To get the comparisons out of the way, i thought the main villain was better in 1 (Palethorn is a wet fart of a villain). the music in 1 is better (though 2 for sure has bangers). and the overall journey in one was better. That being said medievil 2 is still a fuckin ace game that I'd probably still put in A tier. I think the Victorian setting this time around is dope and a lot of the levels are cool as fuck. The puzzles this time around are also really fun and inventive. The balance is obviously more difficult than 1 which is pretty fun as it made me play a bit smarter than I would've. The only real complaints I got from medievil 2 as its own game would be that the emphasis on platforming doesn't work when the platforming is bad (camera controls & slippery movement), and that the main villains just didn't do anything for me this time around. At least with Zarok he was this fucking disgusting ps1 CGI jester taunting your ass. Otherwise yeah, a solid sequel and great game. (medievil 1 is still the goat for me though).Gameplay - 4/5

I like MediEvil, but I probably won't be revisiting this anytime soon. Some old issues were inherited from its predecessor, namely the camera and how your health will deplete rapidly if you're spammed by enemies since there is zero recoil. Aiming with projectiles can be difficult. There is no lock on button and you can't use a joystick for manual aiming; you have to adjust Dan's position in just the right direction until the green "target glow" that hangs around him zooms over to the enemy. This makes the final boss a little annoying since if you're stunned, the recovery time is the same amount of time it takes for another projectile to reach you and you have no time to aim. The game does have it's charm. The cast is interesting and the soundtrack is fitting. Sill worth a play if you're a fan of the series or the genre.Updated 3 Years Ago

I've played both this and its predecessor back-to-back, and this one was far less enjoyable. Although there are additions to the game, such as wall climbing, hand-manipulating and head puzzles, and the puzzles are fairly good, the story itself, as well as the voice acting and the way it goes about rewarding me with new items, pales in comparison to the first game. I'd actually call it badly done, with how bad the voice acting is and how boring the story is. The 10-chalice completion reward is definitely not worth it; the game will be enjoyable with fewer chalices, which I don't think is the sign of a good game. All in all, not a game I think I'll be coming back to.

Pelissä on kuitenkin hyvääkin.

The engine of the game is better, a lot of new things, but... idk I prefer the first game. This game is still good, if you haven't played it go and play it, at least once.Updated 6 Years Ago

A pretty nice game marred by a lot of glaring issues. The combat was trying to be overly frantic, so much that it just boiled down to incoherent chaos. On top of that, to make the game 'difficult', there is very little healing, you take tons of damage, and there are no checkpoints. You're forced to play perfectly, which is nigh impossible with the impossibly frantic combat, and damage is unavoidable. It's not impossible, but there will be a lot of frustration. The puzzles were good, the different areas interesting and diverse.Updated 8 Years Ago
