REMINDER: Xbox 360 store will close in less than three months!

Microsoft is closing the Xbox 360 Store in July 29, 2024, which now means you have a little less than three months to purchase any non-backwards compatible Xbox games before they're delisted for good.

I've been a little out of the Xbox loop. What are expectations regarding Xbox 360 achievements being discontinued?

I believe that there has been no mention of achievements being shut down. That will only happen when the online is fully shut down. The only thing you won't be able to do anymore will be to make transactions on digital games.

Highly agreed on this, many companies in the industry have been seeing how far they can go, closing stores and shutting down studios, demanding archival/preservation platforms like Vimm's take down their games, attempting to weasel ads into every experience, telling influencers that they're not allowed to be critical of games in the terms and conditions, claiming we should get used to not truly owning the digital games we buy, requiring us to store our information on their insecure servers to play their games. I could go on.

It's a great time to be a gamer with all of the options, old games that are so accessible, and upcoming releases, but they're protecting their bottom line above all else. How can we begin to protect ourselves?

Just want to post for anyone planning on buying things from the 360 store, you may want to wait. There's two sales that will be happening in June and July for select.

Also just bought all the halo games from the xbox 360 store. Hate hearing this but hopefully this will push for more preservation efforts.

No, no they do not.

It's sad because it's by far the most successful the Xbox brand ever was and will be. The 360 is my personal favourite console of all time. From the moment Xbox had that disaster showcase for the xbox one at E3 2013 it all went to hell.

no reason at all that the 360 marketplace cant be incorporated onto the current xbox store
but after spending 75 billion on acquisitions, i bet theyre real happy with the $5 theyll save monthly closing those servers
