God of War (2018) is like a 20 hour multi-coursed fancy meal with each course being better than the last. This is especially apparent in the slow first course tutorial, but after that the gameplay and environments really hit their stride. The levels are a series of small to medium sized areas that are crammed with chests and eviromental puzzles you have to solve to progress. While you're adventuring, you'll be ambushed by many enimies. With your axe youll be: hacking, slashing, pounding, freezing, boomeranging, beyblading, AOEing, lunging, smacking, and more. Then theres the shield, rage, blades of chaos, and the boy which each have their own skill trees, runes, and builds. The awsome combat in God of War incentives exploration to get more runes for more moves to try out, hacksilver to upgrade your armor for better stats and more slots, etc. With plenty collectibles and secret bosses for those who seek to see 100% of this finely crafted world. The story and score are perfectly matched with the atmosphere of the Norse mythological setting. Both will be hitting you right in the feels multiple times. Each character is very well written with great voice acting. I found myself actually cheering them on and being disappointed (in a good way) with and for them so many times on their journey to take the boys mothers ashes to the highest peak. There's very little i didnt like about the game and it made me very hyped to play Ragnarok next.Updated 5 Months Ago
