Real definition of a great, relatively short, 'tunnel' single player game with great mechanics and interestic story. Love how remake upgrades some technical parts of the game without odd feeling that some of them wont fit into the original game. Top notch sound design - need to play this in good headphones!

It's great. The new additions are really solid without feeling too new, and the Ishimura is terrifying with the updated graphics. Really the only issue I had was all the stuttering, but other than that, it's certainly the definitive way to play Dead Space. And a bunch of the weapons got much needed buffs, so they're actually worth using.

I really wanted to like this game. Its graphics are excellent and it starts so well, but it became a bit of a slog.

The story becomes overly complex and expects you to read long text logs to understand. I really couldn’t care about the enemy. The gameplay felt like a lot of backtracking and a general loss of direction. Rather than feel like I was progressing forward, it felt like I was just running errands a lot across the ship. Whilst the enemies look great, targeting their limbs instead of a well placed head shot is not satisfying. Unlike Doom you don’t have enough ammo to just obliterate them either.

Overall, it’s not the thrill of Resident Evil, not as petrifying as Alien Isolation, not the blast and bash of Doom but instead falls somewhere in the middle….. and not better in any way.

Dead Space is definitely one of the best survival horror experiences you could find. The ambience and sound design reinforce this to the extreme. It also has a deep and engaging narrative. It's certainly one of the best in its genre. I highly recommend it.

The highlight of this game is certainly the enemies, the look of the creatures is chilling and the sound of them moving through the walls is terrifying. One annoying detail is the gameplay, which isn't as smooth as it should be, affecting the experience a little, but it's not impossible to play, you just need to get used to it.

Overall, I can say that the game offers a great experience, with balanced combat and memorable moments with a great character

Isaac Clarke, you're badass!

Bastante bien conseguido.

Although I've never played the original, this was genuinely such a cool and frightening game with a fun story and a wild twist come the end! Gameplay is very fluid and easy to navigate. If you ever get lost, there are always ways for the game to help direct you, and there is so much to explore and so many things to backtrack and explore. The exploration of this game is wild. From Side Quests, to backtracks for places that may have been previously locked, but aren't any more, the experience and the rewards left behind are well worth the journey and are a lot of fun. Don't recall most of the trophies, but for as enjoyable as the game was, beating it wasn't awfully challenging.

Dead Space 10/10:
- Pretty much the same as the first one but more open
- Allows you to explore the story however you want, by collecting logs and other things
- A remaster that is actually allowed to be called a remaster, with reskins and updated graphics
- Jumpscars still get you from time to time
- The only downside is that you need to download it on an SSD

A solid horror shooter game.

Pros:
Surprised by how scary the game was. The horror was done extremely well and they did a good job tricking you as to when to expect monsters and when not to and always did a good job of having you on your toes.
Liked the design and lighting and presentation
The upgrade system and weapons were good
The boss fights were quite good

Cons:
The gameplay was quite repetitive. Thing breaks, go fix it, over and over.
The enemies got kinda repetitive as well.
The ammo system was really bad and I ended up not using the cool guns so I could get the correct ammo. Once I did this the game got like 100x easier.
The story is wonky with mindfuckery and made it hard to feel a connection to any characters.

The story was okay. You are a crew that was sent to space station USG Ishimura to investigate a distress call. Upon arrival, you encounter creatures who previously were crew members. Your goal is to uncover the truth and escape the space station alive.

The game is scary in the beginning, but over time the mobs and the events become repeatable and the game's frightening elements disappear. I played the game over multiple short sessions and it started to feel like going through a to-do list to complete the game. The space station can be confusing to navigate without the waypoint mechanic and when you encounter a save station, you feel obligated to manually save the game otherwise you risk losing progress in the game, which destroys the immersion.

On a positive note, I like how each weapon felt to use and was unique, this gave each weapon its advantage in various scenarios. I played on normal difficulty and the game was well-optimized. The player is not showered in ammunition or infinite health packs that make the player invincible. This forces you to use the different weapons the game has to offer.

In conclusion, Dead Space is an okay game. It's not the best game in the world, but it has its strengths and weaknesses. If you prefer a game with a combination of action and horror elements without a strong story, this game might be for you.

Dead Space 2023 is a remake that stays true to its original. I played through this game twice, I usually only play through games once so that should tell you something. Back to the game.

In Dead Space 2023 you will feel the struggle of survival. Everything seems a bit surreal and twisted, you arrive after everything has gone bad, you still live in denial and are naive (this makes sense due to the story). What really stands out in this game or universe is the sense of dread and hopelessness. It captures these elements perfectly. The graphics are not only complimentary but also essential for the ambience and atmosphere of the game, it elevates the whole experience to another level.

The array of guns, weapons and upgrades you are exposed to are presented in an almost flawless organic way. Another huge bonus that really helps the atmosphere of the game is that there are no health bar covering your screen, it is instead intelligently displayed by your gear/amor. A tube on your back either glows green, yellow or red indicating the health of your character. For its time (the original) this was revolutionary and I hope more games in the future takes inspiration from this.

Now why only a score of 85 if I give this game such high praise? Well the game unfortunately gets a bit monotone and stale. I can’t blame the environment or tight corridors because that all makes sense. But the tasks or chores you are doing feels a bit mundane and repetitive. Since this game has so many interesting weapons that heavily impacts how you kill the varying enemies, that helps tremendously with the flow, but still something felt a bit anti climatic.

Maybe it’s not fair because I played through the game twice, but an 85 is still very good. The story is next level especially if you get into the lore of the other games. Personally I can’t wait for the second installment to get a remake as well, that will be a pre order from me. It’s only a matter of time before they make it because they can reuse so many of the same assets, basically half of the next game is already complete by making this game. And if that game is just as enjoyable if not more I will up the score of this game to a 90/95 because that will do the franchise a favor. If you haven’t played the game yet and enjoy horror I highly recommend it, for both next gen consoles and PC.

Excellent game! I don't play Horror games much, but Dead Space is atmospheric in all the right ways I love my brand of Horror. I've always preferred book Horror as opposed to video game or movie Horror since much of the media relies on jumpscares over atmosphere, which in my opinion, feels cheap and uncreative.

I saw many say that it relies on Jumpscares too much and while it did get me a few times, I think that's a gross overexaggeration. Once you get used to the audio cues the Necromorphs have, it becomes undeniable when something is about to jump at you, which makes the game easily manageable for someone like me with anxiety. I'll admit the story isn't stellar and didn't interest me THAT much, but it's still fantastic as a horror experience.
I'm looking forward to a remake of Dead Space 2 (hopefully).

Dead Space 2023 serves as an incredible example of what a modern remake of a game should strive to be. While mostly maintaining the same feel and gameplay of the original, there is still an incredible amount of changes made for the better of the series while respecting the original vision and expanding upon it greatly. At the same time it doesn't feel like a game that invalidates the original while instead standing as it's own game with strong points and weak points that the other versions cover for each other. As for the pros versus cons of this game compared to the original:

Pros

* The graphics and performance of the game are incredible. So much detail is put into crafting the environment and using it to subtly tell stories of what happened to unfortunate members of the crew without the game explicitly needing to tell you. Enemies are grotesque monsters that you know slowly peel away at their flesh, muscle, and bone in incredibly gruesome detail to take their limbs off.

* The overall sound design matches the original incredibly and a lot of love was put into creating a haunting atmosphere through senses other than sight. Tracks make you feel on edge, guttural screams and cries will leave you momentarily paused as you seek the source, and the ambiance of the Ishimura never disappoints.

* The Ishimura itself being one large interconnected level instead of segmented like the original is an amazing change that keeps immersion as high as humanly possible.

* New mechanics like the Circuit Boards add a new more interesting level of gameplay with choices on how you proceed through areas such as disabling the lights or cutting off oxygen and dealing with the challenges both offer for a problem. Other mechanics like anti-gravity have been modernized leaving it feeling far less tedious to take part in those activities.

* The same also applies to several other gameplay sections like operating the ADS canons and certain sections where you need to escort objects with the use of your kinesis now being replaced with much more modern solutions to the slower clunkier pacing of the gameplay from the late 2000's.

* Skill trees have also been refined where every node unlocks an improvement instead of needing to invest in blank space.

* New Sidequests and the introduction of security clearance give reason to go back and investigate the Ishimura to discover new interesting changes to the story and world.

* Isaac being voiced now adds a whole new layer to his character as he displays his technical know how, pride in the work of those trying to survive, and absolute disgust or exhaustion deepening on his HP when delivering the lines.

* For the most part, all of the weapons feel usable in this game with their own distinct advantages and disadvantages instead of all being practically useless before the almighty Plasma Cutter (which is still pretty strong).

Cons

* The voice performance from the supporting characters and delivery of their lines is a little weak compared to the original however leaving a bit to be desired from everyone but Isaac.

* Certain character arcs have changed for the better in the story, but there are a handful of them that just feel like a downgrade from the original.

* While the scare factor is still incredibly strong in the remake, some of the more environmentally oriented scares have been dropped with some cheaper jump scares in their place that take away from the horror aspect a bit imo.

* There's weirdly no proper "Impossible" difficulty as it's been replaced by a permadeath mode similar to Dead Space 3. Unfortunately even on this mode you're only playing on hard difficulty and it still isn't anywhere near as difficult as the permadeath modes of 2 and 3.

*The over abundant use of darkness as a way to create horror and tension can take away from the game at times, making it impossible to appreciate the work put into the map, let alone actually seeing if something is closer than a foot in front of you.

Overall I found this game to be an amazing remake of a game that I personally hold in very high regard and hope that we can get a remake of Dead Space 2 that can match the quality of this remake. Maybe even net ourselves a good version of Dead Space 3 if we're lucky enough.

The graphics are amazing and the Atmosphere is insane (in a good way). The story is much more noticeable now then in the Original and even adds some new details that adds to the story and Isaac speaking now also really adds to the story. I am also really happy that it runs smoothly on PC with no bugs or glitches that I found and the stomping is so satisfying. Whether your new or a returning player (like myself), your gonna love it. 10/10 Literally a Masterpiece!
