There's some good ideas and it's possible that a side scrolling super meat boy could've worked in a smaller scale. But wow did they screw it up. Beat it in one sitting and it was the longest 3 hours. Repetitive, frustrating, and bosses that required memorization rather than skill. The Animation was cute and even enjoyed baby nugget. All in all very disappointing.

The fact that the levels are randomly generated alone is bad and let alone it's an auto runner, this is basically hell for platformer enjoyersUpdated 5.5 Months Ago

SMBF is significantly more difficult than SMB, but the difficulty is achieved in ways that are not entirely fair. The lack of ability to control the character's movement often leads to one single correct way of passing the "element". You'll just keep chiseling 20 times until you finally get it right. So what? It would seem that this is exactly how the first SMB was played, except that Forever has one small detail - random generation. There is simply no difficulty curve in this game. You can spend a good 200 tries on the first level of an episode, and the rest of the episodes can be completed in 20 tries. This random generation often slips you elements with a very conditional passability, when you need to perform a series of super precise jumps in the fierce timings. Yes, the game is about difficulty, but the first part was polished in terms of leveldesign, and here you don't understand how to pass an element at all. But that doesn't apply to the bosses, they're hand made and they're great. At first you are absolutely terrified and don't understand how to defeat them, but with persistence and patience each of them is left behind. In summary, Super Meat Boy Forever certainly can not compete with the first part, but still is a worthy successor. It has good graphics, music and video inserts, but the gameplay and level design is questionable (though still exciting)Updated 7.5 Months Ago

Not nearly as good as the first. A lot of mechanics go unexplained so you have to figure them out yourself. In such a fast paced game this halts progress and is very frustrating. Boss fights are almost unfair entirely. Best part of the game is the animated cutscenes.Updated 1.5 Years Ago
