No words for how unique this game is! This one of those games that visually and conceptually are inspiring me as a future game dev! The twists and turns are awesome and the gameplay is super fun!

The dialogue was funny and the gameplay was fun, but it got really repetitive at the end.

A very short linear repetitive story mode, with a pretty basic storyline that had some pretty decent comedy here and there. Otherwise it's mostly just text walking around and battling. The customization and battles are actually pretty fun, but can get old pretty quick. A decent little quick game, would like to try out the 2v2 multiplayer and first person mode eventually.

I rang in the new year by completing Custom Robo. I first saw this game at a friends house when I was a teenager. I remember thinking it looked like a fantastic concept. I did enjoy the game quite a bit. Unfortunately the game is dragged down by slow and uninteresting dialogue. The combat is too fast (a thirty percent decrease in speed would have allowed the systems in place to shine. And the characters cliche. I think I would have enjoyed Custom Robo as a teenager more.

When I first saw a clip of Custom Robo running all I could wonder was "what in the hell is going on in that game?!" The frantic action and typical Nintendo look can really be a turn off if you don't give it a chance. All it took was a couple of missile launches here and a point blank shotgun blast there and I was completely hooked. The story mode is extremely fun and you'll rack up victories and new equipment rather easily at first, but the opponents and arenas get very tough all of a sudden and you will notice the difference. I can't think of a game with a better two-player-only battle game modes.

This sudden jump in difficulty is another reason why CR is so addicting. You're thinking to yourself "I've just been kicking this game's robotic hide for 12 matches straight! Surely I can beat this green haired girl with bug eyes and her pink robot!"

This game takes the appealing elements of Pokemon, fighting games and sci-fiction and blends them together into one enjoyable gaming experience on the N64. This is the best Japan-only N64 game that I know of.
