I found a similar thread on MVGL and found it interesting! What are some popular franchises/games that you just cannot get into? You can share why too! Some for me would be Pokémon, Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, and Kid Icarus...

The Last of Us, Halo, every Call of Duty after Modern Warfare 3, Counter-Strike Global Offensive, just off the top of my head.

I've given a fair crack at, but never really gotten into God of War, Metal Gear Solid, 2D Sonic, Last of Us (One game so far, but soon to be a series so I guess it counts), Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy (going to give it another go at some point soon...ish), Fire Emblem and Mega Man. Theres probably more, but these are ones that stand out for me.

I don't enjoy Mario games that much. I did play Super Mario Odyssey, but only liked the last few stages (and is really different from other Mario games). I may give the other games a try... eventually.

Someone just wants me to say again how much I hate Max Payne 3 and think it's worst game of all time. ;D

GTA, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Mario, Far Cry, Bayonetta, Vanquish, Metal Gear Solid, Battlefield, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy.
I don't want to go full negative so I won't explain why.

I only like Mario RPGs and even find those a tad cheesy. But I can't stand the platformers! I totally feel you!

Fortnite. I like the design. I like to watch streamers play it. I like its approach with its season pass. Playing it though is just not my cup of tea. I enjoy every aspect of it, except the building, which is its main draw and separates itself from other Battle Royale games. I think the building ruins the flow of the gunfight, when you can just build a wall in front of you. It remind me of the armor lock ability from Halo Reach, which also ruined the flow of combat

I haven't played the RPGs, but I'm enjoying Mario+Rabbids. But I see your point, the platformers aren't my thing either.

Final Fantasy, Mortal Kombat, Pokemon, Gran Turismo, The Sims, Mega Man, pretty much any sports title. I have the most experience with Gran Turismo, Mega Man, and Mortal Kombat. Tried each series a fair amount growing up, and just never got into them as much as all my friends. The little bit of Final Fantasy and Sims that I tried bored me death. I actively dislike everything about Pokemon. It was huge when I was growing up in the 90's, and I just did not understand it. I found it incredibly annoying.

Here's where I piss off some people again. I don't like Devil May Cry. Both of the games that I played were really dull and not aged well. Looking back on it, I probably only liked DMC2 because it had more variety then 1, but I have a feeling that if I went back to it, I wouldn't like it as much or at all. I also don't care much for Shadow of the Colossus. It took everything that was endearing about Ico away and put in an empty field with small fruit and lizards as side quests. The boss fights are cool, but that's all the game has going for it. Lastly, Metal Gear Solid 3. I've seen new players go into the game and finish it with no problems. I went into it and found it trash. The game turned me off of the whole Metal Gear series due to how I absolutely hated it. I've been on multiple hour long rants of every bit I don't like about this game. I just don't understand why this is considered the "best" while MGS2 is considered the "worst" while MGS2 is miles ahead of MGS3. I'd even take Ghost Babel and Ac!d over MGS3.

Metal Gear Solid, the whole series.

I didn't dislike Red Dead Redemption but I have almost no interest in a second one.

Didn't like GTA once it got all "serious" starting with 4.

I've never played any Zelda games, Final Fantasy games, Kirby, Metroid Prime, Megaman, Devil May CrymMonster Hunter because *most* of those don't interest me.

I've only beaten one Mario game and I only like the 3D ones (64, Galaxy, and Odyssey). I also wanna get into Castelvaynia but just haven't.

I hate Bioshock Infinite and Fallout 4 a lot though for games that I fully finished.

Call of Duty Franchise has always been shit, Battlefield is following the same path, Halo has become so redundant, basically any new title that comes out for Xbox/PS4 is garbage at this point except for a few decent games a year.

For more classic games I would say I never liked Spyro as a kid for some reason, Fighting games are fun in an arcade, but not to play over and over at home and I have to agree that WoW was and always will be terrible. Instead I used to trim armour on Runescape in elementry school, I still remember how if anyone needs their armour trimmed.

Well... I dislike everything related to Pokemon, there are just a few games in Super Mario series that interest me, I tried to like Kingdom Heart but didn't work and other series like Megaman and Castlevania never called too much my attention.

Despite Earthbound being one of my favorite games and loving RPGs in general.. Mother 3 just bored me, I used to hate it, now I'm kinda just alright with it. But it just never clicked. I kinda feel the same towards Majora's Mask. Banjo Kazooie I just found massively slow and tedious, and felt like a chore compared to any other collectathon, but the music is alright and the levels are somewhat charming. But most of the games I see the positives but nothing about them are very fun to me

Ah yes Earthbound. I beat Earthbound a few years ago, after hearing so much hoopla over it, with it being considered to be one of the best JRPG's, and it was quite the let down for me, and it may be because it aged poorly, but I also thought the story was nothing to write home about, and the characters were forgettable, and I just didn't care about anything going on within the game. Which is quite the shame, because I went into the game wanting to love it, and as I went deeper and deeper into the game, that thought process quickly changed, and I simply just wanted the game to end so I could move on from it. Earthbound came out after Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6 which are in the JRPG Pantheon (which by the way are still fantastic playthroughs to this day), and this game doesn't even come close in terms of quality when compared to the two.

Sure, the game has an unusual setting when compared to most JRPG's and the music was decent, but that's really it all has going for it. With that being said, it is probably the most overrated game that I have played and I believe I gave it a 4/10

I understand that about Earthbound.. I mainly like it because of the dialogue, it's so wacky and charming and fun.. And no matter how many times I play it I find something new about it that makes me laugh. The story is meh, yeah, and I guess if you compare it to FF6 and Chrono Trigger you're bound to be dissapointed, but yeah, I mainly love it for it's music and dialogue and it makes it a pretty enjoyable experience the whole way through. And despite it being simplistic gameplay I found it more fun gameplay wise than Chrono Trigger, which I honestly felt like was just spamming X-Strike the entire time, but idk, I managed to get through that game in a weird way.

I can totally understand why it's not loved by everyone, and I struggle to even say why I love it so much myself.. since it's lacking in some ways.

What does disliking something out of virtue even mean? I don't think I've ever heard such a saying before.

As for popular games I dislike the biggest one would be GTA V and most other GTA games, though I quite liked San Andreas atleast what little I played of it, I've never cared about any of the characters or stories in GTA games, they just don't interest me. Also Kingdom Hearts, the mish mash of Disney and Final Fantasy just doesn't work as far as I'm concerned, it's just so incredibly silly and undermines any attempt the games make at being serious. Other than these two I can't remember any others off the top of my head.

I can't stand Metal Gear Solid 2, and I'm not a fan of other Kojima games.
And I'm forcing myself to complete Super Mario World, but honestly, I'm not enjoying it at all.
About Earthbound, I think it's a game that has to be played, and I'm glad I did it. It has nice dialogue, but some things about its battle system made me hate it at times (the enemies that explode just after beating them, for example).

Dragon ball fighterZ.

I don't watch anime at all, and I have no interest in the game. And apparently I'm asocial now since I don't want to waste my weekends playing dragon ball while talking about dragon ball (and other anime). I'd rather find new friends who have more than one interest in life than waste my weekends playing that game.
