Holiday Gaming!

Given the time of year, thought it might be fun to share any gaming related holiday traditions that we might all have. Of course, not everyone celebrates the same holidays, so feel free to include any holiday that applies to you - are there games that you always play, or do your family and friends have certain games you like to play together?

For me, Xmas afternoon usually ends up with my immediate family playing some kind of quiz show together. It used to be Buzz! Quiz World, but recently we've been playing Knowledge Is Power as well.

I also like to play multiplayer games with seasonal events, like the Winter Wonderland event in Overwatch, or MMOs like Guild Wars 2 have special seasonal items to collect. It's a fun way to change things up and celebrate the holidays!

When my brother lived next door we'd play SNES games. Usually at least one Donkey Kong Country game. But now that he moved, it is pretty much just any other time, so I don't do anything particular. A few months ago I thought about getting into Dead Rising 4 at the beginning of December because of its Christmas theme, but I ended up forgetting about it and it is a little late now. IIRC, Batman Arkham Origins is set on Christmas Eve. The first Max Payne also has a winter setting.

I started playing Dead Rising 4 last year a couple of days before christmas, not even knowing it was in that theme.

This year I'm deliberately playing D2, because of all the snow in it.

gotta admit, I never associate snow with Xmas or this time of year because it's always summer in Australia and usually quite hot! =)
need to find something like a holiday themed version of Mad Max or something...

This year I'm pretty much screwd, since I have to take exams starting tomorrow, so I have to study a lot, away from home :(
I don't really have gaming realted holiday traditions, since what we do pretty much depends in who goes to my parents' house. Maybe we'll play mariokart, smash, monopoly, or we just eat and chill until midnight. At midnight we usually exchange presents, and after that everyone is free to do what they want.

How is Knowledge Is Power compared to Buzz! Quiz World? We used to play it very often with my family when I was younger, and I've been looking for similar games lately, as no more Buzz games are released. Heard about Knowledge Is Power a few days ago, and I was wondering if it is as fun?

it's actually a lot of fun - a lot better than I thought it would be =)
by comparison, we're not really into the Jackbox games, because the humour is pretty on the nose, but Knowledge is Power has a lot of diverse questions and is easy to play some short/fun rounds!

would definitely say give it a go if you're into the Buzz games... it's different, but a similar kind of fun

Me and my dad play mario kart 8 deluxe all the time. Me and my cousin are big UFC fans so we love playing UFC 3 whenever we’re together. I also just got Smash Bros Ultimate and Super Mario Party so I’m excited to play that with my family!
