzzles that come with finding the glyphs are the only true downgrade from Assassin's Creed II, but maybe that's because I'm just getting tired of the Da Vinci Code-ish bullcrap.

Brotherhood is also the Assassin's Creed game that introduces optional objectives in order to get 100 percent synchronization. While I'm not enough of a completionist myself to care - collecting all the Borgia flags is the one thing I could not be bothered to do, for instance - some of the optional objectives are simply unreasonable. The tight time limits could be an issue for some, but when you need to stay undetected and it doesn't count if you kill the one person who sees you 0.1 seconds after he spots you could drive someone up the wall.

While storytelling will always be of secondary importance to me when it comes to playing games, I actually found myself caring somewhat about Ezio and those close to him. While the whole thing is essentially a revenge story, the motives are generally clear and Ezio has a certain depth to him that he didn't have for most of the previous game. Cesare is a cartoonishly evil main vilain though. And it feels like the writers didn't really know what to do with Lucrezia Borgia. There are moments when she is on the cusp of becoming one of the most interesting characters in the story, only to have the idea abandoned a couple seconds later.

Apart from that though, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is a really good game with some excellent level design and some surprisingly fine writing as well. Better stealth mechanics would have improved the overall experience, but this is an excellent game for what it is.

Such a disappointment after AC2. An unpolished step-down.

Pros:
* The opening sequence is well-designed and directed. And a cool trip back to Monteriggioni.
* The first Vatican mission is beautiful too.
* Daylight in Rome looks amazing. All the colors are bright like on old Italian landscape paintings. Sightseeing Rome with this light is mesmerising.
* You can ride a horse in the city (though you will almost never use this feature).
* The assassination at the orgy is great.
* Eltsin and Putin are featured in 16's puzzles.
* The climbing-based Romulus lairs are great. (Others not so much).
* You can finally collect all the flags w/o hating the game!

Cons:
* In 4K the game looks ugly (I played the game on Xbox Series X as a part of Ezio collection). The draw distance is awful. People look like you're playing GTA3 and the textures get more detailed when it's too close and too late. The stupid behavior of NPCs doesn't help (like women drop their umbrellas in a distance just because they couldn't load correctly). Feels like Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4.
* Also, music is huge step down. It's either a direct copy from AC2 or annoying new chorals.
* The story is much worse than in AC2. And also it gets lost in endless side-missions. Also, the missions are not coherent. They all are generic. Some are buggy. Some are fine. None are great. If I need to play one more 'follow' mission I will kill myself.
* Cesare looks like an anime character.
* The achievements are not fair again. Replaying the missions again and again to get 100%? Nooooooooo.
* Desmond climbing levels feel like a cheap version of Uncharted.
* Even 16's puzzles got worse :(
* Both the last memory segment and the ending are meh.

After finishing Assassin's Creed 2 a year ago, I finally found the time to continue the series with Brotherhood.

As before you play Desmond Miles, and through the Animus – a machine that allows you to tap into your virtual reality past through the memories stored in your DNA, continue the adventures of Ezio in in early 16th century Rome – the time of the Italian wars.

Unlike Assassin’s Creed 2, the location scope has been reduced to mostly one city – Rome. The developers went through a painstaking process to create a real bustling city, with its famous monuments and locations. The graphics still look good 13 years on, and as before, you can parkour across the roofs, climb towers and structures or take shelter among the crowd.

a staple characteristic of the series at this point - the game has a huge amount of side content that you can complete at your leisure: assassinations, Thief and Courtesan guilds missions, shop quests, destroying Leonardo war machines, finding the Romulus Treasures and more. Other things to do include collecting outfits, weapons, and pictures – all displayed in your villa, increasing your reputation and the city's income and value.

Controls of the game are reasonable, but far from perfect. Many times, you will find yourself locking to a nearby element of the environment or jumping the wrong way. Still, the number of fighting combos seems to have been reduced and melee has changed emphasis from counterattack (that was very popular in Assassin's Creed 2) to aggression. It still feels like fights are lots of button-mashing.

A new element that defines the game is your ability to recruit assassins and send them on missions which gives them experience and extra money for your purse. Those assassins form the “brotherhood” and can be called during fights to assist you. At high levels, they are over-powerful and make many missions trivial.

Over the years, Assassin's Creed has received complaints about bloat – there is so much to do that you lose focus of the main quest. I never saw it that way – you can enjoy the side missions as long as you want to or ignore them if you just want a narrative-based experience. As such, I enjoyed this more narrowly focused game, but not as much as I did Assassin’s Creed 2.

The game finishes on another cliffhanger. Maybe not as impressive as the previous instalment, but certainly enough for me to want to play Assassin's Creed: Revelations sometime soon.

Gameplay
A jogabilidade do game continua praticamente a mesma.

Trailing the success of AC2, this continues the story of Ezio. Expect more of the same, but without the variety of environments that AC2 offered. Still an excellent game.

AC Brotherhood was very good, but not as amazing as it's predecessor, AC 2.

The gameplay was essentially identical to AC 2, which was kind of disappointing. There were a lot of improvements, but there were only a couple new features (namely the crossbow [which was a welcome addition], the ability to recruit and summon assassins, and the INCREDIBLY fun Leonardo's War Machines). Rome was lovely to explore, but it was too similar to AC 2's landscape/vibe to feel like a separate game, as it wasn't fresh enough. Just my opinion.

The story/characters were, however, very refreshing. Machiavelli and Leonardo were my favorites, of course, but seeing Claudia mature alongside Ezio was also quite lovely. Wasn't really a fan of Cristina's story, as I'm never a fan of courting when in wedlock, but that was really the only story bit that bothered me. Looking forward to playing Revelations to continue Ezio's story!

Overall, I'd say a 7.5/10, would recommend.

TL;DR: Expect an Assassins Creed II... 2 lol. Good, just not fresh.

87/100. Great game, good story. Few VSYNC bugs that made 100% sync impossible.

Great game. It had a hard act to follow as ACII is still one of the greatest games of all time but it managed to keep me interested. I think this is where the Ubisoft™ gameplay style began, I 100 percented it but I wouldn't recommend everyone do it. Just play the main campaign and the side-quests/objectives that are interesting.
