The first game I 100%'ed and is the perfect game in my eyes!

If you wanted to understand why some people have the itch to do every little thing in a game, this is it. There's simple challenges to beat and are rewarded for, fun mini games the builds a top of the main game and is overall a great time.
There is 1 achievement that will test your patience however. "Better Off Dead" is one of those achievements that at face value, should be comparable to the others in the game, but you will quickly realize why only 8.1% of steam players have the achievement.

Overall, it's a game anyone can get into and enjoy and is an awesome gateway into being a completionist!

One of the best games in recent years. It has a funny style and even funnier game-play. You can play it casually 30 minutes once in a while or hours upon hours. The shere mass of minigames, puzzels and achievements makes this an enduring game with a lot, I mean seriously a lot, of playtime in it, easily more than a hundred hours if you want to. Or, as I said, you can just play it a short time once in a while to relax and it will still be great. You should really explore this game, including the "help" menu :), it's very original and funny. Also amazingly, this is easy to go to and still have very hard levels especially in the minigames, making it popular both among kinder-garden children and people like me at the university. Truly an unique game that will undoubtedly go into video game history and become one of the great classics!

Game Summary
Plant’s vs. Zombies is a fun take on the tower defense genre. You use an arsenal of plants to defend your home from a zombie invasion. Not only is there the main tower defense adventure mode but the game also contains fun mini-games and puzzles among other fun side objectives.

Achievement Summary
The achievement difficulty in Plants vs. Zombies is medium. Most of the achievements are easy to get and require you to do something specific. There are only a handful of achievements that may take a bit of practice which is the reason for the medium rating.

China Shop, Better Off Dead, and Immortal are some of the achievements that may take a few attempts but with enough practice shouldn’t be too difficult to get.

Cryptozombologist is the only achievement that requires a 2nd playthrough. You’ll have to play all the way through level 4-10 in order to find the hidden Zombie that you’ll need for the achievement.

Ask Me About Mustache Mode requires you to type “Mustache” while on the main menu.

I have always loved Plants vs. Zombies and for me this is an easy 5 out of 5! If you like tower defense games and games that are a bit silly then I definitely recommend this one.

As far as casual games go, this one has a lot of charm. It has its flaws but I like the sheer amount of variety in units and enemies. The game does a great job at keeping you busy with lots of little fun tasks. Crazy Dave holds a special place in my brain.

This game is so simple but yet so marvelous. Even if it's not a high rating, its an ABSOLUTE must-play. I think the 2nd one is better and worse than this one at some things, equally are amazing games. I really hate the fact the third one sucks.

Gameplay: 95/100 - Definitely my favorite Tower Defense game, although I'm not that interested in the genre. Incase you somehow haven't played this game yet, let me break the gameplay down for you.
Your main goal is the complete the adventure mode. You start with a single plant, and for most levels you will obtain a new plant as reward, and they're all pretty unique from each other. You start with the Peashooter, which... shoots.. peas... I know, shocking! You have to pay suns to use plants, which at daytime fall from the sky. As your next plant you get the sunflower though, which generates more suns for you to spend on more plants, and it you keep earning new plants with different traits, some more unique than others, some less.
But not only do the plants vary, but so do the zombies! The regular zombie does nothing special, and only really proves challenging in hordes. Than you have his tougher brethren, the cone head and bucket head zombies. These are essentially the same but they way more damage than the regular zombie. There are a lot more zombies, a lot of them also with unique abilities, but giving those away would take all the fun from it.
The 5th and last level of each stage are special. The 5th one usually has some sort of minigame Crazy Dave (your neighbor) introduces you to, and the last one will have a much larger horde of zombies attacking you, but you don't have to worry about picking plants and spending suns, as the game just gives you plants throughout these last levels.
Throughout adventure mode you will also unlock new features and gamemodes, such as the almanac which allows you to read up on all the different plants and zombies, as for gamemodes you get the ability to play different new and taken over from adventure mode minigames and also survival modes.

Visuals: 80/100 - While the artstyle holds up very well today, the PC version unfortunately is locked to 800 x 600, and has never seen an HD upgrade similar to the console versions unfortunately. There are several mods that allow you to play the game in HD, however those have their own .exe, which in turn means that you won't get any steam achievements or see your play time for example.

Performance: 95/100 - The game runs as good as you would expect it to. The only "downside" is, that it is capped to 100fps, which is really not that bad and fair considering for when the game came out.

Audio: 100/100 - Absolutely brilliant for what it is. Each stage has its own catchy tune, as well as minigames and special levels. The sounds themselves add character and at the same time a lot of them also act as audio clues for you to notice approaching threats for example.

Bugs: 100/100 - No issues

Length:8 - 45h around 8-10h, maybe less, if you're only interested in completing the adventure mode, 15 - 20h if you want to try out the different minigames and survival modes, and up to 45h if you want to do everything (including achievements).

Overall: 95/100

TL;DR: Plants vs Zombies is a classic that everyone should have tried at some point, regardless of your taste in genres.

In its time it was a great game, and the fact that it's still a great game today speaks very well of it. A tower defense with a very unique theme and that undoubtedly has defined several characteristics of the genre. Sometimes I replay it from beginning to end because it is very enjoyable.

I used to play this one all the time as a kid. Going back to it now, I don't enjoy it as much as I used to. The game is a little too slow, especially after coming back to it from PvZ 2. The nighttime pool levels are just annoying in my opinion. It's a great game nonetheless.
