Finally Beat BG3, was super overwhelming but man i had a blast. I love all the party characters and ended up doing majority of the side quests, just wish it was easier to know if you were gonna make a mistake.Regardless, cinematics, vibes, characters and feel were amazing with the combat being hard and confusing in act 1 but picking up later down the track. Act 2 was my favourite.
Best party is Gale, Shadowheart and halsin/Jaheria imo
Probbaly like a 88/100 for me

What a fantastic game, I have loved playing this with my husband and he loves it even more then I do. The companions are amazing with detailed stories that have only gotten better with patches. The romances are cheesy but also riverting and affect how your choices might change. The co-op multiplayer is one of the best features, online and couch co-op. One of the few games that lets you do this these days. My only downside is that, and this is especially true for Act 3, that I found it to be very overwhelming getting through everything without thinking I was missing out and the combat can take some time getting used to if you've never played a larian studios game or a DnD game before. Though both of these are made alot easier in the multiplayer. But would highly recommend if you love story driven adventures were anything can happen :)Updated 1 Day Ago

When you're a kid you have all the free time in the world. You don't have groceries to buy, you don't have bills to pay, and you certainly don't have the luxury of tossing away all the other responsibilities that come with being an adult just to play video games all day. This is why games with long playtimes can be so intimidating to get into as you grow older. I look back at what I used play as a kid and wonder how the fuck I put so many hours into them.
Take Pokémon LeafGreen, one of the first games my parents ever bought for me. I played it for around 150 hours. I used to grind the same trainer battles for hours on end. I thought this was fun.
Let's look at some other games. Pokémon SoulSilver. 220 hours. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. 110 hours. Pokémon Black. 163 hours. Pokémon Diamond. 261 hours.
Now, if you can't tell, I was kind of into Pokémon as a kid.
Regardless of my past obsession with that franchise, my playtimes now paint a completely different picture. It's rare for me to put 50 hours into a game, let alone anything coming close to what I achieved in my youth. As an adult, the only 2 singleplayer games that have kept me entertained for that long are Persona 5 Royal, which I was getting sick of near the end of my playthrough, and The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
I spent my entire summer playing Baldur's Gate 3 and I have no regrets.
I love the characters and the battles we've fought together and how I've seen them grow as people throughout our adventure. Words cannot do justice for how impressive of an achievement to bring these characters to life. BG3 is a LONG ASS game. I put 137 hours into it and haven't experienced countless scenes. Every conversation with the main characters is voice acted and animated using motion capture. Everyone has their own little idiosyncrasies, like how Lae'zel will cock her head at you in disapproval or how Astarion sometimes adds a rough playfulness to his intonation. I ended up caring for all of them and wanting to do my best to give them happy endings.
I love the intertwining stories and how there is this greater conspiracy for you to unravel with the Illithid plot to overtake the world. Many things in the first act hint at this. The climaxes at the end of each act play out wonderfully and always gave me a sense of satisfaction. I enjoyed celebrating with the tieflings and everyone else in my camp after we saved them from the goblins. Relief washed over me after we killed Ketheric and watched the shadow curse dissipate. I felt nothing but exuberance after destroying the Elder Brain and watching the citizens of Baldur's Gate cheer.
I haven't experienced a game where all the characters you've helped band together to help you in the final fight. Nor one where they thank you for your efforts in improving their lives. It meant a lot, knowing that the time I put into the sidequests wasn't just for material gains, but that it was consequential.
My favourite part of the combat is how creative you can be, which is not something RPGs are typically known for. You can talk your way out of fights. You can avoid fights completely. You can turn enemies against each other. You can shove enemies into chasms to one shot them. You can surround enemies with explosive barrels and blow them to the afterlife before they even have a chance to react (my favourite).
What a magnificent achievement for role-playing games. Baldur's Gate 3 is the type of adventure I dreamed of going on as a kid, when I was playing my silly little Pokémon games.

The best turn based rpg I've ever played. The depth of the plot, the lore and the characters' backgrounds is unprecedented. I could feel the love and the attention put into every second of making this game, and I can only hope I see the same for future videogames.94/100, misses the perfection because of the camera not always working properly and some quests being too easy to screw up.

This game is a massive accomplishment, and I am very glad that I was able to get into it. Im not usually as into turn-based combat, but the sheer freedom you get within the turn-based environment here is unmatched. The combat is really engaging, allowing so many different approaches to any encounter. On top of that, the story is amazing, I love the characters, all the quests, the writing, its all just so good. Bizarre that a CRPG of all things can be this damn approachable and fun to an audience like myself!!Updated 1.5 Weeks Ago

One of the best RPGs, if not games in general, I've ever played. Completely engrossed me, even if I'm not typically a fan of turn-based combat and CRPGs. And so much replay value with different builds and re-exploring areas fully. I already have another save file with over 60 hours.Updated 2 Weeks Ago

I am giving this game 9/10 instead of a full 10/10 because of the forced woke BS which makes you feel like almost everyone around you is homosexual which I disliked a lot. Another issue I had was too small font that you can't change (except the dialogue and books' font size) which was super disturbing, playing on a laptop screen. Also, there have been some bugs regarding my team members, mostly Jaheira where the game was treating her as an NPC for me. Her spells would not work on other teammates, she wouldn't join a fight when one was triggered - what fixed it was a mod from Nexus called "Recruit any NPC - Transform NPC Into Playable Character..." - I used new "spells" it provided to make Jaheira leave my party and then rejoin. The mod was breaking my sound, so I uninstalled it right after that, but the "fix" remained. Shame on Larian to have such bugs still littering the game, a year after release, hence the lower note. Apart from that, it's just an amazing story, full of passion to both D&D and storytelling. The characters you meet are gonna sit in your memory for a long time, the plot thickens act by act and the progressions/combat system just feel so good. Definitely worth a playthrough!Updated 3 Weeks Ago

The freedom that the game gives you is amazing, and the quantity of content, dialogues, cutscenes (with quality) that it offers is really impressive. Even after finishing the game I feel like I just played 10% of the game, but you can still understand whats happening anyways, which is quite a feat.On the otherside, so much content and terms for someone like me who didn't knew nothing about D&D "culture" can be overwhelming and exhausting, but luckily I played with someone else who already knew much more about it so that helped a lot.
The characters are really charismatic and have well polished personalities so you will grow attached to them for the better or worse.
I'm sorry Karlach my beloved, I wanted to save you I swear ;-;
It’s the one thing I can’t beat, isn’t it? I wanted to live. In my city. With my friends. But life is for the living. And I saw gods.

I've never played Dungeons & Dragons, Baldur's Gate or any CRPG ever in my life, but I'm just gonna say it straight away; this game is fucking nuts! From the nearly endless amount of gameplay options, to the absolute freedom of choice, constant decisions that matter and different outcomes, unparalleled depth, variety and content, Baldur's Gate 3 is without a doubt, the ultimate RPG of all time, hands down. The story of the game, however, is divided into 3 Acts.
Act 1 is probably the best and most well-designed videogame experience I've ever had, 40 hours worth of content.
Act 2 is half the lenght of the other 2 acts and more linear, but it's a refreshing change of pace and a great continuation of the first act.
Act 3 is the culmination of the entire story and it's very similar to the first act, albeit slightly less polished, but it's incredible nonetheless.
Overall, the story is very interesting and well-written, although it relies heavily on side-stories like many other RPGs.
The characters are some of the best I've ever seen, period.
The visuals and the music are amazing as well, especially the music.
Unfortunately, the game suffers from some minor technical issues at times, like pop-ins and input lag, but it's not a big deal at all.
Pros:
+ Excellent gameplay
+ RPG elements and depth
+ Variety and content
+ Intriguing story
+ Wonderful characters
+ Beautiful music and visuals
Cons:
- Minor technical issues
Narrative: 9/10
Gameplay: 10/10
Content: 10/10
Characters: 10/10
Music: 10/10
Graphics/Audio: 9/10
Final Rating: 10/10

At the end of the day, I'm thankful at Larian Studios for dedicating mind and soul to create such a passionately crafted work of art in every single way. The developers really cared about this game and it shows; Baldur's Gate 3 is the kind of videogame other studios should look up to, and it also managed to do the impossible; I can't even believe that I'm saying this... but it's my new favorite videogame of all time.
Do I recommend it?:
Must-play for RPG fans and highly recommended for everyone else too, just keep in mind that it's not the most accessible game out there.

Truly deserving the title of "The Greatest Game Ever Made".An incredible RPG with a fantastic story that spanned dozens of hours and yet has never for a second grown stale or tiresome.
The way Baldur's Gate 3 unfolds the story slowly, bit by bit, uncovering more and more of the details while presenting you with new mysteries around every corner is truly something everyone should experience - a masterclass in storytelling.
I absolutely adore everything about this game, and most of all its companions that truly feel like actual people with their own personalities, goals and challenges to overcome and seeing them grow over the course of our journey has filled me with joy.
The gameplay is fantastic, as well - I'm normally not a fan of turn-based combat, but I adored my time with the fights here.
Is the game without flaws? No.
Is it the best thing I have ever played? Yes, and it isn't particularly close.

The story and role playing in this game is incredibly well done. The combat is really fun but has a lot of issues that makes the use of more intricate mechanics very difficult. The camera can be ridiculously annoying in combat too. As well as the positioning which can be really difficult to determine how far you need to move at times without getting your movement "deleted" in a sense even though the game told you that you could go a different path that is longer.

Yet another game where I can’t rule the world with my villain love …Okay first, I know nothing about Dungeons & Dragons nor Baldur's Gate. I also never finished either Divinity game. So I had it rough with some systems and haven’t fully understood things like, when abilities are available or how often they can be used.
Let’s also get some things out of the way first that are universal dislikes for me:
- Larian Inventory
- Larian Combat
- Larian Act 3
- Larian UI
Now with regards to the game’s atmosphere, I'm not easily immersed and understandably to me, I had a difficult time here. The narrative writing serves an unnecessary amount of direct exposition and hand-holding with repetitive stories to boot. The outstanding voice acting carried it quite far for me, but there's a difference between simply outstanding and actively servicing the game. And although I actually wasn’t as disappointed with later acts as I have been with other Larian games, the closing sequences felt real awkward and out of place to me.
Not every single goddamned thing needs a dice roll! I don't care to min-max, but the game’s systems put a lot of pressure on me to do so — failure in rolls most often leads to undesired/near-impossible combat or totally dropped questlines that far too often bricked my save. And I really dislike critical successes/failures, when it should be thematically impossible for my characters to succeed/fail at certain rolls.
The world felt small to me, with the passing hours mostly lost to the tedium of dice rolls, overuse of combat encounters, and way, way too much dialogue. There’s a disappointing expectation of relatively linear progression — dialogue, behavior, and environments mostly don’t change even if the circumstances change. It also didn’t help that I felt like there were genuinely incredible set pieces ruined by the struggling camera. However, the ambient soundscapes throughout the game were straight wonderful.
In terms of bugs, I experienced a fairly high amount of game-impacting bugs like extreme volume inconsistency, missing or broken dialogue, and incorrect quest marker locations. I’m going to assume part of that was responsible for the absolutely comical animations throughout the game, especially character expressions, that didn’t make any sense to me.
Speaking of characters, the way the game handled companions was not for me. In fact, it notably marred the game. I felt they were doll-like with inconsistent character development, making it difficult for me to become invested in their stories — not to mention the way they constantly romantically pursue your character. I just felt detached despite my optimistic efforts, so it's truly tragic execution in my eyes.
I certainly appreciate the scope and ambition of Baldur’s Gate 3 in the landscape of games, but it’s unfortunately not the all-time masterpiece for me that I know it is for many others. Still, it's a game with a lot going for it and undisputed industry influence.

When I played Divinity: Original Sin 2 for the first time, I was thinking “Holy shit, this is one in a lifetime game!” Years later, Larian Studios gifted me the same feeling, yet with another game. Not going to lie, initially I didn't like the game, because it felt a bit frustrating on Xbox (I played Divinity on PC). But once I got used to controls and mechanics, I immersed completely.
There are a lot of choices you can make in the game, a lot of different directions to take. The combat is fun and the characters are intesesting.

Gameplay: 10/10I resurrected a DND 5E character from a campaign I played a few years ago, Finn. He's a half-elf bard, chaotic good, which basically gave him free reign in character to complete any quest that would give him or the party an advantage in the battle against the Absolute. It was super fun learning and exploring all of the game's mechanisms. The combat and role playing are so in depth and options are plentiful.
Story: 10/10
The story differs drastically based on the characters you recruit and the choices you make.
I chose a party based around characters that resonated with Finn's personality. Gale's power and intelligence, Karlach's honesty and brute strength, and Shadowheart's mytique. My only regret is not recruiting the dog early on in the game due to a failed check, but I did get the owlbear.
The story highlights were the end of Act 2, the House of Hope, and of course the finale and epilogue.
Sound & visuals: 10/10
Baldurs Gate 3 has an iconic and memorable soundtrack. From the soothing Down by the River to the operatic Raphael’s Final Act, Borislav Slavov has done an incredible job writing songs and music that bring the world and story to life. I loved how the same musical motifs recur throughout the game in different contexts like night time and cut scenes.
The world is rich in detail that really make it feel believable and character models are expressive, cutting edge 3D models.
Do I need to mention the voice acting? What a cast of talented actors! I especially enjoyed performances by Neil Newbon as Astarion and Amelia Tyler as the ever present narrator.
Overall: 10/10
Baldurs Gate is an incredible game. It is unbelievably detailed and there are so many choices for the player to make. I will hopefully find another 100 hours for a second playthrough some time soon.
