Very few games that enter the peaks that Halo 3. A great campaign with fantastic set pieces that go up against the best, Forge in the creation of levels and multiplayer at the time with the numerous game modes made this game culturally significant to gaming at the time. The accolades and titles it earned are well deserved and the memories it gave me will last a life time.Updated 1 Month Ago

Both Reach & Halo 3 made up a lot of my childhood. I sunk HOURS into the multiplayer modes with my little brother over the years & I have the fondest memories of 3 more than any other, so did the nostalgia hold up over 10 years later? YUP. This is still my fave in the series. The story never stops which can be exhausting in other games, but I finished the campaign in a little over 4 hours (shocked myself on that one tbh) & it’s consistently engaging with obviously massive stakes that I can finally appreciate as an adult. Somehow they improved everything even more since Halo 2. The linearity might be an issue for some but i appreciate Bungie making these games less open over the years. The short story might be an issue, I would’ve loved to play hours more of it but if it can cause such a good reaction in me in a short amount of time, I’m glad I experienced it. I would’ve loved to see this entry get as much love the other remasters got (despite it still looking great for a game from 2007, wow I’m old) so maybe someday we’ll get a remake of this one too.Updated 1.5 Months Ago

Halo 3 is an incredible ending to an epic trilogy. It mixes everything good from Halo 1 and 2 giving the player the best Halo experience. The levels don't feel repetitive and the addition of The Arbiter(and his crew) fighting along side humans makes the story bigger. The story doesn't drag and it's paced better than Halo 1. Overall, the narrative being told in Halo 3 is fantastic.
Both Covenant and Human guns feel right. Covenant guns feel like they actually do damage compared to Halo 1 and 2, but they still don't have variety compared to human guns. Mechanics wise, everything feels good and improved.
Music and visual are good. Nothing special for both or too memorable, but it gets the job done.
9/10 Halo 3 is the perfect ending to the trilogy.

Halo 3 is a masterclass FPS. It continues and caps off Master Chief's trilogy by Bungie with an engaging shooter the whole way through without any hiccups whatsoever. It does much of what Reach excels at, but also does so while continuing Master Chief's story well. I'd say Reach is better overall, but 3 is very close.Score: 92

Halo 3 is not just one of the best shooters but also one of the best games of all time, this game has everything that could possibly be in a singleplayer or multiplayer experience with a level of replayability very few games have. The game does have it's faults but literally every game does (and if think there is a game that doesn't, you're wrong, you think you're smart but you're actually a stupid peepee head) and I think a vast majority of Halo 3's problems don't detract from the overall experience. Some may say that the story feels underwhelming but I don't think so, the first few levels are slower but they are reestablishing how strong the Covenant are after they got wrecked at the end of 2, some may say that the deaths don't feel climactic but without spoiling them not really, they all make sense in context if you think about them. I'm not going to defend Cortana (the level) but it's not as bad as it's made out to be but the campaign is best one Halo likely ever will see with it feeling like a fantastic conclusion to a trilogy with so many fantastic set-pieces and memorable moments, with fantastic character writing and performances (except Truth). The multiplayer is also amazing with it having so many different modes, some might say some guns are bad but that's kind of necessary in a sandbox and the Battle Rifle is too prominent but it's a weapon that gets better with the play and other weapons just do other things better so it's not busted. The mutliplayer is a very refined Halo 2 with new modes like Big Team Battle and making community made modes have actual playlists, each map feels unique and fun to play on. Forge mode and unlockables were also fantastic features to introduce to the franchise and now with MCC forge is better and there is even new customization and maps, which you can turn off if you want although the new maps while looking weird, play great. The game's also a fantastic coop experience (every Halo is) with the game having so much content in it where all of it is open to multiplayer, custom games are also a great time and they're now easier than ever to join because the custom games browser which has a lot of wacky game modes which provide a different experience than what you'll find in any form of matchmaking.Updated 5 Months Ago

Barring Metroid Prime shenanigans, this has my vote as the greatest FPS ever made. The story and visuals are a little rough around the edges, but being slightly worse than 2:A in those aspects and unequivocally better at everything else makes for a pretty good game, shockingly enough.Updated 5 Months Ago

A beautiful, incredible finale to an amazing trilogy. This is Halo firing on all cylinders, and while I think 2 gives it a run for its money, the moment-to-moment gameplay and big story moments really make this the best Halo game for me, so far.Updated 7 Months Ago

Meh, this one felt weak for (I played the Master Chief Collection version of it). It's the most fascistic and melodramatic of them all yet. I didn't enjoy it quite as much as CE or Reach. This game just rehashes everything from 1 & 2 and puts them in a bigger package. But I was more bored than entertained.Pros: + The epilogue in zero gravity is kinda cool (and almost touching).
+ Some of the space cutscenes look epic (though, the low resolution reduces the illusion a bit).
Cons:
- Enemies and allies AI is weak. Allies in cars where dropped me 100+ from the cliffs. Enemies freeze from time to time.
- The story is confusing. Like it's cool that we change locations so quickly, but I wasn't clear what's happening and what's my role in it most of the game. Also, the dated engine doesn't allow to take the melodrama of the story seriously.
- The level navigation and encounter design are weak too. Like 10+ times I was confused on what I should do and where I should go.

Ok wow where to start, Halo is the only shooter on here. I love Halo but I came to the Halo train late. I remember all my friends playing it and finally, I was able to get the Master Chief collection and I blew through all of the games. Halo 3 would probably be my favorite of all the games, the final “original” chapter of Master Chief, with the music, teaming up with the arbiter, all leading up to one final mission. This series is the only reason I will ever get the new Xbox.Updated 9 Months Ago

What a stellar conclusion to the trilogy. It might be shorter but it's all killer, no filler. It ends up well all arcs, it's emotional, it has superb action levels, great visuals for the time, all the Halo hype from those two first but occasionally flawed games came to this, the essential title, the perfect conclusion, even if it's a bit more simple and straight-forward, it does the job greatly.Updated 10.5 Months Ago

It is an honor to see the world through the eyes of Master Chief. The game is enjoyable even though this is my fourth Halo game in 100 days. While playing the game, there was a minor glitch twice on two different days, the desktop screen suddenly appears while the game sound is audible but in Taskbar or Task manager there is no Halo to get back to so Steam needs to be restarted, game starts from the last Checkpoint so this only wasted about 5 minutes.Updated 11 Months Ago

Honestly just after finishing Halo 2 anniversary starting this was a big mistake as the drop in visual quality is quite evident especially from the opening cutscene still once u get hooked into the story everything else becomes irrelevant.I really enjoyed the story as it felt like a step up in the right direction also with that badass ending.Master chief & Cortana still have their chemistry & shooting felt great.
Wished they could've given this also the anniversary treatment

Checkpoints still suck at times, you will still get lost at times but the game feels a lot smoother than 2, perhaps due to a lot of motion blur which wasn't present in the first two games. It has it's annoying moments where you're suddenly thrown against way too many enemies without cover, but overall it's not bad.
Save for the Cortana moments of course, those should've been done in a better way.
