Masterpiece. When you take the presentation of the best looking 16-bit platformer and crank it up to 100% with additional movement, weapons, level designs, stage routes, innovative sub-boss & final boss battles, levels filled with personality, fluid animation, attention to detail, suburb audio sound effects/music, animated intro and ending cut scenes, complete with a captivating story filled with plot twists you have Treasure's 2D magnum opus Silhouette Mirage which debuted on Sega Saturn. Compared to the North American localized PlayStation port that adjusted the shop prices which not only artificially increased the games difficulty but made it more tedious to obtain enough coins in order to try new weapons throughout- the original is far superior in offering a more entertaining and optimizing experience- the way it was intended to be.Updated 3 Months Ago

Great game once I figured out how to play it. A good strategy is not to just kill enemies as quickly as possible, but to mug them for as much money as possible. Try to save your lives for the final bosses who are quite difficult. This was a pleasure to play - another gem of a game by Treasure.Updated 5 Years Ago

The first thing that I should mention here is that I was a recent employee of Working Designs and was at the company when the development of Silhouette Mirage was in the beta-testing stages. This may be considered by some as a conflict of interest, but the reality is that it's only a conflict if I didn't have any integrity. The truth of the matter is that I've been a long fan of both Working Designs and Treasure (I'm sure my three paragraph long homage to the company hinted to that fact). But, the reason why I'm a fan of these companies is because of the GAMES. I've consistently enjoyed the games released by both WD and Treasure. If either releases a title that I don't like, I won't like it.
The bottom line is that Silhouette Mirage is a brilliant 2D-action game that deserves a lot of praise. This game genre has been around since '80s, so it's awe-inspiring that a company would be able to bring such new and innovative ideas to something that's been done for so long.
With that said, this obviously isn't a title for everyone. There aren't 3D worlds, breathtaking polygonal graphics, and countless other elements that many of today's gamers are looking for in their games. This is pure 2D action at its finest.
