I guess I'd share something nice with you guys since the forums are slow for most of the time. We gotta keep it alive! :)

This guy beat the first three MMX games using only one controller input, in under 44 minutes!

I've seen people play all six of the original Mega Man games at once, but those weren't very polished, and they were noisy! :P

He did the same thing with the first four Mario games.

The trick is using save states and playing slowly and nudging them along and reloading if you make a mistake. It is theoretically possible to do in real time, but just about impossible to do without tool-assist. Still impressive nonetheless.

Yep! TASing (Tool-Assisted Speedrunning) is basically playing frame by frame with save states. Many games have been tested on a real console with some devices telling them the inputs, so it's perfectly possible if you're superhuman! :)
You guys should check out some of the stuff on TASVideos, they've beaten Pokémon Yellow in just over a MINUTE! (The video, however, is just an amalgamation of glitches and weirdness), and beaten Super Mario 64 in just over 5 minutes, with 0 stars. :P

Personally, I prefer Speed Demos Archive because they don't use tool-assist (I know that is the whole point of TAS :P). More fun to watch when you know they're doing it all themselves without any help, sometimes the entire game in one go.

A agree with you there. Don't get me wrong, TASes are pretty awesome, but I like seeing people do it without frame-by-fream playthroughs more.

Of course, you wouldn't be able to do something like THIS normally usually, so that is pretty sweet.

I agree with the above two. Speedruns are more enjoyable, for me, when I know there's a person playing live.

There are many games that fall out of sync as well, so it's not perfect, for whatever reasons. Here's a list of ones they have verified on console using the NESBot: https://tasvideos.org/ConsoleVerifiedMovies.html

I enjoy more the TASes that don't focus on speed. These are definitely some to check out for the entertainment and wow factors:

Family Feud: https://tasvideos.org/1248M.html

Anyone else have any favorite entertaining TAS videos?
