Please try to avoid utterly broken games that should never have been made.

For me it would have to be Devil May Cry 2. Incredibly easy compared to the original, not a memorable plot, dante got toned down. I had bought the original collectors edition with 1-3 and I didn't know just how bad 2 was, almost made me not want to even go to the third one.

What immediately comes to mind is Deadly Towers for NES. My brother and I hated this game and ended up trading it to my uncle for Bubble Bobble. Huge upgrade if you ask me.

Also I want to throw out Final Fantasy XI. This game took all the worst aspects of MMORPGS (endless grinding, harsh experience penalties) and made it even worse by throwing English and Japanese speakers on the same servers. This game was a disaster in my opinion.

Oblivion is honestly up there for me. I bought into the hype, but really hated playing it. Everything was so dull and slow. I'll think twice before stepping into Elder Scrolls again.

I seriously disliked Terraria for some odd reason... I definitely regret buying it. Funny, since some people seem to enjoy it so much :/

Oblivion was the first WRPG that i tried...hated it and couldn't get into it. Then I played Fallout--liked it more but overall just not my thing. Finally I played Dragon Age Origins and hated it. Beat fallout+DA, but I think I am done trying WRPGs until I get around to mass effect.

The video can't even convey how glitchy and terrible it was. I spent my birthday money buying that :P

But since you somewhat excluded that sort of game...probably something like King Kong on 360. Terrible.

I'm like the opposite. I love all those games but I don't like JRPGs.

Let's see... there was Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring for the GBA. God, that game was TERRIBLE. The darn game even glitched up on me when I was near the end and I couldn't beat the crappy thing! (If you're asking why I played that game to the end, it's because I absolutely REFUSED to not get my money's worth. I was 13 or 14)

Lufia: The Ruins of Lore was pretty bad, too. I refused to touch another Lufia game for years because of it.

I terribly dislike Infinite Space for the DS as well. I feel the mechanics are just plain bad, and the game's not even fun.

The Game that i bought, but regreted ever buying it. that would have to be red dead redemption, the storyline was slow, and the storyline itself was a little on the boring side(Who wants to hunt down there former gang members just to kill them?)the ending was also disapointing(SPOILER ALERT-SPOILER AHEAD) you die by the people who orderd you to kill your fellow gang members. the only thing that made me buy this game was the weapons arsenal and the zombie dlc but that was it.
the game(If i were to rate the base game) would get a 4/10

I hated Oblivion and I also think it ranks up there with my worst purchases - this gen at least - but I really enjoyed Skyrim. Have you played Fallout 3 / New Vegas? Skyrim is a lot more similar to those than to Oblivion.

By the way, does it count if you get the game with a magazine? (IDK if American mags do that, it's pretty common here in Europe.) I've gotten some ridiculously awful games that way :D

Well, I don't think in magazines so much, but whenever you see a 'free' game around these parts either it's not free or it's god awful. Rarely have I've gotten a free game (that wasn't a gift or a well known indie game) and have been pleased with it.

I love JRPGS, thus you are now my enemy. Also a game that I feel questionable about was Monster Hunter Freedom. My first MH game and I spent around 120 hours beating all the main missions. I really disliked a lot of aspects of it but really liked the sense of accomplishment I got. I fear that my gf will love the series and buy them all as they are such a big time sink.

I always used to get free codes that awarded me like a full week of free Ragnarök. It's a pretty fun MMORPG, but I had to create a new account with every free code, so it's not like I could exploit it... :(

I also disliked Oblivion, I wouldn't say that it's the worst game I've ever played but I found the levelling system etc. to be completely backwards thus ruining any enjoyment of the game

Off the top of my head of games that I've played relatively recently however I'd definitely have to say "Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth". As a big fan of H.P. Lovecraft it was such a disappointment for this game to be so bad, but it really is just one of the most poorly designed games I've ever seen.

Guess we should tell him people have different opinions~ (Unless you dislike Chrono Trigger - then you have the single objectively wrong opinion in the entire Earth)

Well, that sums up my opinion of Oblivion word for word. I just gave up after a while, but my boyfriend was so determined to beat it that he restarted with a new character and beat the game at level 3. Much easier to do it that way and never level up than to play the way you're supposed to!

Hmm, more bad games... I watched my roommate play Raw Danger! once. It was... painful. It's the game I go to when I compare game prices and say, "Well, hmm, Raw Danger was 10 bucks... is this game worth a Raw Danger?" It's a good policy.

Both we're absolutely terrible and I typically love all sports games. These were so broken and ugly and laughable just how bad they were.
