That's a big part of why I like it too. The main reason I could never get into GTA was the controls though. I tried GTA 3, SA, and VC on PS2 and PC, with a controller and keyboard/mouse, and it just always felt wrong no matter what I did or changed the settings to. As soon as I picked up SR3, it instantly felt exactly like what I'd always wanted GTA to be, and then as everything kept getting goofier and more over the top than the last thing I did, I kept liking it more. It was some of the most fun I've had playing a game in the past year.

Saints Row, definitely. GTA4 was just... bad. Saints Row 2 is amazing for how campy it is. Saints Row 3 tried to ham it up and mostly succeeded, but some of the missions didn't feel all that creative. But Saints Row 4 looks like it's set to raise the bar for pure, high octane entertainment.

Of course, I haven't liked a Rockstar game since Bully, so that's probably just a personal bias. But GTA5's "guy gets sucked back into a life of violence" routine has already been played out before, and I'd much rather be the superpowered president of the United States who also fights extraterrestrials.

I've heard from several people that they liked the second game more than the third, which has me curious about it considering how much I liked SR3. I had always wanted to try it, but I kept putting it off until after SR3 was out and ended up playing that instead. The PC version is my only option at this point, which is supposed to be the worst port in the history of ever, which doesn't make me feel very optimistic about it.

Well, I've noticed that people that played SR2 first tend to like it more than SR3, but people who played SR3 first are more disappointed that SR2's not scripted to be as blatant as SR3. Either way, they're both excellent games.

I prefer GTA, I tried Saints Row and I just didn't like it for a myriad of reasons. Even the driving wasn't fun. You can run head on into a car and it will just be pushed aside and not even slow you down.

I can't compare them. GTA for a more realistic and serious story line experience and Saints Row for the balls to the wall fun and silly experience. Can't wait for GTA V and Saints Row 4!

I thought the driving was great in SR3, but it's been one of my biggest problems with the 3D GTA games (I wasn't thrilled with it in the 2D ones either, but they're so different they're almost irrelevant). I generally prefer arcade racer-style driving, whether it's Mario Kart or Burnout, but I also really like some more realistic games too, like Dirt. SR3 felt pretty satisfying to me, but the GTA3 trilogy of games always felt like I was trying to drive a boat or something. Honestly, if I'm not playing a driving sim, in an ideal world all in-game vehicles would feel as good as they do in Burnout Paradise, and SR3 was at least from the same school of design, if not quite as polished. If I had to pick the number one thing that prevented me from getting into the GTA games, it would be the driving, so I guess we just have opposite tastes when it comes to that aspect of things. Heh.

Love them both. Grand Theft Auto IV was one of my favorite games ever. Enjoyed the story and everything as a package. Saints row is hilarious and probably has more of a fun factor if you don't take it too serious.

I had never heard of Saint's Row until now, I pretty much live under a bridge, not really but no TV, and I don't catch many adds for up and coming games, I always check RPG news, but rarely hear of anything else unless one of my friends on FB tell me about it. I have played GTA3 (Xbox, PS2) Vice City (Xbox, PS2) Liberty City Stories (PSP, PS2) Vice City Stories (PSP, PS2) and San Andreas (PS2) I think Vice City was my favorite. I've never much liked the games, some things were entertaining, and it certainly was a good waste of time. Now I guess I will have to get a Saint's Row game eventually so as to compare them. Thank you for this thread as I now have something new to add to my wishlist.
