Twitch Plays Pokemon

Whether you love it or hate it, it seems like the Twitch Plays Pokemon trend is here to stay for awhile. So I figured I'd go ahead and make a topic about it!

Currently we're on Gen 2 with a Totodile as a starter. We've already got one badge under our belt, and we're making pretty good progress amassing a team. So far people seem to be adopting a military theme for this one, which I support wholeheartedly... the religious theme was fun last time, but I think it's time to move on and come up with new original content.

I wrote up a potential outline for the meta-plot. It may or may not catch on, but if you're interested in TPP, it should at least make for a fun read:

What do you guys think of Gen 2 so far? Love it? Hate it? Indifferent?

Gen 2 started just as I went to sleep and I haven't had time to follow it yet, but I followed the first so I know I will follow this one. I decided to start playing Pokemon Crystal (I had never played it before) so I can compare my progress against theirs. I'll have the advantage in that I won't be bumping into walls and getting stuck at ledges, but they'll have the advantage of playing literally 24 hours a day.

It seems to have been mostly broken, or at least super laggy, the couple times I've checked it, but it amuses me that someone also made Twitch Plays Cookie Clicker at some point a couple weeks ago.

There has always been a 20-30 second lag from chat to game input. That is why the creator chose pokemon, because it was very forgiving with its turn-based nature and didn't require reaction time.

No, with this one I mean it seems to just up and die for minutes at a time, if it's even feeling like being responsive at all. There's a difference between having a delay like TPP and not working at all.

Hm, I haven't had time to watch the new one much, but I have yet to see it go down or hiccup at all.

Yeah. I've only noticed the usual amount of connection drops (and that's just because of my shitty college wifi).

I actually haven't been watching this stream that much because the community seems so divided. There's one group of people that just wants to reuse all the memes from the Gen 1 stream, another group that wants an entirely new plot with no relation to Gen 1, people who want something in between, and other groups that just complain for the sake of complaining.

Hopefully the negativity sorts itself out :/
