Yep!

I was looking at a pair of 3DO games at a used game story like... 17 years ago now. They were Demolition Man and Quarantine. Complete in the long boxes. I was a regular in the store and the owner already was giving me half off deals on old Atari 2600 cards to get them out of the store. When she saw me looking at the 3DO games, she asked me "Do you know what those games are for?" and I responded that I did. She then says "You're the only person who has looked at those since they came in. Go ahead and take them." So she just gave them to me for free. Still have them too. I pretty much play them every time I hook up one of my 3DOs.

Oh, how could I forget all of the games made by Digital Pictures? I love Night Trap. I love Double Switch. I love Corpse Killer. I love Ground Zero Texas. Those are some really neat games that have some neat ideas and use the limitations of the FMV genre really well. If you take the games for what they are rather than what they're not, you can have a great time with them.

I love the Onechanbara series. They're incredibly dumb but they know they're dumb and roll with it. It's shallow combat and prurient focus on the characters aren't anything to write home about but there's just something about the series that has clicked for me. It's like junk food or cigarettes, I know it's bad for me but I can't help it.

Would something like Late Shift, an interactive film, fit this criteria? If you're okay with Visual Novels (aka reading a book with choices), try 428: Shibuya Scramble. That one is amazing.

For what it's worth, I can't find a retired tab on my profile either. I should have two games attached to that list but it doesn't show.

Hey, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but it looks like Leisure is spelled wrong on the game stats page. It's spelled incorrectly spelled Leasure and it's driving me nuts lol.

A bunch of other people have mentioned Disco Elysium and it's well-worth mentioning again. It's probably the best story I've ever experienced in a game.

If you're willing to go a long time back, Star Control II has an excellent story with a lot of lore dumps if you're into that kind of thing. Still one of my favorite games.

If you're into third-person shooters, Spec Ops The Line had a really acclaimed story too.
