Hey everyone! I'm a fairly new member and decided it's time to start connecting with the community. First thing first, I want to thank this amazing website for giving me a place where I can keep track of my entire collection while also giving me a safe zone to express my opinions. I tend to keep to myself when it comes to online interactions due to how hostile a lot of places can be, but hopefully with this blog it'll help me break through my shell a bit more. Secondly, I'm not the greatest when it comes to reviewing games, sure I'll throw my opinion here and there but for the most part this blog will be more of me sharing my experiences with the community. So as a heads up, if you're looking for some deep, constructive criticism then this blog is most likely not for you.
I've been journaling my life for 3 years now while recently started a new journal exclusive anything gaming related since September of last year. However, I'm not the most artistically talented so a lot of the time my entries tend to look a bit on the more... bland side... Thankfully, with the power of the internet, I can express myself artistically in a digital format. So as an example, here's something that'll you see a lot in the upcoming entries once I've collected in game screenshots.

Anyways, this all a learning experience so we'll see how it all goes in the upcoming entries. Wish me luck y'all!

-Okami 3.17h/3.17h, PS4
June 11 2020, Thursday-
As an avid 3D Zelda fan, it was a long time coming for me to finally get around to playing this. So far I'm enjoying the game, although I will say that it's a bit too chatty and hand holding at times, but once you get past the introduction segment and reach the point where the world opens up, that's when the game truly starts shining. The map is just BEGGING to be explored and as a canine it was only fitting to sniff around every inch of the world that I was allowed to explore. However, there's a minor setback, nothing too major to even hinder the experience but a personal pet peeve of mine. The camera initially felt odd to me as it's almost inversely, at least to what I'm used to. I tried messing around with the settings but to my knowledge it didn't change much, if any... Worst part is that to even reach the option menu, you have to exit out the game entirely. Just an example that this is still a game of its time and naturally minor inconveniences are bound to arise. Regardless, once I quickly adjusted, I started realize just how breath taking the game truly is, even for PS2 game. Maybe it's my bias love for Japan culture but the ink brush art style really brings the game to life. Best way to describe it, is as if it's a moving painting that you can interact with. I can't wait to jump right back in and see what else the game has in store for me!

Oh, interesting what you're planning there with the links to different parts of your blog. Very clever!

Thank you! I initially wanted to make the image itself clickable but couldn't figure out how, if it's possible to begin with that is.

I seriously love Okami. It's one of my all time favorites. If you really like this one you may want to try the sequel, Okamiden, one day. I'm actually playing it myself right now and it feels like I went right back into the game.
It's always interesting to see the different styles new game bloggers come up with. You took some creativity with yours!
Edit: I also appreciate the table of contents. Unsung heroes, they are.

Well, I lack in constructive criticism so I make up with what I can in creativity.
Honestly, the only thing I truly regret is that I didn't play the game sooner. The soundtrack alone is reason enough to try out the game. 'Rising Sun' being a personal favorite of mine ever since I first heard it back in Marvel vs Capcom 3 and I CAN'T wait to finally see in context.

Since I added an index on my first post I was also planning on adding a button at the end of every entry with a "back to main post". If I could give you a suggestion, at least from my perpective, I'd recommend smaller buttons at the end of your post for these links. ;)

This is so far one of the best blog layouts I've seen on the site! I am incredibly jealous of this and I wish mine was just as professional as yours. Like, Damn. You have talent!
Welcome to the Backlog Blog Team. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how this blog ends up! This is a really sweet and professional style you're doing.

OH MY GOD!! You're such a life savor. Thank you!
I took your advice and toned down the "buttons" as I didn't realized just how big they were, especially for mobile users. Took a quick look myself and they ended up taking the entire screen... Also added a small hint of drop shadow to make them POP a bit more :D

Oh shucks, you're making me blush.
If we're being honest here, I just sorta took inspiration from the community and put my own spin on things. I especially love your style of blogging, you can definitely feel the passion behind every post, how you're able to write paragraphs after paragraphs on just a single game. I personally tend to freeze up A LOT whenever its time to write. Artistically, however, I just do what comes naturally as a graphic designer <3

-Monster Hunter World 7.31h/334.20h, PS4
June 13 2020, Saturday-
"Kite", a good friend of mine, came over to visit for the weekend and as tradition we decided to put two of my TVs side-by-side to play the game "locally". We used to play this game pretty religiously when it first came out, but we've since started to slow down and moved on with other games. If there's one thing you should know about me is that I don't usually stick around with a game for too long. I do as much content the game has to offer until I beat it and simply dip out soon after. I rarely go back to 100% anything after finishing it because I tend to either burn out super easily, or just want to move on to the next title on the list. This is the reason why I can't get invested with MMOs due to their nature of being never ending. However, there are special few cases that keep me coming back. Those being; Animal Crossing New Horizons, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Breath of the Wild, and of course, Monster Hunter World. Although I've only put in 330+ hours, which are baby numbers in comparison to some players, that doesn't change the fact that this is by far the most time I've put in ANY video game. I originally stopped playing around the 200 hour mark back in base MHW, but once the Iceborne expansion dropped, I easily put another 100ish hours. Even with all that time, the game still manages to surprise me. I spent the vast majority of my time using the Charge Blade and recently went out of my way to try out other weapons. It's crazy just how much the game changes by switching to another weapon, at times even feeling like I was playing a whole different game. Specifically, the light/heavy bowgun that allowed me to rapidly dish out damage from a distance, which in contrast to using a sword and getting up and personal, felt so weird to me. Best way to describe it, is as if you're playing Dark Souls one moment and then in the next you somehow end up playing Gears of Wars. It's things like these that keep me coming back and wanting to experience every single thing the game has to offer.
So for anyone who hasn't played the game and are on the fence on trying it. To you I say, play it. It's honestly one of my favorite games I've experienced in recent years, and so many great memories were made with not just my good buddy kite, but playing with randoms. If it wasn't for the massive backlog of games I got going on, I could easily invest hours upon hours just trying to master every weapon alone. Also, it's extremely noob friendly for anyone who hasn't experience a Monster Hunter game, that's not even including the massive quality of life changes that were implanted... I will say that the online has been butchered to hell with this one...

And yes, we decided to change our avatar's gender to female after Iceborne dropped. In case anyone was wondering.

First of all, great job with the entry! It looks amazing.
While I was playing through MHW I felt something was wrong, however I couldn't say what. I completed the main quest and, the day after I completed it, my boyfriend decided to watch me play a bit; I was doing a Kulu-Ya-Ku hunt if I'm not mistaken. In the middle of the hunt the monster started running back to it's nest and he asked me if I didn't feel bad for hunting that guy since it wasn't a threat anymore, and this is when I realized that this was my problem with the game. You see, the Kulu was never a threat; it was there, living it's life, and a bunch of explorers simply decided to set up a base in a new world and hunt them down to make weapons and clothes. Although most people tell me "it's just a game", the feeling of going after a creature that's trying to survive destroyed the experience for me. I wouldn't have a problem if I had to protect a village/city from a monster attacking it (like the Zorah boss), but the whole context made me feel really guilty.
I also understand that my opinion is a minority and I wouldn't mind if people just tell me that I'm wrong or something. The game had a fantastic combat, environment and you even have a cat companion... I mean, it has everything I'd look for in a game normally.

I hear this sort of thing with many players as well, specifically the one's who started World as their first Monster Hunter. They made the monsters way more tamed in this version, to the point that you can just chill with them as long as you want. Hell, we even took a sweet picture with one of the most aggressive looking monsters in the game. However, for someone like me who has started with previous titles, this doesn't really cross my mind all that often due to how aggressive they were in past games, even getting double teamed by many of the beasts a lot of the time. But it's like you said, just a bunch of hunters setting up camp for the sake of gathering material, and to some extent that is true. I personally always saw it as them trying to keep the food chain in order, not allowing any specific beasts to overpopulate any of the others. That's why when something like the Deviljho appears and starts devouring everything in its path, it starts challenging the balance of nature that the hunters worked so hard to keep.
but yeah... it's mostly just slaughtering the poor things for the sake of materials... but hey, at the very least they make for some sweet looking armor pieces.
