It's nice :3 And in the accessibility i had to turn on auto rytyem parry, i like it a lot better this way bc after the samurai introduction gave me my first 4 game overs i realized i just cant remember or react that much that fast. It's been a pretty visually bland palace considering previous ones. But I'm one will seed and one treasure away! Almost have the latter. Ive been experimenting between hard and merciless difficulties, and with both i got a immediate game over (full health) on ambush. Hard is... hard, but on merciless its extra rewarding and punishing. Kind of a good balance! Ill try the boss on merciless and i might just stick with it if i dont get too frustrated.

Not really shitting my pants level scary but definitely pissing. Isolation is more like a act under crisis/pressure simulator than survival horror. The xenomorph doesnt give a fuck you gotta go to work in the morning, if you perform stupid its gonna fuck you up and keep you there for hours. Its super fun experimenting with different styles of avoiding the creature and fending it off. And the environments look gorgeous and very 1979 sci-fi.

My god. Ik newer kirbys got better hardware, graphics, sound, controls, animations, etc. But i gotta give credit to this games creativity. It feels so much less generic than post return to dreamland. Combining abilities is very interesting and having your freinds so involved in the plot is something i miss from older kirby. The levels all look really ✨️64 aesthetic✨️ and some pull off some neat camera angles. Also having kirbys anatomy change with the copy abilities instead of a hat is awesome.

The phantom thieves just found their next target. Im still waiting on this game to get difficult because i know when i switch it too hard itll get to be too much. Game difficulty like this sucks man. I just want the battles to be less braindead and more engaging, but i also want the devs intended vision. Its on me to measure this and its bullshit ofc i would rather get through this faster and not grind to prevent party wipes on normal encounters. Every battle rn just goes knock, all out attack, done.

This game fucks. Hard. Im pretty sure its developed up to the end of violence in act 3 and that's about where im at. Ive always been aware of complicated techs you can pull off, but looking into it tells me im playing the game mega wrong. So ill try a few and hopefully itll get me through the dark forest level im stuck on quick.

So a lot has happened, warrenting the gap in updates. A customer's dog bit me. It was a 70lb german shepard. The homeowner was pretty good about standing between us, but ig she stepped out when i got to the top of the stairs to come face to face with it. I was just like "hey buddy just gonna scooch past ya here-" and soon as i had my back turned it bit me on the back of my thigh. Almost shouted FUCK really loud before the lady came running and got back between us saying "omg r u ok? Shes never done anything like this before". Which like okay but if there was a possibility it shouldve been locked up in a room. idk what i thought maybe it was just nervous around strangers thats why she was keeping between us. But she was very polite and concerned when i went twords my truck she asked if i was sure i was okay and i was like ngl im gonna check and i did have a big ol puncture dripping blood down my leg. Everything was cool i wasnt even gonna go to the urgent care but my boss made me. Its all good now the homeowners are ok, dogs ok, and im ok. I bought that house tho! Boy at that foreclosure auction took 5 fucking minutes between the going once going twice shit. So its gonna need a lot of work but im so happy it worked out and after it closes i can get to work on it and could have it move in ready by January!

I went broke for the first time in this and its really making me dislike the gameplay. The best way to get money is sell drugs, but i dont have the cash to buy any. So you have to drive a taxi, ambulance, other gangs drug van, or play scratch offs. At any point in that process you can get arrested and loose literally all the little drugs and money you have. Idk it felt like i was stuck on this for like half an hour. Theres always a police chase going because its so easy to trigger on accident and then youre stuck trying to chase em off for however long it takes before you get up the road and hit another police car. Its a me problem; im unwilling to engage with the more obtuse mechanics and just want to brute force missions until i pass. May retire.

This is the best side scrolling shooter action platformer I've ever played. Fuck mega mans, fuck gunvolt, fuck metal slug. In terms of just gameplay this is peak. The limitations of the game boy only inspired these devs to pull off some insane shit. Idgaf about the story the game is that fun. If it were a less good game I'd have stopped at red's credits but I need more. I'm doing a second playthrough as blue!

(Progress | 31m / 2h 50m) So what i planned for this month is a bunch of really short games in my backlog and im gonna see how many i can get done. This game is so much faster paced than i remember its crazy. The legacy collection adds a lot of really cool features; including a beastiary(?), so i dont have to look online to remember the boss weaknesses. The rewind is pretty cool and unique in that its a lot more literal than nso. The music n shit reverses too, but its more spectical than efficient. Im not using it often so its not a big deal. I beat fireman, then iceman, then bombman, with gutsman next.

(Progress | 32h / 123h) Still waiting on maderames change of heart. Idk what breaks are gonna look like for this month yet. I didn't complete a lot of games in June, but im fine with that. Looking at my stats u can see the decline with busy season at work, so its not all P5Rs fault. Seeing the line go up is still fun tho.

(Progress | 6h 30m / 10h 9m) Since my steam deck runs a version of linux, the guide to enable dev mode is no help to me. The stealth gameplay tests my fucking patience on normal. Its not that all the gameplay sucks (a lot of its pretty interesting), but waiting for minutes to pass for a fucking freak to stop hovering around the door you need to go through is boring af. You cant switch to safe mode either without starting over so i cant do that. The story is one of the most compelling, interesting things ive ever witnessed and the game format adds a lot. I just wish it didnt suck.

Worked 64 hours last week so delayed post. Didn't quite meet my completion goal for the month, as ive been busting my ass at work. This month probably wont be different as im also on call july 4th-next weekend. JUNE 2024, DAYS 98-105:

Like with persona 5, doom 2016s a game i grew up hyped for knowing itd be great. And I had a hell of a time here. Doom's boomer shooter gameplay Is a little different from Wolfenstein's; here you're sliding all around the ground and air keeping the heat on the demons constantly, and in Wolfenstein your dodging the big guys to take out enough small ones to dual weild rain bullets later. Two things they share though is the amazing soundtrack that perfectly matches the action by mick gordon and kickass hd rumble. This is one of the only games i played with headphones on it was so good. It's not flawless though, the story's kinda lame with the characters are annoyingly present and for every cool hell level there's 2 meh sci fi levels. But im super hyped for doom eternal now i just gotta get through Wolfenstein ii new colossus and some buffer games to prevent fatigue. Review(wip)

I shouldn't have expected that big an improvement from Secret Rings, but i did. While the nunchuck makes moving a lot easier theres probably twice the amount of wiimote waggling as before with how often you have to swing the fucking sword. My wrist legit hurt completeing it all in two sittings sunday, even though it was only 3 hours (1h 30m to the first credits). But bc its so short id rather play it again if i had to over secret rings. And the ui/ menus were loads better. Review(wip)

I beat DOOM 2016 for the first time. I was 13(?) when the game came out and I remember having the promotional trading cards from gamestop I thought were really cool. I don't think I was allowed to play it back then, but lol no one gives a shit now so how was it? Fucking amazing. I'm older now so I can appreciate it a lot more without much nostalgia and I can totally see how it garnered all the praise it received. I started all the Id games from new order to here which makes new order* next then eternal. I hope the quality keeps going up cuz each ones better than the last and this was the best.

I was using this site nearly every day in '22, and then I started accumulating more pretty plastics for my shelf. I figured "Well having them is important but so is playing them to me." So I made an account to start cataloging my collection as well as what I need in my collection. My Wishlist is very handy when buying games and saves a lot of time wandering shops etc. And This setup is very efficient. Where in previous years I'd beat 5 or 6 games, In the past two years I've beat nearly 60!

Its cool how older games give all the enemy names in the credits. Had to beat one game this week and i was exited to play this on switch. Super solid mega man... with rewind. There were so many fuckin spikes thay kill you instantly it wouldve been a chore with how many game overs itdve caused. Other than that and a few game overs prevented from bosses i didnt need it that much. Sound effects, music, graphics, all thats really good for a gb game. I think its because it loads the level in many segments it can remember enemy placement, unlike Castlevania where it barely can with its larger areas. Challenging but a really fun like under 2 hour game. Review

Its funny, when i got the last weapon in the wheel i was like wtf no bfg, you get it like later the same mission as ur other special weapon. Im so happy whenever i enter hell amd theres no one talking to me. Its so fucking generic and idgaf about any of these bitches. Just lemme shoot demons. Other than mediocre story, some checkpoints send you too far back. One fight made me have to walk through a door id already been through just to trigger some demons spawning because the door right in front of a respawn was locked like there were still guys to shoot.

One of two games I played the last day of May with the intention to meet my quota. This took one sitting and looking back I'm more disappointed with it than right after completing. I like the levels. Dogfights are fun but so are the planets. Like one other review I read tho, the developers were a lot more comfortable working with the snes and it shows it's very technically impressive. review

• Castlevania Legends

The second game I tried to beat last day of may but I failed this one. Good enough time, I've always preferred older Castlevania playstyle. If I didnt have NSOs features tho I could easily see getting way frustrated at the bottomless pits and timer constraints. I didnt use rewind for much other deaths. Review

Knocked 6/7 games off my goal, but i cheesed it with Star Fox 2 bc it was 5 games yesterday and it was only 40 minutes. I also tried beating Castlevania Legends but couldn't in time. I feel a lot better about not meeting my goal now. I'm now only one game away from my yearly goal of 30. If i didnt get halfway through Castlevania, doom 2016 would've been number 30 for 2024. (Progress | 4h / 14h 37m) Keeping on ripping and tearing. The difficulties ramped up which im super greatful for stuff started getting too easy. I just got the super shotgun which it feels like its been a long time for a new gun, but im upgrading tf out of what i have and its really satisfying. Im going for just a really guns and explosions centered build, fuck scopes and gear. I gotta be near the end of kadinger sanctum btw im also loving the more open level design.

(Progress | 1h 30m / 11h 19m) Just got through a mission throwing boxes off a truck into another truck. I was supposed to be playing this a lot more but P5R has got me really addicted.

• New Super Mario Bros. Wii
(Progress | 1h 15m / 14h 45m) Me and ma fren started this on a whim late at night after finishing shrek. I finished this game probably 3 times with my siblings back in the day so its super nostalgic. It really makes me mad about mario wonders minimal multiplayer features. I stand by my score i gave it, but the game highs and the multiplayer highs are polar opposites between these titles. I freaking love how the camera zooms out, jumping off heads for platforming, picking up and throwing for spite, and standing/blocking in front of the other player. While its stupid it just feels more fun than one player leaving tge other in the dust bc they ran ahead and now their in a bubble again and again and again.

• Persona 5 Royal
(Progress | 9h / 123h) omfg the hype ive carried for all these years to finally start this game. The soundtrack ive been listening to since release and all the memes. It looks gorgeous on my oled switch and the gameplay holy shit. Idk if its bc my last rpg was super mario, but engaging every single mechanic makes me feel like 9000000 iq. Im vibing so well with the characters amd atmosphere its so hard not to get sucked in immediately if i just sit down with it for a minute. Ive neglected real life chores and food just to sink more time in p5. Not like actually but thats where i feel.

Howdy, I'm Fri. I've been on this website for a whole year now and I'm finding the format very helpful in clearing my backlog. I used to play video games intermittently, with old games being permanently set aside for new ones. But that hasn't been me for a while, and I plan on kicking all these games asses! Some info about me: my pronouns are they/them, Ive been a full-time residential HVAC service technician for over 3 years, I own 2 guitars, am 20 years old, and aspire to sometime soon start up my own homestead. This blog serves the purpose of documenting more free flow thoughts about things as i go through them, rather than just a written review after the end. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is always a blast, whether it be nostalgia, or just overall fun. It's the game that Sega simply had done right, and I truly wish that Sega will find that shine again someday. I can't put my finger on it, it's just so freaking good. I miss it almost every day and it's the biggest reason why I'm still fond of Sonic the Hedgehog to this day despite some of its recent poor releases.

Sonic 2 truly, I think, is gonna be the best example of sonics potential for a long time still. Sonic mania 2 would be really cool tho I didn't find superstars so offensive. Not at all close in quality tho.

I have such fond memories of GTA Chinatown Wars. It was my favorite GTA game until a month ago, when I completed GTA 4. It really exploits all the peculiar capabilities of the DS, and the drug-dealing minigame is almost... addicting. I'm glad to see someone else enjoying it.

Yeah my buddy links gta and cod with a very specific kind of person but likes this one. Ig it's cuz it's gta on the ds so it's quirky.

If sonic and the secret rings was the worst sonic, sonic 2 is the best in my memory. Its been sevral years since i beat mania but i remember it was really hard to get the will to sit down and beat it. It took me a very long time and i didnt care to do anything after the credits. After sonic 3 and knuckles i reckon ill revisit it. I will be skipping 4. Review

• Sonic Adventure

Sonic campaign only as main. Ive decided that the dreamcast version is superior as the models are better and it never crashed or glitched on me. This is a very comprehensive guide on all of the downgrades that occurs between sonic adventure and sadx. Not sure if i want to edit my review for after main+ i think ill just be general with it. Amazing game really loved it glad it held up to my memories of it. Review(wip)

Update:

This fucking boss fight kicked my ass. I could've had this game beat in 3 hours with all of the chaos emeralds, but here comes two fights with one-hit kills and no checkpoints. It's so artificially difficult and shouldn't have taken that long. Whatever though, it's an amazing game with just a shit boss at the end. So yeah Sonic. And I love Mecha Sonic/ Silver Sonic. It's a really good design and a clever fight that flips things on its head when you can only hit the front. Too bad you get sick of it after it just becomes a 30s chore to get to the Death Egg Robot that's just bullshit hitboxes that randomly kill you it seems.

• Sonic and the Secret Rings

I hope this is the worst sonic game i play. Beating Erazor Djinn the first time net me the first pair of credits. Ik its standard for sonic to have a true ending whenever you collect all the mcguffins, but this has gotta be the weirdes spot for credits ive seen by far. You beat the boss and he runs away. Credits. You dont save the world, return home, or lift ur curse; you just beat the boss some exposition credits. The true final boss was a massive headache that gave me carpal tunnel syndrome but i got em. That gave me a nice pair of cutscenes and the satisfaction ill never have to play this game again. Review

• Super Mario RPG

There wont be any post-game content played, as this game had its chance to be good with me. I know a lot of people really liked this game on the snes and i can see why based off the bones. This is the absolute bare minumum a remaster can do and sucks away any charm the original may have had. An absolute mind numbing chore and im glad its over. Review

(Progress | 23m / ) I actually played most of the way through the psp version of this game before and most of what i remember was how thinking cool the ds version mustve been. And gotta say, its way cooler. The dual screen implementation is one of the best ive seen and makes good use of the hardware. Most of the time the lighting, camera, graphics, and controls are super impressive. Really happy to be playing a good game now.

• Sonic the Hedgehog 2
(Progress | 47m / 3h) It was an easy decision to get all of the chaos emeralds for Sonic 2. Its exactly how i remember it man, this is where they fucking get it. 1 in retrospect didnt age that well, cd i played the first time and it was getting better, 2... nailed it. Level design and momentum are on point and im really appreciating the chaos emerald collecting with the origins plus collection letting you retry the special stages and how any checkpoint works as long as you have 50 rings. Im resetting a bunch, but i just need to math up how many checkpoints im aloud to skip before its too late i couldnt find any guide. But i could be wrong about all this sonic 1 and advance also had strong starts.

Gots myself a raise at work bc i am the shit. Now im pulling 50k a year before tax. My bank wont finance a mortgage on modulars or double wides which rules out a lot of my foreclosure options. There was an auction last week on a mostly finished place that i wasnt that interested in bc it was too far away, but jesus christ it sold for $350,000 and i was gonna offer $180,000 just because at that time highest was 125 and it wouldve been a steal. I also got to talk with the guy one on one who built/was selling it and he seemed pretty reasonable like i couldve haggled him a bit cuz he seemed to really like me and just needed to sell it for health shit. But whatever... like i said it was too far from shit anyway. In other news i successfully infiltrated the discord. So doing live updates on game progress has been a little helpful in writing for the reviews and this blog. I think ive been doing weekly updates for 2 months now. Its very enjoyable and makes me remember a lot more about the games i play and the times had doin shit.
