For 1992 this game is really great. Its a little dated by modern standards and could probably be described as simple in terms of gameplay. What made this remake such a joyous time was the memorable music and beautiful pixel art. It truly aged beautifully. The pacing was good but I found the end a little drawn out. Overall I thought the games length was suitable and it didn't go too far in overstaying its welcome. I finished the game feeling like I wanted to start playing Lunar 2. Which to me, is a great feeling to have when you finish a game and want to start playing its sequel. I did start to feel a little tired with the gameplay in Lunar by the end. I will be taking a break from the series for now, but will no doubt start the sequel at some point soon in the future.

Story feels like very classic JRPG adventures like Dragon Quest. The occasional voice acting and anime cutscenes are also really cool and invoke 90s anime nostalgia in me. It just brings me back to watching Tenchi Muyo on VHS.

Often the game feels like a late SNES game, but small things like the voice acting and special effects in certain dungeons reminds me I’m in the PS1 generation. It may just be a filter or an effect overlay, but the dungeons like Crystal Tower dungeon looked great.

The whole party actually might be the strongest group of characters in a JRPG I’ve seen since Chrono Trigger. They’re just so fun and adequately developed despite rapid firing jokes throughout the game.

Though often slow, I really enjoyed the combat even though once you lock into a winning strategy, you basically stick with it until the end of the game.

I played the game almost entirely guideless but it wasn’t too tough. There was a bunch of grinding early on and in the last dungeon, but that’s it. I was surprised to learn that the PS1 localized version was supposed to be harder. I did have to look up a guide when I got stuck on a puzzle or two though.

Absolutely beautiful game with one of the best stories in a video game. Gameplay is simple but enjoyable. It suffers from an inverse difficulty curve. Really hard starting out, but once you get a 5 member party, it gets significantly easier. The end was pretty challenging though. I absolutely love the anime cutscenes in it. Instantly one of my favorite RPGs ever.

Well, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete was quite the entertaining adventure to say the least. Things I enjoyed most include its story (I found it really predictable but I also have a lot of experience in gaming so I've seen it all at this point). The Writing was great as well. Its soundtrack was superb and very enjoyable to listen to. The spell/skill animations were very cool, and its combat system was well designed. I was especially impressed with its AI Auto Battle System which actually had your characters heal themselves and use skills strategically. Overall, it's a great JRPG and I highly recommend it if you've never played it before. I give the game 4 out of 5.

Lunar silver star story complete is the best remake ever! Blows away the original in every possible aspect, from graphics to story.

+ one of the best 2d graphics ever, everything is crisp and detailed with great anime sequence

+ new soundtrack is great, the only song boat blow me away

+one of the best cast of characters ever

+ a great story reworked, a great improvment over the original

+ no random battle

+ the battle are pretty difficult ( specially the boss battle)

+ voice acting is good

+ new extras

+ great package

- the gamplay is on the simple side

- again a little sidequests

now, my classification of the first lunar versions.

lunar silver star story complete (ps) 10/10 masterpiece !

lunar silver star harmony (psp) 8/10 downgraded version of the playstation masterpiece

lunar the silver star (sega cd) 7/10 good.. but very obsolete, overshadowed by silver star story

lunar legend (gba) 0/10 pure garbage

A good starting entry to the series. If you're into old school rpgs from the 16 bit generation, its worthy of your time.
