SUPERHOT has one of the strongest game design concept I've seen in the past few years. They just have to make the game, now. I'm barely kidding. Calling SUPERHOT a draft would be a little disrespectful, but it often feels like the skeleton of the great game it could have been - too short, not as inventive as it wants to be, with a boring and unteresting meta-speech. Heard that the game really gains 'momentum' in VR. I can see where and how. Since the singlest move matters, SUPERHOT VR can make a lot more sense. But on a basic screen, it's a random indie game trying to look cooler than it really is.Updated 1.5 Days Ago

Superhot was really fun! I love the unique menu aesthetic and UI. The whole thing gives me a lot of Polybius vibes and I think that's awesome. Fun little game too. Right amount of difficulty, and respects your time well.I'll also give it credit for being a game that introduces a new mechanic late and actually gives you a reasonable amount of time to use it. A lot of games introduce new mechanics way too late and then by the end of it, you've barely used it. Not the case here with Hotswitching, for the game gives you a reasonable amount of levels to test it, as well as an Endless mode.
The Endless mode existing really enhances my score, because otherwise I'd have to give the game some flak for being too short. It is genuinely a fun game and I'm glad there's a way to continue playing it further.
Superhot is definitely one of the better Indies I've played, but I can't rate it too high since it's more of a smaller experience with not much to it. I'd maybe give it more credit if it actually did something cool with its UI and Polybius aesthetic. Like give me multiple endings. Let me do some DDLC type of stuff with the menus. I know that's the creator's vision of the game, but I felt like Superhot has such a solid foundation when it comes to both gameplay and vibes that I felt like it could've done a little more with it. But otherwise, great game!

Classic Dystopia + Cyberpunk Setting + Incredible First Person Puzzle Gameplay makes this one of the best examples of Games as Art I've come across. It's one of the most immersive FPS Games I've ever played and for a game that only takes a short while to complete it leaves a huge impact on the player. From the simplistic graphics, flashy visual effects, sound design and must play narrative, there's nothing really quite like it. This was before Doom 2016, DUSK and the Boomer Shooters and this was WAY after Modern Military and Sci Fi FPS games started to lose impact. It's placed in this weird middle zone that seemingly only could be made during that specific period. This could have just been another style over substance FPS Game that is flooding and destroying the credibility of the genre, but instead it pushes original ideas and AR narrative elements into the player's lap while showcasing bits of interactivity with the keyboard in the so called cutscenes of the game. You have to play this on PC to get the full picture, playing this on a console will not do.Superhot relies on precision, puzzle solving, accuracy, creativity and patience in order to be enjoyed properly. It's not a guns blazing shooter and you die in one hit, but it's certainly not what I would call a hardcore shooter. Anyone who has had experience with FPS Games can play it but it certainly will take the twitch based fans of the genre a while to get used to. Moving fast will get you killed so you have this Tortoise and the Hare situation where you have to end up making slight movements and gestures to really get the upper hand. I will admit the game does become a bit easy when the body switching element comes into place but it's never to the point where you could just spam and abuse it as the game has a cooldown on it. The length of the game is also perfect. If it were another 4-5 Hour long FPS it would have lost it's charm VERY easily, but the game doesn't overstay it's welcome. All the levels aren't too long and the story and AR narrative elements make this truly engaging. FPS games aside from anything Modern with a HIGH budget and thousands of staff usually have terrible, ABYSMAL stories slapped on just for the sake of it, leading to careless or even worse cringey overall pointlessness that feels like it's insulting the player's intelligence.
What I loved about this game is that it never treats it's audience as dumb. So many FPS Games after this look down on it's audience and see them as stupid or braindead and trust me, I've FELT that in a lot of cases especially with MANY Boomer Shooters and even the likes of Doom Eternal, but the game is mature and doesn't mess around. It respects the player's time, it respect's the player's intelligence and it never feels like I was ever being talked down to or insulted. This is a SMART FPS game, something of which we NEVER get. The game just felt so refreshing and despite coming out almost a decade ago it still is a must play. The Polish New Wave song blasting into my headphones at the end sold me completely on it. It felt so nice to play something in this genre that isn't just watered down Quake or Doom or Watered Down COD. So for that it's an easy recommendation.

EDIT:Second run through took about 2 hours, definitly a game to be played with KBM. I just got good and only really struggled with the final battle due to overwhelming number of opponents. Katana only mode looks fun and frustrating.Playing with KBM or controller are both terrible. At higher levels, the enemies begin to move faster and have better weapons. You will die but most deaths are not due to me being reckless but because I haven't figured out the spawn points of enemies for that level. I am not a fan of being punished because I don't have the knowledge of weapon placement or enemies for a level, punishing recklessness I understand but this game doesn't do that. There is a 5 second delay between each death before restarting the level which is incredibly annoying, it should be instantaneous.

Great little game. Both the gameplay and story are really unique with the former being super satisfying.
They also added some cool modes to play afterwards if you want more of the sweet gameplay however I didn’t spend much time with these.
Games like these don’t come around often and it’s definitely still worth picking up nowadays.

SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!SUPERHOT kind of fails to understand what makes matrix-esque games fun is that the world moves and YOU get to slow down time and affect everything else. When the world stands still and moves as normal when you do, everything is backward and it just doesn't feel near as cool as the game would try and make you believe. The story is somewhat interesting, but with the game's main draw being the gameplay, SUPERHOT fails to be much more than a gimmick as every level starts to blend graphically and mechanically.
idk just play like Katana Zero or something

A pretty cool concept and gameplay. Time moves only when you do. Love the art style, storytelling and well-hidden Easter eggs related to the terminal interface of computers. However, replayability is limited, especially when hunting the platinum, you need to do the same campaign for a dozen of times, each with only a little twist in the gameplay settings. Also, there are places to exploit in the unlimited mode, greatly hindering the purpose of it.Updated 5 Months Ago

The most innovative shooter I’ve played in years. A great game, actually. I would say it's a puzzle, not a shooter. But I'm not in control, obviously. On the bright side: The mechanic of attaching time to movement is cool. Special kudos for recreating icon movie sets (I recognised like three scenes from The Matrix). Also, piOS design and sounds are great. And this unexpected Polish song in the credits was also cool.
On the dark side: The setting was cool, but the story itself was too predictable for me. Like one more The Matrix's ideas reuse. And the difficulty sometimes spiked for me to unplayable levels. But I managed to get through.

I would have rated this higher if I didn't play the VR game first. The VR game made this base concept even better. So I have to compare them. And at its core, this is an amazing action puzzler with fun core concepts. There is a lot of challenges and things to do. Great game, no doubt. Just a simple point that cannot be overstated - playing this in VR is one of the most fun matrix like experiences you can have.Updated 10.5 Months Ago

[review in progress..
