Played on Nintendo Switch and Steam. This game is my favorite in the Portal series, featuring a little robot named Wheatly, who follows you on your journey through the Aperture Science Labs. The game is very enjoyable and of course, puzzling.

Portal 2 builds on what Portal did right and adds some cool worldbuilding to the mix. The DLC is nice with a friend as well. Portal 2 is just a very solid experience whether solo or co-op, and improved upon what Portal did well.Updated 1 Month Ago

Portal somehow is able to enrapture even me, a Puzzle game hater, into its Lunacy. Lunacy is definitely an apt term for the storyline of it too. It's a fantastic time, and I love the way it handles puzzles compared to other Puzzle games. I actually want to do them because there's a driving factor in getting to see more and getting to progress from those puzzles. The way they're handled in some games like God of War 2018 don't give you a reason to want to do them, so they ultimately feel like a chore. It's a fine line Puzzle games have to walk, right? How do you keep the players engaged in these Puzzles enough that they feel like they want to keep doing them? I think Portal 2 does that excellently, which is why it's the pinnacle of its genre.Score: 94

I had good fun playing this game. The gameplay is great and serves a good puzzle. I really like the new additions they added since the first game. The characters and writing of the game is good and its funny. I thought the visuals of the game were very good for a game that came out in the early 2010's, at least to my eyes. My favorite character has got to be GLaDOS, i love her. Anyways great game. Would Recommend!Updated 1 Month Ago

Like the first one but more extreme. I fear that it won't be as fun when I play it again, so I've avoided it since 2018. Also earns the title of "perfect game" I think.Updated 1 Month Ago

All around Portal 2 is a fun 7 hours. Excellent pacing, no mechanic overstays its welcome, whenever gameplay is about to start feeling tedious or boring something changes in the narrative providing a break from the puzzles, switching up the environment, and setting the stage to introduce fresh mechanics. Everything from the writing to the environmental atmosphere presents itself in service of a distinct and recognizable tone that will stick in the player's memory long after they've finished the game. Portal 2 refined what Portal established, and in the process inspired and set the standard for an entire genre. My complaints with the game are a bit nitpicky, but worth voicing. In the old aperture areas the telegraphing isn't always clear. In this section there were multiple points where my question wasn't how to get somewhere, but rather where I was supposed to be trying to get to in the first place. Additionally, in service of the game's excellent pacing and approachable difficulty, none of the puzzle mechanics feel like they're pushed to their limit. While I think this was ultimately a good compromise, and community levels/coop levels may make ip for this, it does point towards a larger discussion about the possible conflict between mechanical depth and narrative pacing in video games at large.

This review is about the cooperative campaign of Valve Software's Portal 2, playing the Xbox 360 console version on Xbox Series X through backwards compatibility. The cooperative campaign is separate from the single-player one — and in fact takes place after it in the same universe — so it’s questionable to consider only a co-op playthrough a “completion” of Portal 2; I do want to play the single-player campaign of Portal 2 eventually, but for now, this will have to do.Portal 2 is a masterpiece. The puzzles and difficulty are all genius — even if some moments felt unintuitive at times — and the way that it teaches players to work together is unmatched. Each mechanic is introduced perfectly, is fun to mess around with, but never overstays its welcome. From liquids that make the player jump higher or run faster to beams that transport them to blocks that can be picked up and moved, each addition makes the game far more interesting. And the portals themselves feel responsive to create and so much fun to use. The iconic infinite loops are necessary to complete the co-op campaign, as are many other momentum-building tricks, which add a variety to gameplay unseen in the single-player campaign.
The story seems to be less involved than the single-player offerings, though Portal 2’s cooperative campaign maintains the fun and charming yet background-lore heavy narrative seen throughout the series. GLaDOS, an artificial intelligence supercomputer omnipresent throughout the game, keeps her trademark humor, which is helped by jabs at one player or another meant to sow friendly division between the game’s co-op partners. Graphically, Portal 2 is basic, with the white rooms being series trademarks but also rather uninteresting to look at.
My primary criticism is that I wished the puzzles were more open-ended. Often, solving puzzles boils down to finding the white walls in which portals can be placed, placing them there, and then proceeding. It would obviously be much more involved and difficult to design, but having much more areas in which portals could be placed would give the player the opportunity to actually work out why a portal goes where it does instead of just having to note that a portal does go there.
But don’t be fooled, Portal 2 is a masterpiece. The co-op campaign is one of the best I have played, having not only tools like a pointer and countdown that make collaboration easy but also puzzles perfectly designed for two players, with a couple moments here and there that allow for some — but not too much — friendly sabotage. Though I can’t comment on its primary single-player campaign, I highly recommend Portal 2’s cooperative campaign to anyone willing to try it. No matter the player count, the series is one of, if not the strongest in the puzzle genre, and its ingenious execution shines throughout the game’s entirety.

I thought it would be almost impossible for Valve to top the original Portal, but they definitely did with Portal 2. There are new challenges and new ways of overcoming them that will both puzzle and delight you. The humour from the first game is all there but ramped up significantly with new characters and witty dialog.Playing the two-player cooperative mode with my grown-up daughter was an amazing experience! We were in different locations, communicating over Discord. So much fun trying to work out how to get through those chambers by working together.

Portal 2 is one of the best puzzle games ever, with an amazing story and hilarious dialogue. The characters are super fleshed out and fun, making the game even more engaging. GLaDOS returns as a great antagonist, joined by new characters like Wheatley and Cave Johnson, who add a lot of humor. Wheatley’s betrayal is a surprising twist, and the ending where GLaDOS lets you go and throws Wheatley into space is unforgettable. The puzzles are challenging but rewarding, and the game’s humor and storytelling set it apart. An absolute must-play for video game fans.Updated 2 Months Ago

An absolute classic puzzle game, and I personally think GLaDOS is one of the best villains-turned-whatever-she-and-Chell-had-going-on in video games today.I will admit it might take a while to get used to the mechanics, and some people might have trouble with some puzzles because they can be complicated. But the story and fun gameplay is definitely worth it. It's one of the most memorable games I've played.

Portal 2 offers you more of the Portal you love and some new tech that feels right at home. In many ways, it's just more of the same (which is great!), but where Portal 2 differs from Portal is the storytelling. Portal 2 reveals a lot more lore through the game which makes it a bit more memorable in my opinion. If you liked Portal and somehow haven't played this already, you won't be disappointed.Updated 2 Months Ago

This game truly is the closest to a 100% score I can think of. It takes everything the first game did and expands on it in the best ways possible! The story keeps you on your toes and is so much more engaging and interesting. The puzzles are much more organic to the plot and are brilliant. The inclusion of new puzzle elements like the different goos and bridges and tractor beams add so much more variety outside of simply getting from point A to point B with your portals.
Just a triumph in every aspect and it makes you wish Valve made more actual games! Everything they create has essentially been a masterpiece and if they ever announced a new Portal or The Orange Box for Switch, I’d probably peepee in my little panties with joyful glee!

One of the best games I've ever played! The added characters of Cave Johnson and Wheatley were amazing and boosted my desire to replay this game. It improved on the writing of Portal 1 by insane amounts as well as the music (which was non-existent in the previous game) and also the puzzles! The last puzzle was rather brutal but it's rewarding when you get them right.Updated 3 Months Ago
