if you were to list the best game you bought...well i want to know!
the only thing you have to do is tell me the best game you bought why it was so great, and give me a rating (Example:7/10)
Do something like that.
one last thing my favorite game is saints row third, i liked it because of the storyline, weapons, and vehicles. i give it a 9/10!!

I've really got a three way tie here between Pokemon Blue, World of Warcraft, and Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix for me.
They all have had a big impact, and I'm honestly not sure which I've sunk more hours into.
DDR was a lot of fun to get into, and really fun to get really good at. Nothing like a AAA on Heavy, and nothing like going to different arcades to show off, meet, and compete with other good players. New entries seem to be less and less inspiring, but that's what Stepmania's for! I broke so many dancepads (including a couple of Red Octane metal ones) before I finally decided to go for a Cobalt Flux Pro Pad. Too bad Cobalt Flux shut down not to long ago. :(
World of Warcraft was the first MMO I gave a shot and was hooked. It was really catchy, and fun to play with a group of friends in high school at LAN parties. My sister technically bought it for my birthday somewhere around 2005/2006 I believe, but that account is still active today.
Pokemon Blue was the first video game that really clicked with me, probably ever. I played it over and over, and so did my friends. We'd ride bikes around all day, climb up a tree and battle/trade. Then Pokemon Stadium came along with the Dodrio Gameboy Tower and I spent ever more time playing, but did things 3-4 times as fast. :P
I also distinctly remember working out a deal where I could get a $1 for every mile I ran on the treadmill as a kid about 10 years old. I ran ~30 miles as fast as I could to buy Pokemon. lol

This... this is brilliant! Whenever I end up having kids, I'm going to use this strategy~

Well, I never really bought Chrono Trigger nor Super Mario 64, seeing as I only emulated them... so I'd have to say either Minecraft or Super Mario Galaxy!

Wouldn't your top game of all time automatically be the best game you ever bought?

When I bought Infamous 2 I thought it was worth the 30 something dollars I used to get it. I just couldn't turn it off I had to finish the story and I picked the hero playthrough first. It is number 2 in my collection but it got a great reaction and I bought some DLC to make it extra fun. It is still fun to this day.

Suikoden 3. I bought it when I was a teenager with no clue what it was because I was bored. It turned out to be one the best games I've ever played.

Super Mario World for Super Nintendo is my all time favorite game. But that came with the system so I don't know if that counts. If not it's between Uncharted, Grand Theft Auto, Bioshock, or Gears of War (At least for current Gen)

Left 4 Dead 2
This is not the best game I've ever bought, but I've been playing it for 650 hours or so, I met a lot of friends and had a lot of fun all that time *^^*. It's worth the money for sure!

Shadow of the Colossus...no doubt. I have never felt this emotional playing a videogame as an adult. It is my favourite game of all time :)

Best game I ever bought? Close tie between Super Mario RPG and Psychonauts. Two favorite games.

My favorite game of all time is Banjo Tooie. However, I didn't buy that. My brother did. So I'll go with Psychonauts. My sixth favorite game, first favorite of those that I have personally purchased.

For best game(s) I ever bought, it would have to be the one(s) I got the most time and enjoyment out of. I suppose length of time played typically corresponds to my love of the game. So I'd have to give this award to the games I (re)played much much much longer than any others -- a toss-up between Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy Tactics, Diablo II, Starcraft, and World of Warcraft.
It's interesting that all but WoW are from when I was a teenager. Is there something nostalgic about games when you were that age? Or if time spent playing corresponds to enjoyment, and I don't have the ability to spend so much time on any single game anymore, am I doomed to never play anything that surpasses these because I don't have the time? OR, back then I bought very few games, whereas now I have near 80 in my backlog, sitting on my computer or my shelf waiting for the day I install them. Are the 80 in my backlog just notches on the belt while the select few of my teenage years are the very meaningful ones?

I think it's harder to establish newer favourites because we grow accustom to gaming tropes, the "we've seen this all before". There's less "magic" in them as we grow older and the bar gets higher each time with nostalgia making the classics seem all the better etc. That's not to say newer games can't work their way in there, but I imagine most of the time it's the games that take you by surprise that often end up becoming a "new" favourite, for example, Fallout 3 took me completely by surprise, I know some people hated it but I liked it and because it came out of left field to me it left all the greater impression.
