High: Quantum Break and AER: Memories of Old. Quantum Break is a really good time travel story, and I usually don't really like time travel stories, and AER is just really pretty.

Low: Batman: Arkham City - Harley Quinn's Revenge, it doesn't really add anything to the story.

Now that I'm on my summer break I've been able to complete some more games than I had been able to the past couple months (I also noticed all of my completions are within a five day period).

5/18 - Half-Life (PC) - 15h
5/20 - Donkey Kong Country (SNES) - 8h 34m
5/21 - Shadow of the Colossus (2018) (PS4) - 9h 58m
5/21 - Star Fox (SNES) -1h 46m
5/23 - Ratchet and Clank (PS2) - 14h 40m

I enjoyed all of them but my favorite this month was Shadow of the Colossus, which I really enjoyed and had been wanting to play for awhile now.

Huniepop (PC)

A strange month for me due to the HLTB 2018 gaming challenge, as half of those games are completely out of my comfort zone. Hatoful Boyfriend was the only one I really disliked though. Huniepop was a HUGE surprise. The gameplay is actually pretty deep and addictive.

The 3rd Birthday. The gameplay was the most fun for a portable shooter, if I'm not mistaken, probably the best shooter ever released on the PSP.

Resistance: Retribution is very well liked. You should give it a shot.

Not counting replays, it's a little disappointing.
05-04
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon
05-05
Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back (PS4)
05-20
Fl!p's Twisted World (Wii)
Ratchet & Clank (2016) (PS4)

Replays:
Metroid: Other M
Metroid Fusion
Super Mario Galaxy
Sonic Colors
killer7

Best: Ratchet & Clank (2016). This is a great way make a remake. Have the game take simaler levels but have different touches to make veterans experience something new.

Worst: Fl!p's Twisted World. Everything I read about the game said that it was a "Bad Mario Galaxy rip-off," but that's not quite right. It's not designed like that game, it's doesn't play like that game, it not a collectathon like that game, and it's nothing like that game. It's a very boring game with a pretty good gimmick. I could probably beat it in a day, but I just could not stay awake to play more then a world a day. At lest the final boss is kinda cool.... kinda.

Biggest Surprise: Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back. I'm not going to sit here and say that it's a surprise hit and everyone needs to play it. It's still really bad, but after I got done with it, I had the thought that I had fun and could play this again. I guess I found a new guilty pleasure.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PlayStation 3) - May 27, 2018 - 5h 56m - Hard Difficulty. All Treasures collected and nearly all Medals done from a previous playthrough. - REPLAY
Dead Space (Xbox 360) - May 28, 2018 - 10h 31m - Normal Difficulty. Got at least 150 Logs.

Only two games, because I wasn't able to play for the entire month because my TV broke so I needed to send it for repair and it took a while before I got it back.
So I expect more games done next month.
Still, both of those games were great.

Stories: The Path Of Destinies Got this for free. A Bastion-like game where you control a hero and there is a narrator along the way. You make choices and get different endings, however there is one "true ending" so you need to replay the game and make different choices. It's kinda short and not executed well enough, combat gets a little stale. But charming graphics and pretty well storytelling.

Yet Another Zombie Defense Got it for free. A very basic, shoot zombies and survive. It's multiplayer but it's very basic. Almost like a students project. Played it 1 hour maybe.

Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage The teaser for how KH III will look like? Short but fun. Even though the story parts are a bit forced now with all of these "side games" in the series.

Rusty Lake: Roots - A weird almost Lovecraftian puzzle game. Pretty easy but disturbing lol.

Mega Man 10 Retro old-school at its best. A bit easier then 9 which I liked actually.

Mega Man 9 Could be the hardest Mega Man game? Took me a while to beat this.

14/05 - Uncharted: Golden Abyss (PS Vita)
15/05 - Fallout 3 (PC)
19/05 - Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China (PC)
26/05 - Skylanders Swap Force (PS4)
26/05 - Skylanders Spyro's Adventure (PS3)

Best: Fallout 3. Went from not caring about this a whole lot to loving it for reasons I'm still trying to understand!

Worst: Skylanders SA. While the series got better over time, it's unfortunately one of those franchises there's very little benefit in playing the older games.

May 12 The 3rd Birthday (PSP) 8H 54M Normal
May 28 Sonic Generations (3DS) N/A

The 3rd Birthday I might replay it sometime to see if ng+ gives me a better opinion but no weapon felt particularly good to me. Also late game it felt overdive kill beat high damage anti twisted weapons unless I stuffed up somewhere. Issues: Story is trash, camera can cause issues with some weapons since you want to get some distance and aim and Aya decides to turn the wrong way to aim, run faster Aya, and re rolling DNA chips so you actually level up a skill you want instead of at times leveling down both skills is a chore.

Sonic Generations I didn't enjoy the later levels much but I'm glad I had an alright time overall. Issues: I didn't find the racing boss battles enjoyable, for me modern Sonic running without boosting generally lead to "hey there's an enem-" *rings scattering noise*, and there's a lives system.

18 - Sacred 2
21 - Sam & Max 201: Ice Station Santa
21 - Sam & Max 202: Moai Better Blues
22 - Sam & Max 203: Night of the Raving Dead
23 - Sam & Max 204: Chariots of the Dogs
24 - Sam & Max 205: What's New, Beelzebub?

The Best - Hard to say really. Probably Sam & Max 203 or 204. None of them stand out that much particularly though

The Worst - Sacred 2. It's much improved from Sacred 1 but it's so exhaustingly expansive with its map, quests, and most of it just isn't worth engaging with. The difficulty spikes all over the place, getting gear is a chore, I ended up so bored I just didn't feel like exploring the expansion areas from Ice & Blood. I think part of the problem is I'm starting to realise that I just don't care much for the Diablo clone hack n' slash genre any more and this did nothing to change my mind on the matter.

The Rest - The other Sam & Max entries are fine, though really starting to show their age and lost their forgiving charm from Season 1. Some really rough audio and basic texturing / modelling start to detract from the experience. They are still generally fun to explore and solve but they aren't anything special.

This month felt a little slow, but now June is going to be crazy for me.

659. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions - 5/1 [8/10]
660. Tacoma - 5/6 [9/10]
661. A Robot Named Fight! - 5/6 [9/10]
662. Destiny 2 - Expansion II: Warmind - 5/8 [8/10]
663. Beat Saber - 5/13 [9/10]
664. Spaceplan - 5/14 [7/10]
665. Bit.Trip Runner - 5/19 [7/10]
666. Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien - 5/23 [10/10]
667. Detroit: Become Human - 5/27 [8/10]

Best: Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien is an amazing rhythm game. Not only is it one of the more creative games I've ever played, but all of its levels are very well designed, the music you're sort of making as you go through the levels is fun to listen to, and 100%ing it is a blast. The only complaint I have is that it's a little too easy overall. It's a shame that Runner3 doesn't live up to it in my opinion.

I also want to give a shout-out to Beat Saber. While the early access games is a little bare-bones, it does provide the framework for the greatest rhythm game available in VR by far. Check it out, and if you really get into it, then check out the custom track community. It's really thriving right now, and great tracks are constantly being pumped out. I blame Beat Saber for at least one game completion being missing this month.

Worst: Spaceplan just wasn't for me. If you're looking for a clicker, this would be an excellent choice. Unfortunately for me, I guess I just wasn't in the mood when I played it. I didn't find the writing all that funny, and the unique mechanics didn't really serve to make the clicker genre any more interesting or at least enough interesting to help me enjoy it any more. It also felt as though the pacing was a bit out of whack for what they were going for. That said, I can totally see why it would be great for a lot of players and definitely recommend that anyone looking for a clicker check it out.

Looking forward to Budget Cuts (if it doesn't get delayed AGAIN), Vampyr, Mario Tennis Aces, 100% completing Runner3, trying out Full Metal Furies, and playing Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon and West of Loathing this month.

I still haven't picked up FF14 again and it shows.

May:
05 - Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge (GB)
10 - Fallout 3 + Anchorage, Outlook and Broken Steel (PC)
11 - Fallout (PC)
13 - Wario World (GC)
15 - Curse of Monkey Island (PC)
22 - Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (PS4)
23 - Fallout New Vegas: Honest Hearts & Old World Blues (PC)
25 - Ys III: Wanderers from Ys (NES)

Lots of great games this month. Pretty much the only game I really don't care about is Fallout 3. I just don't like it. I think the shooting's terrible, the intro is too long and very boring and there are way too many metro tunnels that look exactly the same. Afterwards I played New Vegas again and it was immediately a much better game and a game I can return to, even after 200+ hours.

But definitely the highlight of the month was Curse of Monkey Island. I've been wanting to replay it for years and years. I think the last time I've played it was back in 2007. So glad it's now on GOG and Steam. It's also surprisingly playable without a guide, although I do have to admit that I remembered a lot of the puzzles from when I last played the game. It has a great artstyle, good voice acting, interesting locations and good puzzles. Definitely recommend playing on Mega Monkey difficulty, which increases the amount of puzzles you get. On normal, some of them are already solved for you, or you can skip some steps.
