Sonic and the Secret Rings

Playing Sonic and the Secret Rings, I had caught myself having some fun until another 15 seconds had passed and I was reminded how broken the game is. The game has a unique style and auto-runner gameplay that I believe could've been pulled off. But it's bogged down by all of the terrible level design decisions, bad controls, poor voice acting, barely serviceable ui, and disjointed story. Besides being a nightmare to play, the soundtrack (only 14 songs) and level+character models are alright. The biggest hurdle playing this game is just the motion controls. Just tilting the wii remote would've been fine, but having to shake the controller for near every action instead of a button is literally headache indicating. Before getting some ring upgrades late in the game, doing a homing attack will kill your momentum. Sonic takes a long time to reach max speed as well. Getting hit also, of course, kills your momentum. You get two special skills, both are mostly useless. Speed break makes you go really fast, but your not invincible and will often be hurt by using this. Time break slows the game down which isnt usefull at all until the first Erazor Djinn fight. I'd reccomended playing this entry in the abandoned Sonic Storybook series if you enjoy frustration and missed potential.Updated 3 Months Ago
