Best: Probably Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It's my second CoD game ever and I was expecting to absolutely hate it, since CoD3 lost my attention pretty fast. Mixed with the fact that it was the Reflex Edition AKA the Wii version, I went in expecting to give up on it pretty fast and have another game challenge entry done (Something I con't force myself to finish). Long story short, that didn't happen. It's a pretty well made game with a goodish story and well tuned controls. Not the best way to play the game I would assume, but I would suggest giving it a shot.

Worst: Goldeneye 64. It has not aged well at all. The down side to playing all of these newer FPS games is that you can see all the cracks and flaws in the game. All the glitches and bad AI for Natalya. Hell, the only reason I beat the jungle level was that I lost Natalya some where in the level, probably stuck behind a tree at the beginning of the level. I don't know, I didn't look too hard. The Wii game was so much better. I can admire that this was a turning point in gaming, but there is a reason that the Wii version reimagined the game instead of just porting it as is with better graphics.

I now fully realise that taking care of a house as well as a four year old kid is keeping me busy. I haven't completed a single game in almost three full months. I mean, I've been playing Phantom Hourglass (a 20-25 hour game) for that long ?! Damn ! I've been playing Mario Kart 8 here and there, but I really want to complete Zelda soon... Last time I played, I reached Mutoh's Temple. From what I understand, that's where I'll get the last Pure Metal. So my guess is that I'm headed towards the last section of the game.

I only finished Shin Megumi Tensai: Digital Devil Saga this month, but I should finish Chrono Trigger in the next day or two.

Digital Devil Saga really got grueling in the end in terms of just being over the amount of encounters and shitty RNG that just destroyed me, but still a really good game. Final boss was super tough, but the long grueling battle felt rewarding.

July:
02 - Xanadu Next (PC)
10 - Sonic CD (PC)
11 - E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy (PC)
12 - Final Fantasy VI (SNES)
15 - inFAMOUS: Second Son (PS4)
20 - Nine Parchments (PC)
25 - Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter (with First Encounter missions) (PC)
29 - Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood (PC)
31 - Final Fantasy VIII (PS1) (technically it was already 2:30am on the 1st when I finished it, but I'm still going to sneak it with July's games)

An excellent month for me, considering I also picked up FF14 again and been playing it quite a lot again. Highlights and recommendations this month go to Xanadu Next, Sonic CD, Nine Parchments and FF8. Stormblood was very good as well, of course, but I find it difficult to recommend simply because it's a game you need to keep paying to play.

A word of warning for Nine Parchments though (on PC of course), even though it really is a good game. First of all, you start with only two characters and you can't change them mid campaign if you unlock a new one, not even their costumes, which is just silly. But definitely the most baffling thing is that when you play multiplayer online, you can only create a private game once. What this means is that when you create a new game, you can make it so that only your friends can join. But if you then stop playing and load a saved game later, it's forced into a public game with no way to change it back. So any random player can join in whenever and the game is also pretty bad at telling you someone joined if you're not paying attention. Once we had a player join in and log out shortly after and we only saw the message for an unknown player leaving the game. Apparently it was even worse at launch, because you couldn't even kick players if they were being trolls or simply didn't want them to play with you.

Just two games this month:
- Reigns: Her Majesty - 1h 26m - July 04th
- Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk - 26h 39m - July 19th

A good month on Quality, a bit poor in quantity

This month was a bit crazy on the real life realm, and it doesn't help at all that I kept jumping around between various games an barely finishing any. At least it will be easier to complete a good amount of games in August, as long as life doesn't go bonkers again

Saints Row IV
Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped (remaster)
CAT Interstellar
Grim Dawn
Dust An Elysian Tale
Hatred

Favorite was probably Grim Dawn only because of my Co-Op Experience, Dust is an absolute masterpiece though.
Saints Row was good as well, Crash was my favorite of the original trilogy so it was nice finally playing the remaster, CAT was a walking simulator.

Hatred was pretty bad.

A bit of a slow month.

Stories: The Path Of Destinies - PC - July 04
Overlord II - PC - July 11
Mafia III - PC - July 20
Jetpac - Xbox One - July 26
Mafia III - Sign of the Times - PC - July 29
Mortal Kombat (1992) - PC - July 30
Viscera Cleanup Detail: Santa's Rampage - PC - July 31

High: Stories: The Path Of Destinies and Overlord II. Overlord II is a lot of fun and Rhianna Pratchett's writing is ace as always. Stories is also quite fun though the combat does get a tad repetitive.

Low: Probably Jetpac simply because of how old it is. It's not a terrible game and it's fun enough for a while if you get used to the controls.

Rocket League - Bought this finally at Steam summer sale, its a fun game. I love football so its pretty similar in how you think about your position and the ball. I played a season against AI and a lot of online matches. Will continue playing it casually.

Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance HD - last piece of the puzzle in KH before the third game comes early 2019. They introduced Pokémon like monsters in this one, hit and miss with that. A couple of new worlds was refreshing, and its fun to play both Sora and Riku. Some new parkour elements too it also. But the story from it could easily have been in the new third game I think, I hope the padding stop and that the third game really delivers.

Distraint (Deluxe Edition) - Soft 2D-horror where you play a pretty depressed guy who kinda hates his job. Its pretty dark, weird and twisted. Short game and I 100% it.

July 8 Azure Striker Gunvolt (3DS) N/A
July 12 3D Sonic The Hedgehog (3DS) N/A
July 14 Boxboy (3DS) N/A

Azure Striker Gunvolt I'm kind of mixed, I'm not really a Megaman person. I didn't mind it for the most part but those final boss fights annoyed me. Maybe it was me or how I played it but I thought it was a bit chaotic on screen, the Flashfield attack being the main cause. Issues: Already mentioned.

3D Sonic The Hedgehog It's funny, I tried playing the genesis version a year ago and I just wasn't feeling it but I didn't mind playing this. Having the spin dash does help. Issues: labyrinth, bonus stages, With some bosses if you die they won't give you any extra rings (meaning you have zero), and it has a lives system.

Boxboy I like it. The art is a bit basic but it's nice and very clean. I think it's a good game not too sure what else to say. Issues: I know that if you want hints you need to spend playcoins which I think is dumb because the 3DS handheld console not a freaking pedometer.

Well... I prefer 1st one no doubt cause it was more level based platforming game while second one are about missions in hub areas. Few of them still play like first game, but are overall shorter. I would say that Sly 2 is like Assassin's Creed, but better and with much more variety. Overall nice game which can be easily played. I see that most people think that 2nd is best Sly game

I agree, Sly 2 is less linear but overall the best in the series IMO. If you enjoyed the first then play 2, skip 3, and play Thieves in Time (4).

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (3DS) - I can see why this is considered one of the greatest games of all time. I had a really good time with it, but I still think Majora's Mask is better. 9/10

Max Payne (PS2) - Pretty awesome for the most part. Killing enemies in bullet time feels good, the graphic novel cutscenes look great, the voice acting fits the characters almost perfectly, and the story, while cliche, is enjoyable. Unfortunately, it has a handful of problems. Occasional slowdowns, the pain-in-the-ass dream/nightmare sequences, and constantly getting killed by off-screen enemies towards the end of the game kept me from enjoying it as much as I would've liked. Still a pretty cool game, it just hasn't aged that gracefully. 7.5/10

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams (Wii) - Not really sure how to describe this game, honestly. All I know is I enjoyed it and I wish Sonic Team would make a sequel. 8/10

Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3) - I knew I'd like this game since Insomniac are one of my favorite developers, but I didn't expect it to be as good as it is. I spent a whole day playing through this game and didn't get bored at all. It has a great balance of fun and challenge, the enemies have cool designs and are fun to fight, and I didn't run into any technical issues, which is surprising considering this was a PS3 launch title. Looking forward to playing the sequels now. 9/10

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (PSP) - I'm not sure why this game gets so much shit. The camera can be a bit finicky at times, but otherwise it's great. The gameplay feels just as good as that of Snake Eater and Guns of the Patriots, the boss fights in particular being highlights, the hand-drawn comic book-style cutscenes are fantastic, and the appearances of certain key characters from earlier games is a nice addition. For a Metal Gear game on the PSP, it's surprising that this game is as good as it is. 8.5/10

Viewtiful Joe (GameCube) - I like this game quite a bit, but I wish I liked it more. I started on the "Adults" difficulty and wasn't expecting it to be as hard as it was. I made it all the way to the final level and after several failed attempts, I got fed up and started a new game on the "Kids" difficulty. That made me enjoy the game less, but despite my frustrations, I still think it's pretty good. The combat feels good and the VFX powers make it better, I'm a sucker for the cel-shaded art style, and it's just more of the weird, dumb, over-the-top stuff I enjoy about Platinum/Clover games. 7.5/10

Assault Gunners HD Edition (Switch) - It's alright, but it's got some annoying problems. The other members of your team never feel like they're on the same level as you and start dying early into the later missions constantly, even if they have all the same upgrades as you. I also got killed from enemy fire going through walls a handful of times. Also, none of the weapons feel like they have any real impact. Not a great game by any means, I still somewhat enjoyed it for what it is. 6.5/10

Deadpool (PS4) - It kinda feels like it was rushed and some content didn't make it into the full game, and the combat can get a bit repetitive, but it's pure mindless fun with a lot of good humor thrown in. Glad I managed to pick this up for just $20. 7.5/10

It warms my heart when people show some love for Resistance games, especially the original, it may have been the last good console exclusive FPS really, I believe you'll like the sequels as well. But you honestly picked the worst Max Payne port, it's meant to be played on PC, I agree on the nightmare sequences being annoying though. If it's possible, do the sequel on PC as it's a major improvement in everything the first was bad / mediocre at (except the story delivery and length, that is).
