Jane is really annoying and choices don't seem to matter all that much every choice about saving someone doesn't matter because the characters will end up dying anywaysUpdated 1 Year Ago

More fun than ep. 3, but still kinda weak. Characters are just kinda killed off, and quickly forgotten about, choices still don't make much of a difference, Kenny's character development is going backwards real fast, and that's the most you get. Aside from Jane, she's the best part of this. But, ends up being rather too similar to Molly from season 1. The opening is great, as are a few other scenes, but it started to get rather boring near the end, before leaving off on a rather good cliff-hanger. So in all, it's okay.Updated 3 Years Ago

This episode of Telltale's Walking Dead, entitled 'Amid The Ruins', is generally good, but it cannot escape one central fact: Commonly, after a brutal second act, the third act starts off slowly, and that's when there's something to hope for, such as saving the world or stopping the villain. In a world of nothing but bleak despair, this lull can last an entire episode, and in this case, it does. I can't say that this chapter is less clever than the others, but the entire episode feels desperate for things to happen. Half of the high-tension events feel forced into the story to prevent it from becoming too uneventful, and with the increased emphasis on dialogue sequences, you can almost feel the writer(s) desperately attempting to come up with more and more philosophical things to talk about. I was going to give this a slightly higher score, but looking back, I remembered that this episode also does one cardinal sin that I generally find unforgivable: It turns your heroes into outright villains without really morally justifying it, to the point where you're actually rooting against your own team when the climactic ending takes place. This, combined with the low energy make for a good but certainly-not-great entry to the series.Updated 3.5 Years Ago

+ Nice art style+ Great story
+ Great characters
- Pacing issues
+ Great ending though
+ Great voice acting
+ Great variety of choices and genuinely difficult ones too
- Still has technical hiccups like occasional freezes
+ Even the gameplay feels better since you can now hold R2 to move faster compared to season one, and the action sequences are much more involved and tense
+ The game harkening back to your choices, even from Season One, is fantastic

Pace feels rushed. Wish I had the option to kill a character I don't like out of spite.Updated 8 Years Ago

Another outstanding installment. This one felt a bit longer (which I don't think it really way), and once again you forced in to situations that weigh heavily on your mind that you need to make in seconds and deal with the situation. A part of me wants to go back and see what would have happened if I had done the opposite, but I've been on this save since Season 1 without doing that and I will continue on the path I've been heading.....although it has gotten a lot darker. Also, another cliffhanger?!

As ever, I’m confident in Telltale Games’ ability to tell a strong story and end it with panache, but Episode 4: Amid the Ruins is the weakest episode of The Walking Dead: Season 2. Despite its major changes -- both regarding Clementine as a character and the roles of those around her -- there are too many out-of-left-field events to build tension convincingly. I’m excited for the conclusion -- but I’m not in love with the way we got there.Updated 10 Years Ago
