I've just found out about this: IGN Playlist
Considering that HLTB is owned by IGN (right?) and that there seems to be some feature overlap between the two sites... should we expect any sort of integration between them?
I'm asking it purely out of curiosity by the way!

Keep track of the games you are playing, wishlist upcoming releases, and view and log your own game time powered by HowLongToBeat.com
Presumably this is a synergy exercise which was probably the reason Ziff Davis bought HLTB. IGN gets a branded "social" site where most of the data side has been done, while HLTB should get a influx of new data from a wider audience. It might also exxplain some of the recent features/plans.
Edit: hours after I said this account wouldn’t be posting on the forum….

This looks like some kind of HLBT mobile app, but made by IGN. Seems to do pretty much the same stuff, but with some "social media" look and feel. Unfortunetly, there is no chance I will actually use this. I don't want to have to manage two different backlogs and two different platforms. It would have been nice if this had been an actualy HLBT app made by IGN, and not a new thing called "Playlist". Oh well...

But will be two different backlogs though? That is what I'm wondering, if the personal data will be shared between the websites in any way.

I've asked Everdred a bit about this on the Discord server a few weeks ago and it seems to be it's completely separate thing. The only thing they seem to be drawing from HLTB is the game times, according to what he said back then.
Looks like this is what IGN was "interviewing" HLTB users for at the beginning of the year. To get some info on their own idea.

I could actually see myself using this to create game playlists, while still using HLTB to manage my library, completions, etc. My one complaint with HLTB is the limit on custom lists, and IGN Playlist seems like an easy way to create and share custom game lists.

This is still true. There is a chance for a "Import HLTB" for Playlist in the future but no actual plans.
I can also confirm that the purchase of HLTB had nothing to do with the creation of Playlist.

Hi Ryan!
Will there be any public lists from the IGN crew? I'm a long-time listener of the Game Scoop podcast, it would be cool to see playlists from them.

What I'm wondering about most is: How do you accomodate for missing titles? Especially in an age where indie development is hugely active, what systems do you have in place so users can actually log everything they play?
Do you source your database from somewhere or do you curate your own? And if the latter applies, how much freedom do users have to add the obscure titles they're missing in your service and also prevent abuse/spam?

Yes! We plan on launching with a number of Playlists both new, and from the entire back catalog of the site, including IGN's top XX games for different platforms, and genres. We're also trying to do some Playlists that are associated with our weekly original shows.

Good question — We've got one of the best databases on the internet, but a lot of games that we've been unable to cover will either be missing or light on content. It's likely we'll need to handle missing information. We also spend some time this past year syncing our own database with HowLongToBeat, so hopefully we should have similar coverage out the gate.

We're having conversations about trying to set up some kind of account sync, but we've got nothing to announce at this time.

I hope we get that account sync, sometimes i'm not on my PC and honestly I don't like accessing the website in my phone.
