Mario returns and takes his next adventure into space. Follow him as he travels from planet to planet bending the rules of gravity. Players experience perspective shifts as they run upside down through alien worlds. Meet challenges like surfing on a ray in an ocean in the clouds, rolling a ball through a treacherous garden, or floating in a bubble over a poisonous swamp. Control Mario with the Wii Remote and use the Nunchuk to perform his special moves. A special co-op function allows a second player to collect star bits for Mario or take care of enemies in his way.
When focusing on the main objectives, Super Mario Galaxy is about 14 Hours in length. If you're a gamer that strives to see all aspects of the game, you are likely to spend around 36½ Hours to obtain 100% completion.

Right had my first session. Not put spoilers here as there not really anything to spoil:
got 14 stars in the second set of levels. Done the speedy comet in the first level and got 2 stars in the junk level
So I've completed Super Mario Odyssey and that now feels like a refined version of this game. Theres a few issues I have mainly with controls not always cooperating with the level design and the fact you lose your levels when you close the game but frankly that doesn't take away from how the game is designed
The levels are unique and well designed and the little planets in the game make for some rather fun and varied styles of levels and each level currently offers something unique to that level. They also don't overstay there welcome with them usually lasting about 10 mins per star and atm the max stars of 3. It def is having a great start.
I will admit though this is my third attempt with the game and the wii controls is not doing my hand any favors. I hope I can finish the game although not sure in this month when I'm only available for 1/2 of it

Right so made it to the ghost manor levels now. Bout 30 stars
I'm not enjoying the more gimmicky motion sensor games as I don't feel the movements registering correctly. This is probably just bad set up on the behalf of my Wii U. Luckily the only time I felt truly frustrated with it was during the spider boss in the junk yard where I had rearrange my cursor halfway in the fight and of course during this time was hit by it's poison.
I'll say this though was not expecting a haunted house level and rather enjoying the new power ups although I'm now feeling that the levels are a bit short and maybe could've been fleshed out a bit

This is one of my favorite games of all time, I've 100% twice (in a row) back in the day (the second time with Luigi). It's been a while.
So I've started to play it today and I've finished up the Terrace (but I believe some stars here get unlocked only as the game progresses, right?). I think I'm not qualified to talk about this game, I just find everything so perfect.
Moving around with Mario feels so polished and natural, the gravity physics are the cherry on top. I can see some people getting disorientated when going upside down, but it doesn't affect me (never gets old actually!).
Another thing that makes this game special (and my favorite Mario game) is the perfect balance between linearity and openness of the levels.
OST is perfect, the orchestral theme is magical.
Playing with Bee Mario today was so fun. It's a cliché thing to say, but this is 'the game' that makes me feel like a kid.

92 stars. Up to the dreadnought galaxy
Okay so I think I got a solid idea of the game. I'm not going to be able to finish this until before the end of the month due to my upcoming holiday. Overall though i'm really enjoying this game. Like I mentioned earlier I can see the foot prints that lead to the odyssey all over this game especially in it's excellent an unique levels. The use of small planets make up a lot of what makes this game unique as it allows for alot of new ideas to flow through and give a whole new feel to the platformer style games. It also works well with mixing different elements in other games to give a much needed twist for the game. The best example is the freezeflame level which mixes fire and ice together and while ice is still slippery you can easier start skating on the ice to speed up movement on the ice without many issues
The biggest issues I have are with the motion controls as I do find them rather fiddly and gimmicky at times and prefer not to do those sections. The controls also can get mixed up when perspective is changed which can lead to moving in the wrong direction and the camera controls are really poor but overall an excellent platformer

I beat this game a while back on the switch when the 3D all-stars port came out, and I overall really liked this game. Coming off of Odyssey, this game took a lot of getting used to with the somewhat fixed camera, and the bizarre planet shapes but once I figured it out, the game was really fun. My favorite galaxy was either the ghostly galaxy or Toy Time Galaxy. This is a fantastic game overall, and easily my second favorite 3D Mario game behind Odyssey.

Right back from my long holiday trip so back to the games.
I've now done all the garden levels with 103 stars. Got the hungry lumy to do and I think just the last level so hopefully done either tomorrow or the day after.
Not much else to offer found the dreadnought level kinda annoying and the molten level alright nothing too much to stand out in the later levels yet although the spotlight level was pretty good

Just completed the game with 105 stars. Rather enjoyed it but it definitely is showing it's ages especially with controlling it's camera. I'll write a full review at some point

Super Mario Galaxy
Completion July 04, 2022
Main+Extras 24h 03m 14s
Notes 105 stars
Review
+Unique take on the platformer with the use of different gravity effects for different planets
+Mixes up the different styles of platform level to offer something new
+Introduces new power ups and uses them effectively in multiple locations
-Control for the camera is extremely limited
-Motion control mini games were more of a pain to deal with then fun
-Controls can and do change dependent on where your standing which can cause confusion
Overview:
Super Mario Odyssey is a fantastic platformer that moved the genre on when it first came out with it’s new and unique levels and interesting ways of level design as well as mixing up the already existing tropes to make new feels to these levels (for example the ice level allowing you to skate instead of slip through the level. This level also was mixed together with the fire level so moving between the two types of environment). You can definitely see the choices here have moved forward in the games later on in the franchise. Unfortunately it is showing it’s age with it’s poor camera controls and gimmick motion controls showered through the game. Overall a fantastic game which has proved an inspirations for platformers since it’s release.
