The art style is gorgeous, and the music is good but instead of being catchy it a bit more atmospheric, in combination they start giving you this storybook vibe, love it, I don't feel like I should discuss the gameplay since its just Puyo Puyo, but I would like to say that the skills that they added in this release are an interesting addition, if you are a good player they become just a way for your opponent to stay alive for a while longer which is nice in my opinion, also since this is the last game in the series made by compile before they sold the rights to SEGA, it feels like glimpsing into another reality, the way everything feels and looks its such a juxpotition to how these characters are handled now a days, overall a nice experience, will comeback to this one from time to time just to watch those beautiful sprites again.Updated 3 Months Ago

I love the Puyo Puyo series. It's a pity that it's isn't popular in the west compared to what it represents in Japan in terms of puzzle games. Puyo Puyo ~n (or Puyo Puyo 4) is my favorite game in the series, and it has a lot game modes, and lots of different characters each one of them having different powers. In the two player mode for instance, Kikimora feels a little bit too overpowered compared to many of the characters available since she can completely clear the nuisance puyos easily with her power, and surprisingly, even being a early character in the story mode, it was one of the characters that I had the most amount of trouble. Arle (the main character of the series) on the other hand, feels like the most balanced of them all, since you are also going to beat the story mode with her.Well, anyways, there's not much to be said here. It's a Puyo Puyo game, and since you probably know the series, you know what to expect. Nonetheless, the amount of characters, game modes, soundtrack, colorful graphics (I like to play it on the Dreamcast, but the N64 version is also pretty), and nice difficult curve make it the best game of the series.
A solid 8 out of 10 game for me, and one of my favorite puzzle games ever.
* Played on real hardware.

If puyo puyo 2 is the championship edition of puyo where things are extremely fine-tuned for balanced competitive play, then this 4th game is the rainbow edition where balance is thrown out the window for the sake of fun. Every character has their own special ability/super move, each varying in wackiness. Some characters reward you for playing bad. Some drop a giant screen nuke on the enemy for no reason. Some completely wipe away the entire game board. If puyo puyo sun was already too nonsense for you don't touch this one with a 40 foot pole. If you like dumb nonsense and just wanna dick around with unbalanced superpowers, then this game is made for you.Updated 2.5 Years Ago

I really enjoyed seeing all the characters in a sophisticated anime style, the cutscenes were really fun to watch, especially in comparison to its previous generations. The new Super Moves were an interesting twist but somehow I felt the gameplay itself seemed kind of off, people not dying when they should, and dying when they shouldn't. But overall it was a cool experience.Updated 5.5 Years Ago
