Oh god the QTEs are so much worst then the first season iv played this season once before when it first came out but i fully forgot how little time the game gives you to react to things even just talking seems to be so much faster and some choices in the first season were pretty fast so that's saying something.

Also why is Clem so dumb in this calling out "hello" for no reason following a loud ass dog for no reason, leaving her gun on the sink like a dumb ass, leaving the shed even tho she would've been fine just waiting for morning, it was a dog bite it wasn't gonna kill her over night. How is she still alive when this is the dumb shit she does?

To be honest I actually considered giving the game an even lower score -- Considering my absolute love of the previous three parts of the story (that is, Episodes 4 & 5 and '400 Days'), the lack of enjoyment or compelling emotions in this chapter, the kick-off of Season 2, was pretty jarring. I cannot claim that I did not find numerous elements and moments to be either tense or compelling, if not both, but it is, of all 11 chapters of the first two Seasons, easily the weakest. The problem stems primarily from the fact that it tries to induce anger as much as despair, and while this is a novel take, the way the story plays this out is really rather poor. The primary example is the first ten minutes -- I will not spoil anything, but what little hope that was brilliantly built up at the end of Season 1 is completely gotten rid of, in a manner that appears to have been done simply to reduce all hopes for the sake of drama as quickly as possible. If anything, this chapter almost feels like it outright cheats to elicit an emotional response, and while it is effective overall, I can't help but shake my head at the cheap directions it takes to artificially ramp up the tension. At the very least, the new characters are well enough written, and the base elements in this game carry over to much, much better chapters later.

EDIT: Upon replay, while I still consider this probably the weakest of the initial 11 entries, I did enjoy it notably more the second time; most of my complaints stand and are just as strong, but certain things like the dialogue itself and some of the more atmospheric beats are legitimately well done, moreso than I gave credit for. I'll keep my rating, but I'll now re-address my initial statement, and say that this is far closer to a 70% than a 50% in terms of my rating.

+ Nice art style
+ Great story
+ Great characters
+ Tension is built up so well
+ Great voice acting
+ Great variety of choices and genuinely difficult ones too
- Still has technical hiccups like occasional freezes
+ Even the gameplay feels better since you can now hold R2 to move faster compared to season one, and the action sequences are much more involved and tense
+ The game harkening back to your choices, even from Season One, is fantastic

Similar to season 1. Either simpler or I've gotten used to it. Choices don't seem too hard.

It's good, but I either hate or am indifferent about the majority of the characters. Decisions feel like they have less weight when you don't care how people will respond to them. I've heard it improves as it goes on though.

The quality you would expect from Telltale. Season 2 starts off strong, tieing up lose ends from season 1 and establishing Clem with a new group of people. The gameplay has improved a bit with a more diverse offering of QTE's and dialogue choices.

Really good opening to the story, though not quite as impactful as the first episode of last season - or maybe I'm just a bit more jaded after everything we experienced with Lee. In any event, it was great to see Clem develop into a stronger character, one who has accepted that she must make hard choices to survive. It could have been a bit closer to 2 hours, but we'll see how the other installments play out. Looking forward to the next chapter.

I have to say I'm disappointed with the short episode length, but only because this is such a great series! Clementine's story is crafted around her age and circumstances based on last season's events. Your choices are subtely shown through the way she speaks and how she acts towards her new group, showing an improved ability to make your input matter. love it so far!

Episode one definitely has it’s high points, with the writers delivering several genuinely shocking moments, but in saying that, I definitely don’t feel as connected to the new cast of characters as I did with season one. Additionally, I am still kind of mixed on how I feel about the transition from Lee to Clementine as I find it awfully conflicting trying to make decisions from the perspective of someone I was previously tasked with taking care of. In my opinion, the established cast from 400 Days could have been used to more effectively bridge the seasons, and so, I was disappointed that none of those characters made an appearance. However, I kind of get the impression that this episode was mostly about weaning us away from our responsibilities as Lee and forcing us into an entirely new perspective. It might seem a little disjointed right now, but if the writers can push past the uncomfortable transition, this is exactly the type of radical thinking that can make a series great. No longer are we the protector, but instead a somewhat vulnerable girl trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world on our own. It could be the best thing to happen to The Walking Dead, or it could be a disaster. We will just have to wait as see.

The extremity of the content is a bit much in a few places for me personally. But nothing to over the top for a general audience of a zombie game.

Season 2’s premiere of The Walking Dead is predictable in good and bad ways — its character drama is strong, its technical prowess is not.

Clementine’s character development highlights the fact that she was a secondary character, someone to look out for, in the first season. Here, she’s come into her own, learned from the Lee Everett we knew more about, and is stronger than she’s ever been — both as a person and a story’s subject.

For now, Season 2’s meandering main story is too vague to be exciting right now, but if the writing so far is indicative of how Telltale will handle the remaining episodes, The Walking Dead could bottle lightning twice.
