Pros: Really holds up to the hype. It's good video game. It's good Batman. It's silly but takes itself seriously, which is Batman to me. The gadgets are really fun and the characters are mostly well done. Kinda short, which I didn't mind. The Scarecrow sections are simple, but really neat. The game has pretty great level variety.

Cons: Ivy's design sucks. The boss fights (ironically except Ivy) are extremely repetitive. They are basically all just redos of Bane's boss fight, and it both makes the boss fights boring, and makes Bane too lame.

Overall, it's a pretty easy recommend. I enjoyed myself and will play the others.

What an amazing game, don't even have to explain why this game is incredible. The music, the level design, the environments, and combat, the gadgets, the characters, the voice acting, everything is top notch, and something that has aged gracefully.
Except for the boss battles, these fights put a slight blemish on an otherwise fantastic game.

This is a fantastic game.

Everything from the visuals to the audio to the dialogue are all excellent. The performances of the two leads are fantastic, the story and ambiance are very good, and perhaps most notably, the combat system is a lot of fun.

This game is right up there with the original Gears of War and Resident Evil 4 as one of the most innovative games of the 2000s. It introduces so many clever gameplay mechanics, the combat has depth to it (later emulated in the excellent Sleeping Dogs), and it's just a fun game. The use of gadgets is also pretty fun, although there are so many of them, and some I never used.

You can see just how much effort went into every aspect of Arkham Asylum, with the art design and even with all the character bios and audio tapes. It's just a really impressive game. And the Riddler secrets are actually fun enough that I went through and collected all 240 of them.

I also appreciate the game's length. You can probably power through the story in 12 hours, but it's realistically a 15-20 hour game for most people, which is a good length for this. It doesn't overstay its welcome.

The one major criticism I have is the level design. It looks beautiful (especially for a 14 year old game), but some of the levels are mazes that can be a real pain to traverse, especially after you've finished the story and are going back for the Riddler secrets. Finding all the sealed doors and remembering all the alternate paths to get around the Caves and the Medical Facility can be a real annoyance.

Also, while I enjoy the Detective Mode mechanic, sometimes I felt the game wanted you to use it too much, which caused a FOMO because it masks the game's excellent visuals and art design.

All in all, this game is a classic. I'm giving it a 90%, but I would have given it a 95% if it had not been for the maze-like level design.

This game is just the absolute best superhero game on the market. Some People will tell you its overrated I am here to tell you they are very wrong! This game is everything a superhero game should be without this game and its sequels we wouldn't have gotten games like spider man or for that matter games that use the same open world formula. Its such a solid foundation for an open world game and there so many positives and nothing negative really comes to mind. I am sure there might be a couple things to some people but for me it really is perfect. This game deserves the praise it gets and than some its story is incredible game play is fluid and very entertaining nothing gets tedious even with the riddler challenges. I get that theirs a lot of them but once you really start playing you'll find you have most of them done bye the time the story is over. After that its just clean up plus theirs even a map for each section so its really not bad at all. this game is a gem and deserves its Guinness world records please if you haven't played this for yourself. whether your a batman fan or not this game really is awesome!

Arkham Asylum really balances Batman as a character who is an overwhelmingly dominant fighter, a stealthy hunter, and a crime scene detective. The island on which the asylum is located is varied enough that one won't get too bored with the metroidvania aspects, but the skill tree also lets you prioritize your preferred playstyle. I personally enjoy the stealth mechanics the most, so I put skill points into that part of the tree.
The only part where Asylum falls short, in my eyes and seemingly many others, is the final boss. The bosses were a great part of this game, but the final one is a letdown that betrays the character.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is a fantastic superhero action game set on the infamous prison island containing some of the most messed-up villains to ever trouble the good citizens of Gotham. Of course, Batman's arch-enemy, Joker, is incarcerated here, and the story revolves around progressing through the prison, dealing with his henchmen and other super-villains such has Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Killer Croc.

The environments you move through are extremely well done, from the open spaces on the island between the prison buildings to the depths of the prison itself, which are dark, spooky and in some cases downright terrifying! The Grapnel Gun allows freedom of movement to get to places where you can observe and plan your next encounter using your "detective vision".

You gain a formidable arsenal of toys to deal with you enemies, and they're all fun to play with. The combat system allows you to chain together combos as you deal with groups of enemies. It can be frustrating at times, but you soon get the hang of it. The boss encounters will probably also take you several attempts as you learn the timing of their attacks, either countering with an attack of your own, or just getting out of the way!

Beyond the combat there are many collectables scattered across the game, including Joker Teeth, Riddler Trophies and interview tapes with some of Arkham's inmates. Finding these gives you experience points that can be used to unlock weapon upgrades.

A versão que joguei é a de PC (Steam) e testei a versão de PS3 e posso dizer com propriedade, joguem esse jogo no PC, a versão de PS3 achei muito inferior.

Gráficos: 8,0 - Os gráficos são excelentes para a época, porém muito bonito até hoje;
Jogabilidade: 9,0 - A jogabilidade é intuitiva, os combates ótimos;
História: 9,0 - A história é excelente e flui de forma agradavel, nada rushado;
Desempenho: 8,0 - O jogo roda muito bem em qualquer pc atual, mesmo em um com gráficos integrado.
Nota Geral: 8,5 - O jogo é excelente, graficos lindos, ótimo enredo e gameplay redondinha.

A true classic of the late 2000s. I originally started playing AA back in 2014/2015 and only made it maybe halfway through. Does a pretty good job of really making you feel like Batman, especially for 2009. A semi-open world beat-em-up with RPG and metroidvania mechanics is kind of a great combination of genres for the Caped Crusader.

Batman: Arkham Asylum was a pretty good game in all honesty. From the story and gameplay, it truly felt immersive. I’ve never played any Arkham game ever, so this was my first time playing one of these games.

The story just seems like another Batman story, but with a twist. I thought the whole titan aspect was pretty interesting, and Joker taking control of Arkham Asylum was interesting as well. The enemy variety was pretty cool as well. The Scarecrow sections were probably my favorite sections of the game.

Gameplay wise, I thought it was very good, but it did have its clunks and flaws as well. You really do feel like Batman when you are playing this game. I did have a few gripes, though. I did not like how when you knock out an enemy, you had to preform another move to knock them out. That got really repetitive really quick, and it doesn’t work well whenever you are facing a large group of enemies. I did like the stealth in this game, though. Stealth missions are something that I enjoy in any game when done right, and this game does it right. The titan enemies were a pretty tough challenge which took me a while to figure, but when I got the hang of it, I thought they were a pretty tough challenge. The bosses were a mixed bag for me. There are some that I truly enjoyed and others just felt like utter BS.

Overall, I did have a good time playing this game, and it's one that I would totally recommend. Batman: Arkham Asylum gets an 8/10 from me.

It's a good game considering how long it has been since it's been released. The combat is a bit frustrating at times because you can break your combo when an enemy is not close to you very easily. The boss fights were meh, especially the last boss fight with Titan Joker, not very good compared to Origins. The story is alright, it's not too interesting and it's not that boring as well. 8.5/10 imo.

I had tried to get into the arkham games for a long period of time after being someone that almost exclusively plays spiderman games when offered a superhero game. This game is good. But the combat for me is not good enough to make up for the immense feeling of lack of traversal. This is kind of an unfair comparison but when I am playing a superhero game. I would rather roam in spiderman 2 than any other superhero game I have ever played. but then spiderman 2 has similar combat so I just get the best of both worlds only missing the banger of a story from this game. The things I am saying are true for arkham city as well. sorry for the flaming take just liked the game but its not 10/10
