A wonderful tech demo packing punches as an actual fully fledged 3D platformer. It sold me on the Dualsense and the PS5 (which I just got yesterday) which I imagine is it's purpose. Excellent choice to have this as a pack in game of sorts. I've never had a Playstation before, so this was important in accustoming me to the controller.

GPU levels were the hardest (well I say "hard" just less easy) because it took me a minute to grapple with the monkey climbing controls, particularly the adaptive triggers. Which I'm struggling to get behind. But we'll see.

It's a charming 3h long game for all ages, akin to 3D Mario and co. Plus it has a remarkable amount of polish and it's a 60fps console game! After 2 generations of 30frame stiffling hell, it's a good impression to make out the gate.

Loved it. Wish there was more. Can't wait for more Team Asobi stuff.

A more than competent 3D platformer, and when you consider the fact that it is a pack in title it makes it even the more impressive. Truly, they did not have to go that hard in on a free game like this but I am glad they did. It isn't terribly long, but both the gameplay and music are both excellent.

A joyful adventure that is just gushing with happiness and glee, I could not put this game down. It has to be one of the best pack in games ever created joining the halls with Nintendo Land and Wii Sports.

The moment is finally here. The next gen consoles have launched and officially become the new current gen platforms. (Just ignore the fact that Microsoft has zero exclusives and most third party games are still slated to only launch on last gen hardware.) But despite the many problems that have coincided with the latest console launch the main thing that should be discussed is the games. Now, considering the fact that the Xbox Series X has zero exclusives and almost no real reason to try and buy it right now, I went with the Playstation 5. Now when someone thinks of the PS5 they probably think of Demon Souls, Miles Morales, or even Sackboy. But instead of reviewing any of those games, I will instead be talking about Astro's Playroom, the free pre-installed game that comes included with every Playstation 5. I know, I know, it doesn't sound that exciting and all of you are most likely frothing at the mouth at this point for my take on Miles Morales, but for right now I just want to talk about the joy that is Astro's Playroom. So Astro's Playroom is a tech demo that showcases the brilliance that is the new Dualsense Controller. However, it is so much more than that. It is an absolutely marvelous 3D Platformer that controls as effortlessly as a modern day Mario game and has enough Playstation themed references to keep the most hard of the hardcore entertained. Seriously, this game has everything referenced, all the way from the PS VR Headset to the Playstation 2 Eye Toy accessory. Every single detail is adorable, and I loved exploring every nook and cranny of each level just to find more game references. The levels are also cleverly designed after parts of the Playstation 5. You have levels based on the fan, the SSD, the memory, and of course the GPU. All of these levels are designed in ways that cleverly tie into the part, such as the fan being a beach/water level, and the closer you get to the fan the colder the world becomes. The music also stands out being particularly great. I'd have to say my favorite track was for the GPU Jungle, where the computerized voice and heavy synths somehow blended the auditory experience of being in a jungle and at a rave at the same time. The graphics are also quite impressive, and seeing a platformer run at native 4K in 60FPS was breathtaking. I have to say I hope we get a fully realized sequel from this team soon because this game is too amazing to just be considered a "one off" or "tech demo."

If you love platformers and Playstation you will adore this. It's so good I want a full game of this. I would not mind at all if PS made the Astro Bot the mascot for their brand. They are so cute and they have that Nintendo appeal. The levels are so great and finding the references to other series is a joy. I did not expect the music to be so good. The GPU song is so catchy, it's stuck in my damn head!! The biggest issue being that it's too limited in scope and the over-reliance on gimmicks makes replaying it not that fun. The moveset is overly simple as well.

Was an amazing introduction to the PS5 controller capabilities. I wish I would have played it right when I got it, but I didn't know how fun it was going to be. Astro's Playroom is a masterclass in terms of design and marketing, and it serves as an excellent showcase for the capabilities of the DualSense controller. The game's blend of nostalgic and futuristic elements is perfect, with players able to collect various Playstation consoles and peripherals throughout the game, while also experiencing the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the PS5. The haptic feedback was a lot of fun and the game's visuals are beautiful, clean and colorful. The level design is fantastic, with players able to traverse through the inside of a Playstation 5 console while looking for secrets and collectibles. The game's length is also good (for me at least), taking me around 6-7 hours to beat the game and collect all puzzle pieces and artifacts.

The only downside to the game is that it only has one level of difficulty. While the standard difficulty is good for most players, some may have wanted to see a harder difficulty option available. Overall, Astro's Playroom is a must-play game that is sure to delight the senses for players of all ages.

A great example of a tech demo. Nice nostalgia trip which also happens to explore the ps5 tech. Probably the unrivalled king of best dual sense features. I had a good time with the game but some of the levels got annoying after a while. However, it was short without much requirements for 100%, so I can't really complain.

👍 The Good:

- Excellent demonstration of the PS5 and DualSense. A travel through memories and the history of the PlayStation brand, it's clear that this was created with great care and attention to detail.
- The number of connections to other videogames in this brand is astounding! If you enjoy these types of easter eggs and references, this is a must.
- It's a pretty great platformer and every mechanism has been meticulously designed to make the most of the new controller while also being fun. If this were a complete game, it would most likely be an excellent example of its genre. If you want to compare it to something, think Crash Bandicoot or Ratchet and Clank.

👎 The Bad:

- Not much. It's short, but it's a free demo for your new PS5 with DualSense, so we can't really ask for anything more.
