Baba Is You is a puzzle game where the rules you have to follow are present as blocks you can interact with. By manipulating them, you can change how the game works, repurpose things you find in the levels and cause surprising interactions!
How long is Baba Is You?
When focusing on the main objectives, Baba Is You is about 7 Hours in length. If you're a gamer that strives to see all aspects of the game, you are likely to spend around 47½ Hours to obtain 100% completion

I've already started this game so will continue it's a rather interesting puzzle game and is based around rules and changing rules where you can. Some puzzles are getting rather difficult now as well though and at times I'm finding it harder then it's worth but overall I'm finding it an impressive puzzle game

I'm going to start it straightaway. I'm hoping to solve a puzzle every now and then, but I certainly won't be playing hours of this on end. I find it really difficult already and I'm in the first stage (the lake) on the second level :-)

From what I’ve seen of this one it looks a lot of fun and it’s been one I’ve wanted to give a try! I remember I’ve got it in one of the bundles they’ve done on itch.I’m. I’m currently looking for a new laptop currently so I’m probably going to wait to start it till I end up getting it hopefully soonish (once I decide on what I’m getting 😅)

Pretty cool and creative concept - completed a few levels. Going to play this at a leisurely pace as I can see myself getting frustrated with some of the logic puzzles.

I played it last year and ended up dropping it rather quickly. It gets extremely difficult and complicated. I ended up having to use a walkthrough with hints for almost every puzzle after world 3 or 4, and eventually the hints didn't help anymore either, and I would get stuck for ages every stage, only to have to look up and follow a walkthrough very closely. Thought at that point I might as well save me the frustration and watch a playthrough on YouTube, or drop the whole thing altogether, which I ended up doing.
I remember thinking at the time how there are people who can finish this game without a walkthrough, let alone create this game, but somehow we still haven't cured cancer and haven't invented FTL space travel. Some of those galaxy brained individuals need to put their skill to good use 💀
In all seriousness though, it's a good, well designed puzzle game. Has a charming character and art design in general as well, and the music is pleasant. Just stupidly difficult. Y'all have fun with this one, I didn't vote for it 😂

I watched a YouTuber play the entire game a while back and I do remember how absolutely insane the game got near the end. I'll see how far I can get maybe I'll just do the main story. Either way I'm excited to give it a shot.

When you looked up the solution, did you feel "oh that's fair/creative why didn't I think of it?" or was it more "Omg that doesn't make sense, puzzle is stupid"?
I could handle the former, but I would be extremely peeved at the latter.

No it's always fair and logical. You just have to think outside the box to the extreme. The game likes to bait you with a seemingly straightforward way to solve a puzzle, but then throws in road blocks to make those not work, so that you have to work around puzzles in very clever ways. I never thought the puzzles were stupid, it was more like "Who could possibly dream up a solution like that?".
EDIT: There is difficulty progression as well, the game starts off very easy to get you to learn the mechanics and basic rules of it. It does ramp up heavily after two hours or so.

Can this game be played one handed? I injured my hand a few weeks ago which is limiting what I can play. Wouldn't mind trying this but I'd hate to get so far in only to realise it needs multiple timed inputs or something that I won't be able to do. First glance suggests it's all just minimalist directional movement.

baba is goty. some of the smortest puzzles and "baba is cute" and "keke is cute". i like how game doesnt have texted tutorials and You kinda figure stuff on own through levels. i didnt do all puzzles like 120 dandelion thingies so mayb could play some more somtimes.
it is one of more difficult puzzles with lots of logic, but i have pattern brain with high iq so was very manageable and fun even though im extremely stupid in more meaningful things outside vidyagames.

right better lay out the fact I had started this game before today and had reached the final levels in the 2nd world. Anyway here is my where I got to today:
Reached the 4th world and stuck on 4-8: Ghost Guard.
View is the still the same that some levels are too difficult but at the same time I feel stupid alot of the time cause I don't relise a rule can do a specific thing. I will 100% admit that I have cheated a few of these levels by looking up solutions but I try to do that sparingly. I have at least found a website to give me hints but still stuck on what to do in 4-8 (I have to get a ghost back to the start so I can get it's flag inside I have a movable rock and teleporting leaves. My thought is to move the rock to the ghost and then turn it into a leaf but foilage is blocking the entrance and that sinks any item that hits it so I can move my rock over it.)
— 07/02/2023 at 10:20 PM
Up to Fall-D: Scenic Pool Realized I can create babas and keke with the weak text but can't get past the skull yet as it creates a wall on defeat. I know I need to get keke to float but not sure what I can do to get to that yet
So the big issue I have with this game atm is that alot of the puzzles seem to work on spatial awareness and I'm not good with that but alot of these puzzles are so devious and it takes a really smartarse to come up with these puzzles. I won't say this is the hardest puzzles I've played (that honor goes to spacechem) but it is definetly a challenge. I'm play in big burst though and this not the type of game to play in big bursts so rec playing a level or two and have it as a more background game. Still while i've been complaining this is an ingenious and excellently well built puzzle game I rec to give a try

Interesting you say Spacechem is more difficult. I'm still on world 1 and I feel if the difficulty ramps up as people say, this would end up being harder - if merely because you need to think outside the box, whereas Spacechem was all hardcore logic.
Spacechem is one of my favorite puzzles games and amongst my proudest moments in gaming getting all achievements without a guide.

Started this game a couple of days ago! I had actually started this game back in 2019, but got distracted with other games (and a bit frustrated), so was looking for a reason to come back to it and finally give it another shot!
In my first play session, I beat the intro levels and 100%'d Area 1. It was much easier than I remembered from when I played it back then, although I'm sure there was some knowledge in the back of my mind helping me through some of it. Definitely had a lot of fun!
On my second session though... Area 2 made me remember how hard this game can be, and I remember why I got frustrated in the first place xD However, at the time I was striving to pretty much 100% everything I played, and that is definitely not me right now. So I decided to just do the required amount of levels and move on forward. And I think that was definitely the best decision for me. Still having fun with just moving through the game
After that, I was able to (minor spoilers) beat the required levels in Area 3, but I couldn't even beat a single 1 in Area 4. I was extremely close to figure out a solution with teleporting water out of the way, but there was something that just wasn't clicking for me. Fortunately, I was able to put that aside and continue on. With that, I got around to beating the required levels for Areas 5 through 8, so not sure if Area 4 is just a spike in difficulty or my way of thinking just doesn't mesh well with it
Now, for MAJOR spoilers (stuff you probably would like to find out on your own) I was totally caught off guard when I got to the next World Map levels and was able to transform one into Baba and other one to a flag. I really thought that may be how to get the credits to roll, but it just took me to Area ??? which was a very fun way of discovering an extra, secret world. I'm still amazed. And the first level there also was mind-bending. Was not able to complete it because it was at the end of a play session and my brain was already fried, but seems like a super cool mechanic!
Definitely glad to finally getting back to it, but I'm not sure how much more my brain can handle. Not sure how many more levels I can beat before I have had enough, but it's probably not that many

Oh man on the major spoiler I wasn't totally sure if I knew what you were talking about or not, so I looked up just the beginning of that sequence and realized I hadn't done it, but I was wondering what turning a level into Baba was for. I was just entertained by it; I hadn't seriously considered further use for that. There's some wild stuff in the game it's great.

I made it all the way up to the sixth area while completing most of the levels in every area while only leaving a few not fully completed What I've found out is that the correct answer is never the obvious solution because after that you still have to dig five layers deeper to find the right solution. This can be brain numbing at times. Usually it helps if I take a break and come back with a fresh mindset.
I'm currently on vacation so I'll have to finish the game when I come back near the end of the month.

EoQ update:
— 07/03/2023 10:08 PM
Reached the fifth area now forest. Got to the fourth level - Baba doesn't respond got to get past the reed before the door is opened. Have some shift I can move and Baba can be moved
— 07/05/2023 10:01 PM
Just beat Forest 5-9 The floor is moving. No hints released that one. Yeah makes me feel smart sometimes
— 07/06/2023 10:02 PM
currently on Forest 5-14 Tiny Pasture Think I got a solution now. I need to just figure out how to get win from the bottom of the screen after teleporting it. That hint website I found has been a bigger help then I expected. Sometimes you just need a nudge to figure out the right way of doing things
— 07/07/2023 10:04 PM
So finished the forest level and moved onto space. Now on Space 6-6 Aiming high I know what I need to do but it's getting both babas in the same location. This is the type of puzzle I really don't like in this game
— 07/09/2023 7:36 AM
forgot to update yesterday but not much progress. Only completed Space 6-6 Aiming high
— 07/09/2023 11:02 PM
finished the space levels now onto the gardens now doing the second extra level Out at sea: Got to move both a lava and a ice to open a door and box for the flag. Only got one is and a belt prevents me from moving back to switch between the two got pushing
So it has been said that these levels are excellently made with alot of aha moments but alot of who would think that moments. Personally I get the idea of one solution which gives a huge challenge to the game but I wish it was a bit more looser and allowed for multiple possible ways of reaching the solution. Alot of times I already the solution for the puzzle there is a what I feel an unecessary step to reach them (Fine example is turning off the water is sink with the on Pillar in the 7-7:Blockade level but to do this you need to push rock is push through half the level just so you can move the words in the correct location). I feel that alot of these solutions just one extra unecessary step at times. Still when you get a aha moment the europia is epic just allowing to think outside the box correctly

You guys must be geniuses or have the patience of a saint. I've been banging my head against the same few levels and don't think I'm going to complete this game - just way too frustrating - which really surprised me as I enjoy puzzle games (absolutely loved Spacechem and Lemmings).
I feel the main reason why this game didn't gel is because unlike other puzzle games where I have a rough idea of the solution, and could gradually progress and problem solve towards an observable goal. Eg Spacechem I could complete the level exceeding the allowed time, and then work on efficiency to bring it under the required time. Lemmings I know where the exit is and just comes down to creative use of limited resources and correct timing/execution.
When it comes to Baba is You, I feel completely lost. I could spend hours trying to work an idea only to find I was completely off, and the solution was actually a simple gimmick. Completing levels doesn't give me a sense of achievement because half the time it's just random trial and erroring upon the solution.
Will give it one final session tonight, and if no progress, will just guide my way through.

Just wanted to post a handy resource I found for level-by-level hints. They’ll never tell you the solution outright, but if you’re struggling to conceptualize a solution, they can at least point you in the right direction.
This is a replay for me, so I’m already pretty familiar with all the gimmicks. I definitely remember being overwhelmed the first time I played it, but if you develop a process for approaching the puzzles, they become more manageable (mostly).
A few general tips:
- Make sure you understand the rules regarding syntax. Probably seems obvious, but it will save you a lot of time if you remember that nouns always come before properties, and the first noun in a rule is the one that will be acted upon. “AND” can combine two nouns, two properties, or a combination of the two. Two “NOT” blocks can be used in the same statement (eg, “NOT BABA is NOT SINK” would negate the SINK property for every object that is not Baba, even if there is a “LAVA is SINK” rule elsewhere, thus allowing Baba to walk over it safely).
- When you start a new puzzle, figure out if there are any rules that are absolute. Usually, these are your basic “WALL is STOP” kind of deal—rules that are inaccessible and can’t be changed. Knowing what you absolutely CANNOT do can help shrink your list of potential solutions.
- Related to the above, consider all the possible rules you CAN make. For some levels I actually write a physical list, but that may be overkill. Also, consider how any rules can be broken or modified after the fact. If you turn a KEY into a BOX, you can theoretically turn it back into a KEY if you need to (unless there’s a “BOX is BOX” rule that makes the change permanent).
- Observe the nuances of any new rule you encounter, because I guarantee they will be part of a puzzle solution eventually. For example, pushing a BELT changes its orientation to whatever direction you just pushed it in, so if you place an object on it, it will SHIFT it in the new direction. PUSH and PULL both turn on an object’s collision, which can be useful to know if you need them to catch a falling object, for instance.
- Make ample use of the undo move button. I hope this one is obvious, but I have some friends who forgot about it and restarted the entire level every time they misclicked. The undo button lets you experiment with different rules with lower stakes. And as an aside—don’t be afraid to just try something out, even if you know if won’t work. You can gather a lot of intel just by screwing around.
All that advice is pretty straightforward and might not be useful, but I hope it can help even a little bit. I really think this game is something special, so I just wanted to offer whatever might get folks to enjoy it better.

All excellent advice above. Especially the undo button. I used that constantly.
I'd also add sometimes it's better to take a break from a level. Sometimes things need to sit in your brain and then come back with fresh eyes.
And maintain a sense of humour. Solutions are rooted in rule manipulation but can be very cartoony in their results like one instance I remember that led to creating infinite boxes.
Failure can be educational, but also funny too like one time I flooded a level with BABAs. Couldn't move for BABAs. Didn't help my cause but it was entertaining

Excellent advice by KerfMerf.
I've started completing the levels with a guide and the creativity and genius behind this game is absolutely jaw dropping.
I've been going through every single level (including all the bonus ones) and just marveling at the masterpieces that are the levels and the logic.
Frustrating as the game may be, I cannot deny the creator has MAJOR talent, and I will be following them in their future endeavors.
Somewhat regretting that I didn't try harder to complete the game on my own - I potentially could have done it, but it would have taken 100+ hours and countless weeks of frustration and I just wasn't in the mood for that level of commitment.

For what it's worth, I've found that the game is really rewarding to replay after a few years. I also used a guide for some levels on my first playthrough and felt some of that regret, but I've been able to figure things out faster and more independently on the second go-round. The puzzles are complex enough that I've forgotten the specific solutions, but my brain is more hard-wired to think the way the game wants me to think. It's especially satisfying to recognize a level that I used a guide on before because it seemed impossible and conquer it on my own now.

So the gardens are done and I opened the last 3 levels on the world hub but moved to the chasm. Currently on the level Visiting babu: I need to allow myself to push two mushrooms and rocks across water to reach babu. Is Word is used.. Spoiler from one of the world hubs levels I turned one of the levels into baba was def not expecting that
— 07/13/2023 10:01 PM
so one last level in the chasm. The last lot I couldn't really get or were one step away from the solution
07/14/2023 10:07 PM
Done the chasm now on the volcano. 9-13 Tunnel think I got the solution I need to push one skull onto a flame and then form a sentence so that the skull is not pushed when facing skull
— 07/16/2023 12:38 AM
Reached the moutaintop now 10-6: Floaty platforms Trying to figure out how to get the key and door together there are three moves between platforms and 3 rocks so there must be a way of pushing the rocks back onto the platform. I also found a Bonus orb

So just beat Baba is you with all 163 levels at least on the map and not hidden completed. I did cheat in a decent chunk of the maps and looked up solutions. I will have to save overall this is a well made and unique puzzle game which is fully about thinking outside the box and alot of the levels can be extremely devious in there thought process. The puzzles can be very challenging and take some time to beat which I say makes this game more of a slow burn where you leave it in the back of your mind and do something else instead. Ultimately I feel the rush style of play I did for this as part of GotM didn't suit this game. Never the less I still recommend this game although certain puzzles I feel you have to many steps needed to complete and should've been cut back. I also feel that there no issue with finding work arounds in this game and they should've been kept in instead of patched out.
