While I don't love it like others do, I do find this game enjoyable. My biggest problems are the horrible weapon imbalance and the terrible wily stages (especially the boss that can only be defeated via Crash Bombs). However I do enjoy replaying this game every now and then cause of its simplicity. It's an alright game.Updated 1 Week Ago

Outro jogo que já havia jogado há alguns anos, mas resolvi revisitar pra completar minha planilha.Diferente do Mega Man 1, aqui o avanço é bem explicito ao jogador.
Aqui no Mega Man 2 temos um upgrade legal do jogo anterior.

Mega Man 2 is how NES sequels should have been madeRather than trying to change too much, Mega Man 2 took Mega Man 1's system and did it better. Perfection was still a long way off, with far too aggressive flashing lights and some questionable stage design here and there (Boobeam is the worst boss so far in the series), but overall everything is just better. Honestly, props for making normal mode too, it may not suit the series but it makes the game more accessible, and for me, more enjoyable.

Megaman 2 takes the great game that was Megaman and refines it to make it even better. The levels seem a bit more fair, but still challenging enough to make the game fun. Shoot your way through the levels and defeat the robot master to steal his power. Different abilities are stronger against different robot masters so think about the order you want to play through the game. The last levels do go on a bit long if you ask me, overall a great game in the Mega Man series!Updated 4.5 Months Ago

My first experience in the Mega Man franchise. I knew next to nothing about the series and dove in blind, hence my review is for the standalone game experience and I can't comment on new features or differences from other entries. I love Mega Man 2! It's my favourite retro game so far. The controls are snappy. The core gameplay loop of 'pass stage - defeat boss - get new toys' is paced perfectly for this kind of game and each new weapon brings its own uses. I'm the type to get comfortable in a play-style and avoid gimmicks, but none of the unlocks in Mega Man 2 are gimmicky. The variety is there and it works! The stages, enemies and bosses were all inspired. The game is not lazy with the level design, barring one major exception towards the end-game. Man, and the soundtrack? The graphics? It's still a late 80s video game but it's atmospheric in a moody cartoon type of style. The sprite work is all fantastic, and the pumping music will get you so in the zone when you load up that next stage.I would place this game in the "short but sweet" category. I got through the game in under three hours at first, on Normal difficulty. I replayed on Difficult with roughly the same timing. I'd recommend Difficult over Normal. On Normal mode you'll one-shot most enemies and a lot of the bosses will give you no trouble. Difficult is the way it was meant to be played - in the original Japanese release, it was your only option, and I think that was the better call. There's no brutal or cruel moments of difficulty, like some other titles from the NES era. Your most frustrating deaths will be due to some of the platforming sequences. I can forgive that, though, since the high points come thick and thin, and the lows are limited to a few moments. I rate Mega Man 2 a 5/5, nigh-on perfect. Pure fun.

Mega Man 2 is an absolute masterclass on how to take a somewhat interesting formula and take it to sky-limit, but it's not even why this is the best Mega Man game, and one of the best games of all times. Thing is everything about it is iconic : bosses, levels, musics... you play this one time, you're stuck with it forever.Updated 5 Months Ago

I was always under the opinion that this game is overrated, and that opinion stuck with me for a while. Like, I always respected this game, but I didn’t understand how anyone likes it more than 3-6, especially since I have no nostalgia with this game. So I replayed it, and wow this game is great. + Iconic and simple robot master design
+ Improved controls and movement
+ Weapons that, while not amazing, are a massive improvement over the first game
+ Great level design that compliments the weapons really well
+ A difficulty that, although it maintains the trademark Mega Man challenge, is definitely easier, making this a great first game for newcomers.
= A soundtrack that I’m not as big a fan of as some others
- Metal Blade is too powerful and Air Cutter is too weak. Ugh.
- Wily stage 4 is one of my least favorite levels in the entire classic series. It’s awful.
- A couple frustrating design decisions (cough cough quick man)
- A final boss that isn’t as good as some of the others in the classic series (in my opinion)
In a review of the first game I wrote, I said that it was a good base for a franchise. This game proves that statement correct. Everything about this game feels like a more thought out and balanced Mega Man 1. The robot masters are still simple, but somehow much improved over the first 6. The weapons are all at the very least fun to use, and have their place, even if they can be a bit unbalanced. This game is everything the first game tried to be, creating a platformer that holds up surprisingly well today. Is it my favorite in the classic series? No. Far from it. But this game was pleasantly surprising.

The orb boss is a bit cheap since you HAVE to have full Crash Bombs to beat it properly, but otherwise good improvements from the first game. Bosses are doable now, where in the first game pause glitch was needed to retain sanity.Updated 11.5 Months Ago

This is usually a favorite among the NES Mega Man games and it's easy to see why. Quite a bit like the first game, but significantly easier. Except for Quick Man's level, all the robot's levels are quite easy. Enemies do very little damage and there's plenty of healing items. There's also a lot of weapons that use so little energy that they become viable general purpose weapons. There are a few sections that feel particularly unfair and require memorization. One being the Quick Man levels. If you want to complete it in one go, it's good to practice that level until you have it perfectly memorized. Also the boss for Wily stage 4 is incredibly unfair. You have to use the crash bombs, but there's also gates that you can use the crash bombs on. However, the ammo for that weapon is so limited that there's not enough to do both. So it doesn't tell you, but it's really more of a difficult puzzle room than a boss. If you can't get the ammo back, you might have to get a game over just to have enough ammo.

Mega Man 2 was much less stuttery, glitchy than Mega Man 1. But the actual gameplay was less fun, less thought behind which weapon to use and just use the mega buster and go mayhem against most bosses. When you got item 2 after the 2nd boss everything went a lot easier. Mega man 2 was much more forgiving than it's predecessor regarding health and ammunition.Updated 1 Year Ago

Anything before the final stages in this game is great. But, those final stages hold this one back for me. If you run out of ammo in wily 4 you have to game over to replenish it, and if you have built up extra lives, that's just not fun.Updated 1 Year Ago

Mega Man 2 still remains to be one of the sharpest video game sequels of all time as well as one of the very best games in the entire series. It irons out and refines what made the first likeable as well as trimming some of the fat by making the difficulty and level design much more forgiving, thus resulting in a solid, one-of-a-kind action-platformer.+ Flashier presentation and graphics with more upbeat music
+ Tighter, less slippery controls
+ Significantly more forgiving and accessible than the first game...
- ...but some cracks still show with occasional one-shots and the like
- Frustrating endgame bosses

Mega Man 2 is a near perfect game. It is the game that I play when I want to test input lag on a new TV or monitor because it has a few pixel perfect jumps that require some tight timing. The game is very challenging at first, but is easily mastered. The game-play is super tight, the levels are creative, the robot masters are fun, and the music is some of the best in the series. The one flaw is that the robot masters are extremely easy to kill once you have their weakness. Also, Metal Mans weapon kind of brakes the game, but it is also part of what makes it fun. Even with those flaws however, the game is super fun, and infinitely re-playable.Updated 1.5 Years Ago

A sequel to Megaman that is overall a complete improvement and generally a fantastic experience. The tone down in difficulty, plus the more fun and fair level design while staying challenging is fantastic and a game that I would highly recommend overall. My biggest criticism comes with the fact that you can completely softlock yourself near the end with one of the bosses, which ultimately leaves a significant blemish on this almost perfect NES game.Updated 2 Years Ago

This game is an absolute masterpiece. It's extremely difficult, and I beg anyone out there wanting to play this for the first time to NOT choose difficult. Swallow your pride, it's not worth it. The only thing that holds this game back are its last 3 (4?) bosses. One is literally impossible without having max crash bombs (boobeam in wily stage 4). That alone takes away so so so much from this amazing game. But then the 2nd to last boss is almost comically difficult to dodge properly, and the last boss is a joke. Almost literally a joke.Updated 2 Years Ago
